Your Say: Do you take vitamins or health supplements?

September 4, 2012 Paris B 74 Comments

health supplements

Growing up, I remember being given multivitamins by my parents. Sometimes they were the chewable sort which made it easier. But when I grew up, I got lax. I would go through phases when I’d take vitamins or health supplements daily but then I’d miss my routine or forget and then that would be it – that thud of falling off the bandwagon.

Recently, thanks to chatting with some friends and family, I’m back on the bandwagon again 😛 Do you take any vitamins or health supplements?

L’Oreal Lash Architect 4D hopes you bring you to a whole new dimension

September 3, 2012 Paris B 28 Comments

If you thought 3D was all you had to worry about, L’Oreal now introduces the concept of Lash Architect 4D – a false lash effect in 4 Dimensions. Honestly. 4 Dimensions? Is the Dungeon Dimensions a reality? (Discworld fans, wave your hands 😉 )

l'oreal lash architect 4d waterproof mascara

In all seriousness, the 4 Dimensions L’Oreal refer to are – Volume, Length, Texture and Curl. Basically, this would be everything you ever need or want in a tube of mascara…. And its waterproof. That should make it 5D, right? 😛

This mascara caught my eye not so much because of its claims, but because of the pretty metallic teal colour of the tube. What can I say, I’m shallow that way 😛 I happen to find this particular shade of teal very soothing, and paired with the metallic cap, I say its a very attractive piece of work.

The problem with mascara is that it is one of those things which need to be used. Staring at the lovely packaging isn’t going to make my lashes look any better. So do you reckon the performance lives up to the packaging?

What I Wore Vol. 2: The Dress With a Hole

September 2, 2012 Paris B 42 Comments

Firstly, thank you everyone for all your support and encouragement with regards my first “What I Wore” post 🙂 I’m still not a snappy dresser (and I still suck at having photos taken) so weekly posts, as suggested by some of you will not be imminent. But I had loads of fun the first time around, so I will have these posts pop up now and again 🙂

What I wore to work quite recently was a dress with a hole.

dress back hole

I’d worn this one quite a few times, without thinking about it too much, but it was only when someone remarked to me that it was an interesting detail, that I actually paid attention. You see, whilst the back is all holey and exposed, the front of it is quite demure and office friendly. It makes a good outfit for a work-to-play occasion 🙂

Scrumptious Saturday Vol. 17: As Malaysian as Bak Kut Teh

September 1, 2012 Paris B 35 Comments

I was scrolling on Twitter to see what people liked about being Malaysian in view of our National Day yesterday, and the two items that popped up were “good food” and “public holidays”. Ah, you can’t deny there’s a lot of truth there LOL! But speaking of Malaysian food, here’s something quite quintessentially Malaysian and very popular among the Chinese community – Bak Kut Teh or lit. Pork Rib Tea.

Tea? Well, soup rather 🙂

bak kut teh

Being a multi-cultural country, this also comes in a more easily accepted chicken version where chicken is substituted for pork.

What this “bak kut teh” is, is a herbal soup base with meat added for flavour. Afficionados will scorn the claypot version you see here, preferring to have their individual bowls of meat and flavoursome soup unadulterated by other flavours.
