Bursting with Colour : Revlon ColourBurst Lipgloss in Strawberry

March 4, 2011 Paris B 28 Comments

The Revlon Colourburst Lipglosses are new but they have also been around a while. Have you checked them out? I actually purchased one in Rose Pearl or Perle Rose when it first came out, but it totally slipped my mind until I was reminded of it recently 😛

The Revlon Colourburst lipglosses are some seriously fun lipglosses. I’m not a fan of lipglosses in general, but the Revlon Superlustrous lipglosses were always an old time fave of mine from way back. I’m also a fan of the Colorburst lipsticks, so naturally I had to go and check out these new glosses 🙂

What these lipglosses are, are shiny. Shiny and shimmery.

Did I mention shiny? Here are some swatches I took in store so lighting is off and its been so long that I can’t remember half the shades swatched anymore 😛

The colour actually looks a lot brighter in the tube but swatches a little more sheer. That’s a good or bad thing depending on how you like your glosses. For me, I found the lighter shades tended to swatch light, while the darker brighter shades were more true to colour. Still, do not forget that these are lipglosses and so are sheerer than lipsticks.

I’ll tell you about the Revlon Colourburst lipgloss in Strawberry today. Its an adorable colour 🙂

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara : You are Fabulash!

January 14, 2011 Paris B 14 Comments

2010 seemed to be the year of lash growth serums. We had so many pop up in the market! Bar one that actually worked for me, I was not quite impressed nor taken in by others on offer. Ironic really, seeing as to how I have short lashes.

I met someone for the first time about a month ago, and she exclaimed after a spell “You really have short lashes!” I wasn’t upset of course. I’m resigned to it but I found it quite amusing that she noticed 🙂

Now, instead of having a separate lash growth serum, we now have lash growth mascara – mascara that help condition your lashes and help them grow the more you use it. What a way to build brand/product loyalty! 😀 I know Rimmel has one (I haven’t got round to using it) and Lancome has one but Revlon has one too – Grow Luscious Fabulush mascara.

I will tell you up front that I don’t know if there was any lash growth of my short lashes. I don’t use one mascara long enough for its benefits to show. What I will tell you is how it performs and why I like it 🙂 Yes I do!

December 7, 2010 Paris B 15 Comments

Remember when I last coloured my hair at home and how I mentioned that the smell of ammonia really put me off and how I wished there was an ammonia-free home hair colour? Well, I knew that there was an ammonia free salon colour, but I just came across this ammonia-free home color kit by Revlon. Let’s hear a yay for no stinkiness!

Tip: Apply concealer after foundation and cut makeup time by half

September 14, 2010 Paris B 60 Comments

We all know the mantra:-

  1. Prep Skin
  2. Concealer
  3. Foundation

I’m going to turn it on its head and tell you to try applying your concealer AFTER your foundation. Weird tip?

concealer over foundation?

I used to do the whole concealer before foundation thing and have been doing it for years. But recently, I found that when I apply my concealer and then my foundation, I sometimes have to touch up my concealer because in applying my foundation, whether with brush, sponge or hands, some concealer may get rubbed off.

So, I got irritated and the next time I did my makeup, I put on my foundation first and then touched up with concealer.

Voila!
