Truth to tell, I was going to show you a product I’m really enjoying right now. I had taken my photos and they were fancy ass! But I’ve only just gone and lost my SD-card with those photos and all my recent holiday photos in it! It’s only the latest in a series of misfortunes to have befallen me in recent times, so at this stage, I’m just sort of numb and immune to all this #prayforPB
Instead, I’ll share a quick short about some products from Sulwhasoo I’ve come across recently, that have intrigued me.
Sitting at the pinnacle of this premium brand is the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng line. The most famous product is their Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Cream which I’ve used and enjoy using (but which I’ve neglected to tell you about! I’ll remedy that soon) This year, Sulwhasoo has expanded this line with a few products, one of which I am quite excited about! See if you can guess which 😀
Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Serum – RM690 for 50ml
This is an upgraded version of the ginseng serum, and the new Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Serum is supposed to do a host of things – plump skin, firm up skin and increase skin elasticity. It has what they call Ginsenisphere™ Technology, where the serum contains microcapsules with the energy of ginseng and infused with ginseng seed oil.
The texture is very lightweight, and sinks into skin quite beautifully. I tested it during the media launch, and it felt amazing, with a distinctive scent of ginseng. I know that not many people enjoy this earthy, herbal scent but I do.
I’d peg this for those with more matured skin types, which is what this particular range targets anyway. If you are in the same age bracket as I am, then yep! We are their target market LOL! 😀 That said, their new face is now Song Hye Kyo, formerly of Laneige fame, so I guess it’s time for some of us to upgrade our skincare, as she has! 😛
Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Water – RM300 for 125ml
This one is a brand new addition to the range and is the product that interested me the most. Incidentally, just before I went for the product launch, I happened to come across this online and it was highly raved. So, I approached it with high expectations!
Utilizing Steamed Ginseng Water Concentrate™ created by drying steamed ginseng in a vacuum and then recovering it via a cooling process, the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Water is supposed to firm, moisturise and hydrate skin from within. The texture feels rather like a liquid gel, which melts and breaks down on contact with skin to absorb quickly. I really liked how it felt!
But what this really is, is to me, a hydrating toner. Use it after cleansing and before your serum and moisturisers, and truth to tell, my skin, which has been parched by prolonged sun exposure over the weekend thoroughly lapped it all up!
I bought myself a bottle to try in the comfort of home and to see how it’d fare over a longer period of use, so I’ll update when I get round to it 🙂
Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Emulsion – RM330 for 125ml
This too is brand new to the range and complements the Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Water. I was told that you are to use this after the Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Water and before the Serum and Cream. The texture to me feels very much like a light lotion, and while I understand that the Korean method requires this additional step, I personally think you can get away with stopping here if you have oily or combination skin types.
Its purpose is to moisturize the skin and prep it to receive the serum and cream thereafter. However, I also believe that there is only so much your skin can handle in one go, so if it works for you, then it’s well and good, keep it up. But for me, I’d skip this in my routine, or use it to end my routine. Don’t tell Sulwhasoo I said that 😛
Do these new additions to the Sulwhasoo ginseng range interest you?
Have you tried anything from their Ginseng range? I’ve tried the cream, which I like and also the Creamy Mask which is quite something. Thus far, I’ve been impressed, but they don’t come cheap!
Paris B
These new additions to the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng range will be available at all Sulwhasoo counters and boutiques nationwide from September 2018.
I’ve been using the Kanebo Impress line and thinking it’s been a 3 years already and it’s time to switch to something else. This looks intriguing that I might try it!
I’d used the Kanebo Impress line before, which I do think was quite impressive. But in terms of texture, I think I much prefer Sulwhasoo because it seemed to sink in better to my skin and leave it looking better. But don’t take my word for it! They do a lot of trial kits. Maybe pick one up and see how it fares for you? 😀
Ah…the creme de la creme that stood among the ranks with Sisley, La Prairie, La Mer, etc.
I wonder if the money be well worth spending on buying premium ginseng roots and consuming it.
Haha! Too true. Although I do think these are actually a bit more affordable than Sisley and La Mer and definitely far more affordable than La Prairie! I saw some recent LP prices and my eyes almost fell out. I don’t know about consuming ginseng actually. But I guess it would serve a similar result, and maybe even be better for health too 🙂
In Europe, you can only get this in Paris, at Printemps. High time to go back to Paris… (I spent New Year’s Eve there, watched the light show and fire works on the Champs Élysée!) 🙂
By the way, with my last facial, I got a treatment with ultrasound and now I’m hooked. My nasolabial folds look so much better.
Yesterday I got the pro ultrasound facial machine I ordered. After three at home treatments, I’ll have amortized the cost of purchase (at least with Swiss prices). Very excited! (I also have a NuFace which after three months has improved my nasolabial folds a little bit, but the ultrasound did much more in just one treatment…)
Oh wow! I didn’t know that Sulwhasoo was so elusive in Europe! I am told that they’re spreading their wings so you may expect to see them become more available in the near future. And so fun to have spent NYE in Paris! Some day, I hope to. It feels like ages since I was last in Europe but hopefully I get to rectify it in the near future!
Oh you got a facial machine for your home! WOW! I have tried these facials in the past and I Have to agree with you that they are quite effective. Skin also feels firmer and looks better. But they are quite expensive here and I don’t trust many of them because I’m not sure what products they use. Do you actually DIY it at home? You have me intrigued because I’m notoriously bad at using any gadgets at all. Even the facial rollers. I got one from The Body Shop, enjoyed it for a bit, but it’s now gathering dust LOL!
Yes, I use the ultrasound about twice a week, I enjoy that very much (especially before a sheet mask). And I use the NuFace 3 or 4 times a week. Starting to see results from both, although the latter took a lot more time (some people commented on the NuFace that they were asked whether they had work done on their face, or that they use it only occasionally for instant results… definitely not my experience).
But I also have a Talika Pigment Control which I stopped using pretty quickly because it was just too annoying. The surface you have to treat for one minute is so small, so with all my freckles it took ages, every single day.
It would be wonderful if Sulwhasoo became more widely available. And please be sure to tell me when you come to Europe. It would be brilliant to meet for some skin care chat (and other chat, as well). (I was so astonished that you remembered me…)
Someday, if/when I make my way to Switzerland, you bet you’d be one of the first people I’ll contact! Switzerland has been on the cards for a while, but the cost is offputting. You do have me curious about trying one of these gadgets although I know that I’ll never be very dedicated to them. I did come across the NuFace online and it got me curious but we don’t get it here, and I am reluctant to get something electronic online, knowing I can’t do anything about it if something goes wrong with it. Still, someday, who knows 🙂 I imagine my skin would benefit from some pronounced lifting soon enough. Thanks, age LOL 😀
Yes, Switzerland is the land of milk and money, very expensive… 🙁 of course we could also meet in southern Germany, Milano or Lyon/Paris instead. 🙂
Commitment is key with all those gadgets. I hardly saw any change with my NuFace for the first three months. And one treatment with the eye/lip attachment takes almost a quarter of an hour, why the regular attachment only takes four minutes.
I very much appreciate you replying to the comments! Have a great day. 🙂
OK next trip that finds me headed to Europe, I’ll be in touch! 😀 Actually, commitment is key to any form of success, whether in skincare or even in life. So I guess that’s why I still reply to comments – if someone is committed enough to leave me a comment, the very least I can do is to respond. Even if it may sometimes take me a little while 😀 Have a lovely day Maja!
Hello, PB! I am so sorry to hear that you lost your SD card! I, too, have been searching for my 64 gig card, too!!! I am trying really hard to find it. I hope you’ll find yours soon if it’s in your house somewhere!
Haha, I read your post about samples and just the other day, I got some Sulwhasoo samples when I bought my Iope BB Cushion. I have yet to sample mine, but hope I’ll like it just as much as you do!
Take care and I’ll send some prayers for you!
Hi Z, it looks like my card is gone. I have a sneaky feeling I accidentally threw it out with a bit of trash recently. Sigh 🙁 Oh well, that teaches me a lesson to be more careful about keeping these things in proper places! I hope you found yours. I hope you enjoy the Sulwhasoo samples! I swear, it was the samples I got before this that got me hooked on the brand LOL! So dangerous 😛
Hi Paris B! Been following your love for Sulwhasoo and I have recently purchased a few of their items. Mix of the first care serum, ginseng serum and essential firming cream. Loving all of them! Also been using the Perfecting Brightening Cushion for 2 years hence my love for this brand continues. Was thinking of adding a toner to my routine, how has this Ginseng Water fared so far for you? Is it good?
Hi there! Happy to know that you’re enjoying using Sulwhasoo (it’s a dangerous slippery slope! LOL!) I do enjoy using this Ginseng water (thanks for reminding me to feature it soon!) and it does seem to add a lovely burst of hydration to the skin. But I don’t like the packaging because the water is quite thick, so it’s hard to get out of the bottle. I think it depends what sort of toner you’re looking for. In my 6 pillars of skincare, I’d put this as a hydrating toner which I use after a mist, and before my serum or moisturiser. See if you can test it?
