When you use the Nvey Eco Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation, organic makeup now fits your organic lifestyle!

June 17, 2013 Paris B 17 Comments

nvey eco moisture rich liquid foundation

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a greenie nor terribly sold on natural/organic products. But I know there are many people out there trying to go organic or natural for a healthier lifestyle. So, when I was given the chance to learn a little more and to try a brand of organic makeup, I took it up. I thought it would be interesting to see how well natural and organic makeup stand up to regular department store or pharmacy/drugstore makeup 🙂

The brand I was introduced to was Nvey Eco an organic makeup brand that hails from Australia. There aren’t many around, in case you are wondering. Nvey Eco aims to provide high quality, high performance makeup that is 100% Certified Organic. I think you’ll agree that this is rather fascinating 🙂

Today I’ll tell you what I think of the Nvey Eco Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation in 514 Cool Natural. There are 4 shades available locally at TNS Skinlab although there are 6 shades available in all. The key ingredients in the foundation are organic chamomile, vitamin E, safflower oil along with being oil free, fragrance free, paraben free… you get the picture. But importantly, how does this measure up to say… my Holy Grail liquid foundation? Ahh…

Second time lucky trying the Revlon Colorstay Makeup (Combination-Oily) Foundation in 200 Nude

June 13, 2013 Paris B 34 Comments

revlon colorstay liquid foundation

I really like Revlon for drugstore/pharmacy makeup. They aren’t terribly exciting if I’m to be honest, but they work when they have to and that, for me, is most important. I’ve tried some of their foundations over the years and they generally work for me BUT I’d never tried the iconic Revlon Colorstay Makeup foundation. I know its popular, but I’d try it at the counter and the thick texture doesn’t endear itself to me. Its like everything that I NEVER wanted in a liquid foundation 😛

Recently, I received a bottle and I thought “Oh hey, here we go. My chance to try this iconic product” What I didn’t realise was that Revlon has now come up with 2 different Colorstay Makeup Foundations. The existing one is now meant for those with normal-dry skin and this new one is for combination-oily skin. What this new Combination-Oily texture means is that it feels lighter in texture and also on skin.

I initially didn’t like it. I tried it for a few days and found it drying initially despite the really long lasting coverage. So I set it aside. 2 months later, I picked it up again and for some weird reason, it now works for me. Have I normalised my skin that much from dry to combination? I don’t know but now, it doesn’t feel drying on my skin anymore! I think I just didn’t use as much.

Fast, Easy, Effective Liquid Foundation Application Tutorial – 5 Lines, 1 Perfect Base (Backstage Tip from Dior Makeup Artist Junior Cedeño)

May 21, 2013 Paris B 78 Comments

apply foundation tips dior junior cedeno

I love learning new and different ways to apply my foundation base. I used to use my fingers a lot, and when I was taught the super quick way of using my palm to spread the foundation on my skin, I was sold. I used this method for a long time, until I came upon the Perfect Foundation Brush. Then, it was brushes all the way for me.

I’ve shared a few Makeup Artist tips for applying foundation (Clinique, Lunasol, Estee Lauder, Dior) but here’s one from a Dior Pro-team International Makeup Artist that I just have to share by way of a tutorial, because not only is it fast, its easy and error free and importantly, gives me a beautiful base every single time 😀 Makeup Artist to the stars, Junior Cedeño applied this for me, using the Diorsnow BB Creme but I’ve since tried it with BB Cream and liquid foundation, and it works very well for both.

This is now my go-to method for applying base and if you can draw lines (doesn’t even have to be straight lines!), you will love it too! 😀

My Crusade for the Holy Grail foundation ends with the Lunasol Skin Modeling Liquid Foundation

April 8, 2013 Paris B 85 Comments

lunasol skin modelling foundation

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother going around the block (or blog hur hur!) looking for “the foundation” when I have one staring at me in the face. Its that insatiable curiosity that is never satisfied with what I have and always wanting something better. Bad bad me!

I have a handful (or perhaps, less than a handful) of foundation that I count as my faves and which I am happy to purchase over and over but of that list, I’m going to put this Lunasol Skin Modeling Liquid Foundation right at the top. Sorry Diorskin Nude and RMK you are in 2nd place in this one.

I first spotted this one when I was having my facial at my regular Kanebo salon, and at the first opportunity thereafter, I picked it up because it was new (back then) and I liked the Lunasol Water Gel Foundation (which I still haven’t told you about!) but I wanted to try something with a little more coverage. I was actually more interested in the Cream foundation but was dissuaded because apparently, it is a bit heavy for our weather, even if it gives flawless coverage. I’m still tempted by it though, so I might give it a go one day. I mean, flawless coverage! Who doesn’t want that! 😀

Does anyone have any input on the cream one (to perhaps tempt me? 😉 )
