30 Days of Lip Colours Project: Did You Miss Any Or Have A Favourite?

Before I go on, Happy Eid-ul Fitr / Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri to all Muslim readers! 😀 Enjoy your celebrations and the inevitable feasts 😀 I hope everyone else is enjoying the festive break wherever you are.

Ah, 4 months after I said I’d do a 30 Days of lip colours project, I’ve finally completed it. Yay for me 😛 Instead of boring everyone by going at it straight for 30 days as I did before, I opted to take it slow this time. Clearly, taking it slow means dragging it out but I’m glad I did, because in between, new lippies came into the picture which allowed me to showcase them (and give me an excuse to use them).

So by way of a round up, here are all 30 lip colours which include lipsticks and lip glosses. I will be on a break tomorrow (I’m presently away on vacation actually) but please come back in September. I have something terribly exciting lined up on the blog and I’m bursting to share the news. But it’ll have to wait till I get back 😉

A Light Misty Glow with the Burberry Beauty Misty Blush

I’d been trying so hard to figure out if I like the Burberry Light Glow Blush. At RM140 (US$42) a blush its a hefty price to have to pay, especially when thats the same price we pay here for a Chanel Joues Contraste blush (which I happen to love). Burberry had a lot to live up to!

In terms of packaging, I have nothing to fault. The blush compact is slim and sturdy and is very subtle about the brand. The cover is embossed with the signature Burberry check and the name is embossed on the side. Having a shiny metallic surface, the blush is a fingerprint magnet! I have to wipe it down every time I use it. The case closes with a magnet, which allows for it to have very smooth lines. Despite the metallic surface, I like the packaging.

Kicking off our 30 days of lip swatches is the Burberry Beauty Lipstick in No. 22 Delicate Rose. This is a new shade introduced in Burberry Beauty’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection and is permanent.

Delicate Rose is as the name implies a very very light coloured lipstick in a pale rosey tint. I hesitate to call it “nude coloured” because it isn’t. It is a light pink-rose lipstick that let’s be honest, not a colour I’d pick up voluntarily. But I was pleasantly surprised 🙂

Burberry Beauty : An Overview of the Newest Luxury Makeup Brand In Town

The day I broke the news that Burberry Beauty was going to be launched worldwide, I did not realize that for once, Malaysia is going to be right on the ball! Usually, we lag somewhere behind the rest of the world in bringing in new brands or new collections. This time, other than Hong Kong, I’m told that Malaysia is only the other country in Asia for now (as at March 2011) carrying the Burberry Beauty brand. Awesome? Quite! 😀 In fact the counter has been opened since end January 2011 and I’d been hankering to visit… but KLCC is just too out of the way for me (not to mention the extremely expensive parking! My most recent escapade cost me RM18 in parking charges! *pukes* Not going back in a hurry)

Of course, more counters will be opened in other Asian countries soon (starting with Singapore in May 2011 I believe). Its too delicious a brand not to launch 🙂

The sole counter in Malaysia for now is at Isetan KLCC. You won’t miss it. Its just behind the entrance, opposite the Longchamp boutique and has quite a large floorspace. I had the opportunity to get a taster of the brand recently so here are some thoughts I have on the brand and its products.

What first struck me was not the packaging. Oh I know how everyone raves about the beautiful packaging, and yes we’ll come to that. But what really struck me was how neutral everything looked. Sleek but neutral. Colors are safe and earth toned which means you don’t come to Burberry Beauty for bright eye popping colors. Well, not until Burberry checks and fashion come in bright shades. I’m told that the colours of the makeup line reflect that of the fashion brand so if you want to know the direction the makeup will head towards, watch the fashion brand. Let’s take a gander at some of the colours in the collection.
