I already told you about the Lancome Virtuose Precious Cells mascara before. Its a new mascara by Lancome that cares for your lashes and helps them grow with constant use. There was also a trade in offer where you could trade in an old mascara for a sample of this new one – did you participate in that? 🙂
Anyway, I already told you my initial thoughts on the Virtuose Precious Cells mascara then so this is just a quick review to show you some pictures.
I found the mascara brush a little on the large side. My eyes aren’t very big and my lashes aren’t all that very long so getting mascara smudges was common.
To apply the Virtuose Precious Cells, I was advised to use the inner curve, wriggle it at the root and the swipe upwards. Wiggling it at the root of the lashes deposits more mascara there which helps it to hold the curl better. The Virtuose Precious Cells mascara is supposed to help lashes look longer and curlier.
Personally having stick straight lashes, I only managed to get the curl effect AFTER first curling. Once I curled my lashes, the mascara helps the curl to remain. Without first curling, there wasn’t much discernable curling of my lashes. The formula isn’t too heavy so my lashes stayed up all day and washes out easily with warm water. For more drama, you can layer it on more but it might get a bit spidery.
I saw it being applied on someone with naturally long and curly lashes. The effect is summarized in one word – stunning! For us shorter lashed gals, it will take a little more effort to get the stunning effect but if you already have long lashes, you will love this because if you apply 2 coats, you will get the effect of false lashes – kid you not!
Lancome mascara has for the most part worked for me throughout the years so really, I have no real complaint about this one except the brush which I find too large for me. After a while though, I’m getting used to it so it gets less messy over time.
Pros: Holds a curl, Makes my lashes look longer
Cons: Brush head is too big for my eyes, Pricey
Did you try this one during the promo blitz? I think the mascara exchange might still be going on.
If you have tried the sample, do you have some thoughts to share?

I envy those with long lashes..mascara helps them to look va-va voom! I’m thinking of getting this but i *heart* the vibrating mascara. Now that is one mascara that made my lashes go ‘toink’! Hehe..
ParisB says
Yup! Those with long lashes definitely have things a lot easier 🙂 I found the vibrating mascara a little clumpy after a while but I’m glad it worked for you!

OOoo… I’ve never tried any high end mascaras before. The only departmental store mascara I have is the Clinique High Impact, but that works great. hahaha. ^.^ Congrats that it worked for you!
ParisB says
Heard the Clinique High Impact is a good one. Perhaps some day I should try 🙂

Bonjour Paris,
I’ve been waiting for this entry for ages! 😀
The staff at Lancome (during the promotional period for this mascara) put this on me after a facial treatment session, since then I was hooked! I was in the beginning very skeptical about the mascara because I had never had great experience with Lancome Mascara (the first and only mascara I bought from them was the one you loved but discontinued, I can’t remember the name, it smudged like there was no tomorrow).
But after a few hours of scorching sun, it still stayed up and I didn’t become a panda, I went back to purchase it the next day.
I love it, the curve of the mascara was designed to push the lashes and hence hold the curve. As I have always used a curler before using mascara, I can’t tell if it does any curling but I totally love the texture and the ease of use.
It might just replace my currently drying out Dior Iconic Extreme…

I think you mean Flextencils? I loved that one and I’m told that Virtuose is the replacement. It isn’t quite vavavoom for me though compared to Flextencils but hey! Any mascara is better than none 😀 Glad you like the Virtuose Precious Cells too. I like how light it is but I somehow can’t get the sky high lashes that the makeup artist gave me before. I think its all the technique 😛
Lee says
Yeap it is Flextencil, please forgive my ever shrinking brain 🙁
I find this has a lighter consistency c/f flextencil…
Try to curl it first (3 points curling, not only at the roots), then a lash primer (I think it always help unless I am lazy)….then coat a layer from the top, work from the root zigzagging up. Put the mirror flat on the table, pull the corner of the eyes up, it should be easier to work the mascara 🙂
I hope it helps…my problem is I have heavy eyelids, pushing all the lashes down…it’s time to start my journey for an eye cream *scream*

Hi Paris B, thanks for the review of the virtuose precious cells mascara!
From the photos, it doesn’t seem to lengthen and curl that much though. But maybe I’m just too used to the dolly lashes effect that I get from drugstore mascaras like majolica majorca.
I can never bear to spend so much on a mascara and use it a couple of times and chucking it in 3 months! The only counter brand mascara that I have used were clinique’s and estee lauder’s samples that I got as GWPs. hee
ParisB says
Ah I can’t use Majolica eye products so although I’ve read so much about their mascara, I dare not try it 🙂 For drugstore, I usually just go with Maybelline. Works fine enough for me most times.
Sugar says
well my lashes are the same as Syen from soloverly, so i found this mascara amazing! me loves! i use this first, the layer it with a second coat of Dior’s iconic extreme!
ParisB says
You lucky girl! I bet you get lashes that has everyone wondering which false lashes you are using for the day!
Lisa says
Hi Paris,
is this mascara easy to remove?
Marjolica’s and Beaute de kose’s mascara are my two loves n hates. I love them coz they look really great on, love the intense glossy black and the natural lengthening it gives to my lashes. However, at the end of the day, it’s real headache to clean it off properly. I’ve tried many products and ways! Anyone else with this problem?
ParisB says
Yes I find it easy to remove with makeup remover or oil cleanser. No problems every time 🙂
Michelle says
If there’s one thing I was ahead of the queue when the better body parts was dished out it would be lashes. One of the lucky ones in that dept so I’m intrigued by the 2-swipes-and-it’s-like-fake-lashes cos I usually don’t wear mascara except for special occassions. And then when I do I want it to look vavavoom like you described, hehe. Is it hard to remove?
ParisB says
You lucky girl! Seriously, 2 swipes and va-va-voom! Try it 😉 Its not hard to remove for me. I use oil cleanser or eye makeup remover and sometimes just warm water in the shower works too.
Connie says
I claimed a tube… ok la… If I allow it to dry before applying the next coat then it actually looks quite nice.
ParisB says
But babe, most mascara look nice on you *pouts*
