These prettty Marc Jacobs Air Blush powders will leave your cheeks looking air-brushed!

August 31, 2018 Paris B 10 Comments

I’m surprised that the Marc Jacobs Air Blush doesn’t get more air-time. Aside from the quick flash in the pan when they were launched about 2 years back, they are surprisingly absent from most people’s Instagram shots. I thought they were Instagram-worthy, don’t you?

I was very fortunate to have been sent the blushes in a PR package, although to this day, I don’t know who sent them, and who I should thank. It niggles at me! I’ve shared them now and again online, but really, they deserve a feature on the blog, because these are one of my favourite blushes.

When you realise that I own a LARGE DRAWER filled with blushes, you’ll know that’s saying something! LOL! 😀

Might this skincare tip be the best technique for applying skincare to your skin?

August 29, 2018 Paris B 16 Comments

Skincare is the new buzzword these days in the beauty world, and skincare gurus have mushroomed. Sometimes though, I wonder if it’s a good thing as disinformation is as prevalent as information, if not more so! Perhaps I’m even guilty myself, even though I’m no guru.

But that aside, I often see people applying their skincare, creams in particular, by dotting it on their faces before rubbing in, and I wanted to share this tip, and tell you why it’s better than the dotting method.

best technique to apply skincare

Like most people, when I first started using moisturisers, I’d do the 5 dot method – one each on each cheek, and one on the forehead, nose and chin, then rub it in. I know many people still do it because it often see it in videos.

But later, when I first started using La Mer back in the day, they taught me that I had to first, warm up the cream in my hands before applying to skin in a pat-press motion. To this day, that’s over 10 years later, I still use the same technique with every product!

I was watching Jamie Yoon, Global Makeup Artist for Sulwhasoo at an event last week, and he, like most makeup artists who work with skincare, used the same method for applying skincare. I also came across some articles expounding on how Japanese women pat skincare into your skin instead of rubbing. So, what better time to reinforce this technique and skincare tip! 😀

Drop everything! I’ve just found my current favourite affordable sunscreen in the Kanebo Allie Extra UV Perfect SPF50+ PA++++ sunscreen!

August 27, 2018 Paris B 39 Comments

It was hard not to go crazy buying up all the skincare in sight while I was in Japan earlier this year. Very hard. It helped that there was a language barrier – it prevented me from quite literally falling for every product out there! Yet, I managed to hoard a number of items, predominantly sunscreen, and one that caught your eye was the Kanebo Allie Extra Perfect UV Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ I showed in some of my pictures back then.

Quite a few of you asked me about it, but I wasn’t comfortable sharing, as I’d quite literally opened it up to use while in Japan, and it was too new to actually form an opinion on. I wanted to come home where the heat and humidity is high, to see how I’d like it. Then, I wanted to really put it through its paces, so I took it to the beach, where I spent an ungodly amount of time in the sun and by the pool.

I wanted to be very sure about how I felt about this one. This was because I’d already fallen in love with it while in Japan, and I really really wanted to know if it was as good for me as its first impression was.

Happily, or unhappily, I think this is the perfect successor for me, to my long-time favourite, the Shiseido Perfect UV sunscreen. The latter has been reformulated this year where the name now states “Multi-Defense” and before you ask, no I have not yet tried it. I know I should, but I am working through other sunscreens I own (I need to before they go off – 2 years shelf life for best efficacy!) and to be honest, I’ve read too many unhappy comments about this new formula – enough to put me off trying.

Well, let’s just say that I’m not actively looking to try the Shiseido one either, because this Kanebo Allie Extra UV Perfect sunscreen has me very happy with it. And yet sad.

Beauty hors d’oeuvres: Pamper your skin with more ginseng with additions to Sulwhasoo signature ginseng range

August 24, 2018 Paris B 14 Comments

Truth to tell, I was going to show you a product I’m really enjoying right now. I had taken my photos and they were fancy ass! But I’ve only just gone and lost my SD-card with those photos and all my recent holiday photos in it! It’s only the latest in a series of misfortunes to have befallen me in recent times, so at this stage, I’m just sort of numb and immune to all this #prayforPB

sulwhasoo concentrated renewing ginseng serum

Instead, I’ll share a quick short about some products from Sulwhasoo I’ve come across recently, that have intrigued me.

Sitting at the pinnacle of this premium brand is the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng line. The most famous product is their Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Cream which I’ve used and enjoy using (but which I’ve neglected to tell you about! I’ll remedy that soon) This year, Sulwhasoo has expanded this line with a few products, one of which I am quite excited about! See if you can guess which 😀
