Canvas Tote Bags Printed with Famous Bags: Inspired or just Tired?

September 30, 2012 Paris B 53 Comments

I’ve seen some strange bags popping up lately on group deal sites and also for sale on some blogs or online stores. These are your run of the mill canvas totes, with the picture of a popular IT bag – started with the Hermes Birkin – printed on it. I think it started out as a tongue in cheek way of poking fun at these otherwise astronomically priced bags that many of us could never own.

banana taipei inspired bags

But it soon developed into a bit of hysteria of its own. There were allegations of fakes and copycats and even a lawsuit by Hermes against Banane Taipei – the maker of these bags. Gotta admit, the use of the Hermes design wholesale and a copy of their logo may not have been a very smart move. I’m not sure what’s happened to that suit but they seem to be still selling the stuff.

I haven’t seen these in person myself, but I wonder what you think of these.

Heads up! Diorskin Nude Private Coaching Session + Extra Special GWP for MWS Readers!

September 29, 2012 Paris B 28 Comments

Update: Last space left for the MWS GWP! If you have purchased the RM250 voucher, or are planning to, email [email protected] with the password ‘mywomenstuff’ to be eligible for the special gwp travel set. First 10 will get it 😉

Over this past 2 weeks, I told you about a couple of the new Dior Nude makeup to hit the counters – Backstage foundation brushes, the new Rouge Dior Nude lipsticks and there is also a new incarnation of the Diorskin Nude foundation. We all love to master that “no makeup” makeup look or at least, the “barely there” makeup look and the stuff Dior has come up with this year has been impressive. So why not discover the Nude Trend for yourself? (I will be! 😀 )

dior makeover promo

This is just a quick shout out for a promotion that Dior is running on October 6 and 13, 2012 at The Gardens and Pavilion KL respectively for a Diorskin Nude private coaching session. I think its quite a good deal and I’m going to join in the fun because its my birthday month (!!) which is why I’m sharing it 😀

The deal is thus:

Purchase a RM250 voucher at the following places:-

  • Dior counters at Jusco or Metrojaya Midvalley – for slots on 6 October 2012 at The Gardens; or
  • Dior counter at Parkson Pavilion KL – for slots on 13 October 2012 at Parkson Pavilion KL

The RM250 voucher is fully redeemable towards Dior products at the counter you purchased it from plus you will be entitled to:-

  • A 1 hour (approx) one to one private coaching session with a Dior Backstage makeup artist who will share with you tips for the perfect Nude makeup and show you how to get the best from the new Nude makeup i.e. a makeover! Ask all the questions you want – its your best way to learn!
  • A special door gift – A pouch with a mini Nude lipstick and concealer
  • After your session, head back to the makeup counter and redeem your RM250 voucher for products

Now, if you are a MWS reader (which of course you are, because you are all terribly awesome that way!) there’s something special for the first 10 readers who head down to either counters to purchase the voucher and give the secret password “My Women Stuff“ (see details above) – you will be entitled to receive an extra special Dior skincare travel set worth RM800. There are only 10 sets reserved for the first 10 readers who purchase the vouchers so erm… you know what to do 😉

So, what can RM250 get you? Here’s a quick idea 😉

New! Clarins Double Serum (Complete Age Control Concentrate) Anti-Aging Serum

September 28, 2012 Paris B 29 Comments

Sometimes, as Clarins will tell you, 2 is better than 1. Such is the fact in the new Clarins Double Serum with its Hydric + Lipidic (oil and water) system. Each bottle of Clarins Double Serum comes with the two products separated, only to be combined in the “Golden Ratio” with each pump.

This Double Serum is a step up from Clarins’ anti-aging serums (which this is) and has been made to be used by anyone from age 25 and up. The previous incarnation Double Serum Generation 6 was targeted at women in their 40s, which might explain why few of us have come across it yet *ahem*! 😉

Insta-Updates: Rustic Street Food Delights

September 27, 2012 Paris B 26 Comments

When I travel, I love nosing into the little alleyways and byways, especially when I see steam rising from a street vendor’s stall. When I see lots of people sitting around little makeshift tables, I know there’s bound to be good (and cheap) food to be had!

rustic street food

I found one such alleyway on my most recent trip to Hong Kong. Nestled between two buildings in the busy shopping district of Mongkok was a little shop/stall and lots of people sitting down and slurping down bowls of hot noodles. When every table is full, and more and more people were stopping by for food, its a sign that I had to sit myself right down and have a go!
