Hair

If your hair is frizzy and unruly, tame it instantly with the Natura Ekos Murumuru Shampoo and Conditioner!

September 6, 2021 Paris B Leave a Comment

I’ve been meaning to share about Natura products for a while, but something else keeps getting in the way, but nothing – and I mean NOTHING – will get in the way of me telling you about the Natura Ekos Murumuru Shampoo and Conditioner.

NOTHING!

Regular readers may realise that I don’t talk a lot about hair care products. The real reason, if you’ve engaged with me for any length of time, is that I am very blessed with very obedient hair, with lots of volume, that doesn’t get fazed by my throwing anything at it.

I could use something simple and basic from the pharmacy, or I could go all fancy and whack on brands like Sachajuan, which I had been using for a while prior. Just prior to this, I was using up a giant bottle of Sukin shampoo and conditioner. Decent and good value, but nothing much to write about to be honest 😛

When I was moving on, I fished the Natura Ekos Murumuru Shampoo and Conditioner out of the depths of my cupboard, and within one use, fell in love.

Products I finished recently: 4 I enjoyed and 2 I won’t repurchase

April 14, 2021 Paris B 1 Comment

I’ve used up some products recently, and it’s opportune to share what I thought about them after finishing them to the last drop, as there were a couple that didn’t quite blow me away. Yet, they didn’t quite merit a post on their own, if you get what I mean.

empties 2021

There was one that surprised me, as it sort of grew on me the more I used it. Wasn’t impressed initially, but by the end of its life, I was happy enough with it that I was contemplating repurchasing! 🙂

Are expensive hair combs worth it? A fine tooth comb through a hairy subject

June 19, 2020 Paris B 7 Comments

If there’s one thing I’ve never had to worry about for coming on 8 years now, it’s owning a comb. I don’t comb my hair. I haven’t, for many, many years.

I’m quite lucky that I not only have short hair, but fairly obedient hair that falls into place quickly once I run my fingers through it. It’s my, if you would pardon the cliche, crowning glory 😀

But everything changed when the pandemic hit, and hairdressers were shut, before I could go for my monthly trim. Suddenly, my hair was growing out of control. I haven’t cut my hair for almost 4 months!

expensive comb worth it

Some time while locked-down, MCO Mate unearthed an old comb of his, because I didn’t have one. “And you’re the beauty blogger!” he chided 😛

My reaction when I saw it, was disbelief. “You actually bought an Acca Kappa comb?!” I cried. MCO Mate isn’t given to luxury spending, hence my disbelief 😛

Acca Kappa, for the uninitiated, is an Italian brand of personal grooming products with a long lineage, and as combs and hair brushes go, is pretty expensive. The Fine Tooth Comb here for example, retails at about €23.50, which is something I’d never have paid for a comb.

So I had a little laugh, and I ribbed him about it, but one day, after washing my hair, I decided to try it. What did I have to lose?! 😛

Grey Hair : To colour or not to colour, that’s the question

February 20, 2020 Paris B 17 Comments

Grey hair is such a sensitive issue isn’t it?

Often, when we discover our first grey (or white) hair, it is with a sense of gloom. It is a sign that age has caught up with us, and that we aren’t the spring chicken that we thought we were.

grey hair

I remember that sinking feeling when I discovered my first grey hair sticking straight up the top of my head in my early 20’s. It was at that exact moment that I knew what the old saying “It’s all downhill from here!” meant.

I then swore that when I started greying, I’d start colouring my hair again. It’s been 20 years since, so have I kept true to that promise to myself? 🙂
