Evolution

Oh hello! I’ve missed this space, even if it’s taken me months to find the time to sit and write again. Time has been a scarce resource, and while I have tried to be better at managing my time, I’ve underestimated the time I’ve needed to spend in the kitchen.

If you are unaware, I presently run a commercial kitchen making treats for pets (dogs, mainly). Not ever having operated a commercial kitchen before, it has been a steep learning curve, especially once we took the steps to take ourselves out of the home kitchen, and into a commercial space. That said, it has been very rewarding, and I would not have it any other way at this point in time! 🙂

What the long hours and late nights at work has meant is that I have had far less time to spend on an extensive skincare routine; and if I’m to be honest, it hasn’t been all that bad! In fact, it has taught me a few things about excesses.

The Altruist Face Fluid SPF50 sunscreen is a lighter choice for oily skins

altruist face fluid sunscreen

There was a recent sale on the Altruist Sunscreen on shopee, so I shared about it on Instagram, and it received a lot of positive response. But I also received a lot of questions about texture, because I previously shared that the Altruist Sunscreen has a thicker, more creamy texture, and understandably, that can feel a little off-putting.

Incidentally, I had purchased the Altruist Face Fluid sunscreen in the past, and tried it not too long ago, so I figured that it’s time I shared my thoughts on it.

Affordable hydration is possible with the L’Oreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid 1.5% serum

l'oreal revitalift hyaluronic acid serum

I haven’t been as familiar with many new beauty releases as I haven’t been out and about very much. So what I’ve been doing is shopping my stash and finding new things in there that I might not otherwise have tried!

The L’Oreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid 1.5% Serum is one such product. I received it during an event many months ago, and dug it back up when I was looking for a new serum to use in the day. I tend to use hydrating/hydration serums in the day as I’ve found that that’s when I lose the most moisture from my skin. I attribute this to the weather – just because the weather is hot and humid doesn’t mean we don’t lose water from our skin. Using a hydration serum in the day helps my skin retain moisture and water better.

Suffice to say that the Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid serum was surprisingly a good find!

Trying the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream 15 years later – it still impresses

elemis pro-collagen marine cream

Many people are surprised that my first encounter with Elemis isn’t at their store, or through some viral video, or an influencer on social media. My first encounter with the brand was back in 2009! Yep, they have been around a long time here in Malaysia, and I bet many of you didn’t realise that! 😀

Back in 2009, when this blog was in its infancy, I sat down with the then distributors and they shared with me about this new brand that was coming into Malaysia, and let me try some of the iconic products. One such sample was the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.

A few years later, I purchased the full sized version, but I never got around to talking about it, because by then, the brand had gone into hibernation LOL But now that they’re back, under new management, I’d tell you about it.

I haven’t been in contact with the brand for a long time now, so I don’t know what sort of promotions or newness is around. When it comes to Elemis, there are just 2 products that I swear by – the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, and this Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. Everything else, to me, is gloss – make me change my mind 😛
