Are you ready for Revlon PhotoReady Foundation SPF20 in 004 Nude?

September 6, 2010 Paris B 35 Comments

If ever a liquid foundation got a ton of flack, Revlon PhotoReady foundation would be it. Every single review (and every comment I received when I previewed this here) mentioned how sparkly it was and how utterly vampiric it was… if you subscribe to the Twilight sort of vampires.

Truly, when I tested the PhotoReady foundation on the back of my hand, it was sparkles galore! I was quite stunned. How on earth is that supposed to be good for photographs? Is it meant to blind the camera? Which is why, with all these prejudices in my head, I was surprised to find that I like the PhotoReady foundation!

The biggest complaint is that of the shimmer so I’ll address it first. I must be an odd one, because I don’t get this shimmer thing when I apply it on my face. Am I applying it wrong? I apply this like all liquid foundation – 1 pump in the palm of my hand, spread and apply on my face. (If you are new here you can read a more detailed explanation of this method here 🙂 )

revlon photo ready foundation nude review

My colour is 004 Nude (photo mistakenly labeled – Thanks Aretha!) which is a smidge darker than what I should wear. I’m thinking 003 Shell or 002 Vanilla might suit me better. However, here in Malaysia 004 Nude is the lightest shade which I can pull off in a pinch. A large pinch though – it makes me look a touch darker like I’ve had a touch of sun.

New in August: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream, Revlon Photo Ready Foundation, Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Serum, Crabtree & Evelyn Rose Essence skincare and Gerard Butler for L’Oreal Men

August 7, 2010 Paris B 33 Comments

Hello Ladies!

Here we are at the start of another brand new month and can anyone believe its August already? Its at this point we go “Where has the year gone?!” On a happy note, it takes me just that bit closer to my birthday hehe… So let’s check out what’s new in August 2010.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream reformulated

Probably the only eye cream I ever liked enough to repurchase – twice! Now comes in a reformulated version. Still RM190 a bottle that will last you a long long time. I haven’t used ANR eye cream for a while. Might this be my return?

Go down to MidValley Megamall from August 8-16 2010 and get a free skin consultation and learn how to get beautiful eyes in 3 simple steps. Psst! See if they have samples of the Advanced Night Repair Serum too. I love that too!

You might have seen this around the internet already, but its here! The new Revlon PhotoReady liquid foundation that promises poreless airbrushed skin in any lighting. Comes with photochromatic pigments that diffuse light to hide your flaws and is full coverage yet lightweight with SPF20 and an oil free formula.

Interesting wot? Comes in 5 Asian friendly shades. Check it out at the Revlon promo booth at KLCC Park Mall (outside Guardian at concourse level). Then come back and let me know what you think 🙂 Haven’t seen this yet myself.

What a Cracker! Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Firecracker

August 4, 2010 Paris B 17 Comments

revlon firecracker lipgloss

When Revlon first launched their Super Lustrous lipgloss quite a few years ago, I was raving over them. In the low end of the lipgloss price scale, I still rank Revlon Superlustrous Lipglosses as the best there is for the price you pay.

Overseas, there have been quite a few limited edition or new colours released but locally, we haven’t been so lucky. However, in the newest Daydreamer summer collection for 2010, Revlon has also added 3 new Super Lustrous lipglosses to the permanent range and one of it is Firecracker.

Look at it in the tube. Isn’t is the scariest brightest red you have ever seen? Well, you might be pleased to know that it does not swatch anywhere near that shade at all. Or you might not be so pleased, depending on what you prefer 🙂

Revlon Summer Suedes Eyeshadow palette – Coral is hard to work with!

August 2, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

Revlon Summer Suedes palette

A couple of weeks back, I asked if you might have any ideas as to how to wear the Revlon Summer Suedes eyeshadow palette. I usually shy away from red or orange colours on my eye area. Its that whole pink eyed look that I fear. And coral on the eyes is a very hard colour to work with! Very VERY hard.

First off, some quick thoughts on the Summer Suedes eyeshadow palette from the Revlon Daydreamer collection for summer 2010.

The texture is quite smooth to the touch and it isn’t very chalky or powdery. The colours do swatch quite strong, if you use your fingers. Good and bad, depending on how you like your eyeshadow shades.

I think the least favourite color of mine is the duo toned brown that has reddish tones. I have never been able to work such types of browns and to be honest, I’d never been able to work a palette like this! But I was game to give it a shot. The silvery light blue is a little off in this predominantly warm palette and I thought the light pink a strange addition too since both have very little colour pay off. Still, lets be a bit adventurous and see where it goes.

I tried a couple of looks which I’ll show you below.
