Bursting with Colour : Revlon ColourBurst Lipgloss in Strawberry

March 4, 2011 Paris B 28 Comments

The Revlon Colourburst Lipglosses are new but they have also been around a while. Have you checked them out? I actually purchased one in Rose Pearl or Perle Rose when it first came out, but it totally slipped my mind until I was reminded of it recently 😛

The Revlon Colourburst lipglosses are some seriously fun lipglosses. I’m not a fan of lipglosses in general, but the Revlon Superlustrous lipglosses were always an old time fave of mine from way back. I’m also a fan of the Colorburst lipsticks, so naturally I had to go and check out these new glosses 🙂

What these lipglosses are, are shiny. Shiny and shimmery.

Did I mention shiny? Here are some swatches I took in store so lighting is off and its been so long that I can’t remember half the shades swatched anymore 😛

The colour actually looks a lot brighter in the tube but swatches a little more sheer. That’s a good or bad thing depending on how you like your glosses. For me, I found the lighter shades tended to swatch light, while the darker brighter shades were more true to colour. Still, do not forget that these are lipglosses and so are sheerer than lipsticks.

I’ll tell you about the Revlon Colourburst lipgloss in Strawberry today. Its an adorable colour 🙂

In keeping with my whole resolve to try pink lip colours, Strawberry is right up my alley of “Pinks that suit me”. As a gloss, its quite perfect, with super high shimmer and shine. Its not sticky (very important for me) and not goopy nor too thick nor drying. There is a sweetish scent I’d be happier without but it doesn’t kill me so I can live with it 😛

The applicator bears mention. Unlike the traditional sponge doe foot applicator, this one’s a long sponge applicator that is designed to make it easier to apply colour more smoothly. I find the long applicator takes a bit of getting used to as its quite flexible but it does deposit more pigmented colour on your lips so I forgive it that.

In terms of colour, its pretty pigmented too. Its a colour I like using to brighten up a look, because its just so bright and cheery. Can you just see the shine? Better put on your sunnies so you don’t get blinded LOL!

The colour is very pretty and I think most of you will like this one. Its sweet, its pink, its shiny and its shimmery. Its everything a lipgloss should be 🙂

Pros: High shine and shimmer, Fairly pigmented, Not sticky, Not thick, Not drying

Cons: Lightly scented

As I’ve observed, these lipglosses have been around a while by now. I’ll bring you swatches of Rose Pearl soon, which is another pretty colour. If you’ve tried these, and I’m sure you have, which was your favourite colour? 🙂 I’ve seen this on promotion at a few pharmacies so its a good time to pick it up, unlike I who picked mine up at full price *facepalm*

Peony is a pretty colour but I was afraid it might turn too nude on me. I look really wierd when I look like I have no lips 😛 But its pretty 🙂

I bought Rose Gold when it first launched last month and it looks exactly like my MAC Plushglass in Big Baby except that it is a bit more pigmented. Safe to say I have been using the heck out of my Revlon one as it has a way WAY better consistency than the MAC one and the price is just another plus for me. I really do love Revlon products as Revlon is definitely one of the better drugstore brands in my opinion. Too bad I seem to love splurging at Isetan@Parkson rather than saving at the drugstore, if not, I’ll be rich with tonnes and tonnes of Revlon products in hand. *sigh*

Ooh! So Revlon Rose Gold is a MAC dupe? Awesome! Being a MAC dummy, I’m not too familiar with their colours 🙂 I love Rose Gold too and I must agree about Revlon products. They most certainly win on many counts in the drugstore stakes (except for eyeshadows. I have yet to try a good Revlon shadow) but like you, I love my department store stuff too hehe… Ah… the balance we have to strike between wealth and beautiful things 😉

I have Strawberry as well! But I don’t know why you described the scent as “sweet”. It reeked to me, different chemistry, I suppose?

Well it smelt sweet to me. Not a “sweet” I’d like having hanging around, but its sweet. Thank goodness it dissipates so I wasn’t overly bothered.

They certainly are nice, if you like glosses with high shine. If you go for a darker/brighter colour, it actually swatches quite pretty too!

I’ve thrown away several almost brand new revlon glosses in the past. The colour and texture and the high gloss shine really enticed me into buying them. But the scent seriously put me off. Can’t take it. I really wish revlon can do something about the scent.

I know what you mean about the smell. Its one you can either handle or not and I must admit it bugged me too. It seems to be stronger in the Superlustrous glosses though. Revlon should really get rid of that scent.
