Facial Oils

The Clarins Plant Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Oil-Emulsion deserves a bright shiny gold star!

October 17, 2022 Paris B 1 Comment

clarins plant gold

I’m not sure why I have been so tardy about sharing my thoughts on the Clarins Plant Gold Nutri-Revitalizing Oil-Emulsion. Goodness knows, I thoroughly enjoyed it! 😛

Plant Gold is a product I don’t hear or see people talk about often, which begs the question why. It is at once an oil-emulsion serum for drier skin types, or a moisturiser, if that’s all your skin can take. One pump, and you get a lovely facial oil and emulsion moisturiser in one, saving you a whole step of skincare, and delivering some plant goodness to boot!

Trying a local brand and an interesting new facial oil in the Root Remedies Black Seed Oil

June 17, 2021 Paris B 3 Comments

I kept seeing Instagram ads for a local brand Roots Remedies, to the point that I was intrigued. I guess you could say that ads work eh?

What really intrigued me was the fact that Root Remedies is a local Malaysian brand, and they had beautiful, minimalist aesthetics, that is so in right now.

One day, while in Bangsar (when we could walk around and dine indoors even with restrictions), I chanced upon their store. Yep, they aren’t only sold online, but in a physical store too. It is a beautiful store, with a very minimalist look and feel and a very soothing place to be in (albeit a little warm from the sun).

After browsing a little, I decided to pick up an item or two to try. When I polled Instagram, I found reviews to be rather mixed on the brand so I thought it would be interesting to have a go myself. Their range of facial oils intrigued me (I love me a good facial oil!) so that’s what I went for – the Root Remedies Black Seed Oil.

For a moisturizing, radiant glow, I gave the Sunday Riley CEO Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil a shot!

February 4, 2021 Paris B 8 Comments

I love me a good facial oil, and anything with Vitamin C. And I also thoroughly enjoyed using the Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C Serum. One of the complementary items in the CEO range was the Sunday Riley CEO Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil, and when I bought my trial kit a while ago, a deluxe sample size came with it.

I believe Sunday Riley had the CEO Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil first, before they came out with the Vitamin C serum. It was one of those things I’d been meaning to try for the longest time.

Now that I have, was it worth the wait? 😀

I’m assured that no elephants were hurt in making the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil

January 8, 2021 Paris B 6 Comments

I first tried the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil in a trial pack duo I purchased online one Christmas (back in the day before it was available here). They still do those little kits sets, which is a good (and more affordable) way to try products from this cult status brand.

I later received a full-sized bottle of the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil in a press kit, and was able to try it for a little longer.

And I’m going to tell you that this is a very nice little bottle of oil!

I tell stories on Instagram @parisbmws

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪
Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam ( Been ages since I’ve gone to a big pasar malam (night market). Popped by the one in SS2. Frenetic. Crowded. Lots of food and drink. Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂
Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunt Will have to admit that this serum from @drsambunting had me curious about Azelaic acid. It’s a pretty good serum for brightening if Vit C isn’t quite your thing. It’s a 4-in-1 combo of pretty potent ingredients.

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
