I was so moved by the Chanel Codes Subtils eyeshadow palette, I did a FOTD post!

February 23, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

Truth to tell, I haven’t been very excited about many new makeup items for a while. But for some reason, this, rather unassuming, eyeshadow palette from Chanel grabbed my attention. It is the Codes Subtils 278 Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow Quad (RM230 | US$61), and it is part of the Coco Codes collection for Spring 2017 and is, rather unfortunately, limited edition.

I managed to hunt down one very recently (it was sold out when I first wanted it, but if you call around, you may still be able to find one) and I just knew that I’d have to give it a very quick shout out, because if you love neutral eyeshadow with just a hint of smokiness, you will be head-over-heels for this one.

Like all the post-2014 Chanel Les 4 Ombre eyeshadow palettes, the quality is sublime. The texture is soft, pigmented and easy to blend without fall out. The shimmer is understated and flattering, and the colours are rich (or as rich as they can be). Like Poesie, I can see myself wearing this nearly everyday and if I were the sort to hoard back-ups, this is a palette I’d have multiple back-ups of.

I suppose you could say that I love it! 😛 I don’t have a lot to say without gushing, so I’ll be sharing a quick look I did to show you why I love this palette so much.

Your Say: What is your preferred brow product? Here are some I use

December 14, 2016 Paris B 29 Comments

Hello, friends! Is anyone actually up and about, and raring to go after that lovely long weekend we had here in Malaysia? LOL Well, even if you aren’t, there’s the coming long Christmas weekend to look forward to next week!

I was messing about during the weekend (as you do), and I had a thought – What is your preferred product to use when doing your brows?

brow products

You know me – things like this make me curious, because there are so many brow products out there! There are pencils that you sharpen, retractable pencils, angled pencils, brow mascara, brow pomade…. I honestly never thought there were that many!

I’ve been experimenting with the famed Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade recently, and I’ll share my thoughts on it, alongside telling you if it’s my favourite brow product … and if it isn’t, what is 🙂 Naturally, I’m curious what’s your pick!

For a Fresh Glow, Burberry offers their version of Luminous Skin Correcting BB Cream

September 1, 2014 Paris B 20 Comments

What happens when you’re living under a rock (as I’ve been doing, figuratively speaking) for the past few months, is that the minute you are let loose in the beauty hall, you go nuts. And you are more susceptible to impulse buying, AND you are liable to make mistakes.

That’s what happened to me not too long ago. Let loose in the beauty hall of Isetan KLCC, I found myself stealing a look at the sole Burberry Beauty counter here in Malaysia, wondering what was new and my eye fell on an interesting looking product – the Burberry Fresh Glow BB Cream – Luminous Skin Correcting Beauty Balm.

I was quite surprised to see it, because I didn’t expect to see a BB Cream come out of the Burberry Beauty stable already. Locally, the line has been quite quiet in terms of marketing and PR so I honestly had no idea what has been going on with the brand. I’m told it’s a a worldwide thing too, as there’s some shake-ups going on internationally.

Long story short, the Burberry Fresh Glow BB Cream is a limited edition product launched under the Burberry Beauty Summer 2014 collection (of which I paid no attention to as the rest of the items didn’t grab my attention) Locally, there are 2 shades available – 01 Nude Rose and 02 Nude Honey.

I later found out after looking up information online, that 01 Nude Rose (cool toned) and 02 Nude Honey (warm toned) are meant for Asian skins and elsewhere in the world, there are 3 more shades – Fair, Medium and Dark. All this is very confusing, so suffice to say that all we get here are the “Asian” shades, 01 being a little lighter and a touch cooler in tone and 02 being warmer and a touch darker.

Blush Bonanza! 5 Light Pink Blushes to try for a natural perky complexion

May 7, 2013 Paris B 76 Comments

light pink blushes

Ok admission – I’m really struggling to get my blogging mojo back LOL! No idea where its gone to be honest. If found, please return. I may offer a lipstick reward. I have my editorial calendar up but I keep pushing things back. So what better way to ease back into the swing of things than to talk about one of my favourite topics – blush! 😀

I was looking in my drawer a while ago and realised that I have a few distinct categories of blush colours that I gravitate towards. I thought I might like to share little compilations from time to time and here’s starting with a very easy to wear category of light pink blushes.

Light pink blushes are one of the easiest ways to ease into wearing blush, especially if you aren’t too adept at applying them yet. Sure, the common lament is that the colour doesn’t show up. But you don’t want splotches on your cheeks. You want a natural glow to your skin, and if you need more colour, its easy to layer them on. Light pink is a good shade, because the colour is light, it gives you just a gentle perky glow and gives you a bit of colour without looking like you applied makeup. Absolutely perfect for the “Makeup? What makeup?” look. That said, not everyone suits pink blush so I am speaking quite generally here – not gospel ok? 😛

Here are 5 light pink blushes I own, that I like and use quite often to get you started. As a bonus, they’re all very easy to use too, even for newbies! 🙂
