With Human Nature Sunflower Cleansing Oil and Beauty Oil, Sunflower oil goes out of the kitchen and onto your dresser

September 27, 2012 Paris B 30 Comments

I have a thing for cleansing oil and face oils. For the former, I have been using a cleansing oil for years to remove makeup and daily grime, and for the latter, I find that some face oils are much better for me than using a face cream. Contrary to popular belief, cleansing oils and face oils can be used by all skin types, even oily skin. So, when I found out that 2 bestsellers of natural Phillippines brand Human Nature were the Sunflower Cleansing Oil and Sunflower Beauty Oil, I just had to try it.

Human Nature, as we might remember from my previous post, is a very affordable brand of natural products that hail from the Phillippines. For those who scour ingredient lists, you would be very happy with the lists on both these two products. It boasts just 1 ingredient in one item, and 2 in the other. That’s it. Nothing complicated about it at all.

I must say though, I couldn’t quite get my head around either of these. Its quite a feat you know, being able to stump me this way. I don’t mean that I hate them, or that I dislike them. I still use them now and again, but I’m just not terribly enamoured with either product. Let me just tell you a bit about them, and perhaps you may like to give them a try anyway 🙂

Dior reinvents the notion of a nude lip with the new Rouge Dior Nude Lip Blush lipsticks

September 26, 2012 Paris B 52 Comments

Earlier this week, I showed you one of the Rouge Dior Nude lipsticks in Trench (319). Instead of showing them to you one by one, I thought it best that I group them all so you can see the nuances of colour of each lipstick when placed next to another of its kin, and how they are all “nude” and yet not 🙂

By way of recap, the Rouge Dior Nude is a collection of 10 lip colours of the lighter variety. The texture is lighter and sheerer than that of the normal Rouge Dior lipsticks and these have been described as a “Lip Blush” in that they impart a blush of colour. This is rather different from the conventional notions of a nude lipstick.

Tell anyone you want a nude lipstick and chances are, you’d be handed a beige or light peach shade that blots out your lip colour. When I wear colours like that, I look like I’m a part of the walking dead. Its not a look I like to go for which is why nude lipsticks never caught my fancy.

These however, have turned that notion on its head. The Nude here refers to a transparent texture so you get something that looks natural yet neutral. No real tint of colour, but just a blush. Its one of the best interpretations of nude lips I’ve come across yet, and one that endears itself to me, mainly because I love Rouge Dior lipsticks 🙂

Your Say: Do you take beauty supplements?

September 25, 2012 Paris B 57 Comments

beauty supplements collagen drinks

A couple of weeks back, we talked about taking health supplements. I started getting curious after reading a few of your comments and started wondering: Do you take beauty supplements?

If you go to the pharmacy these days, you’d find shelves dedicated to all sorts of supplements targeted at making women look more beautiful – smoother firmer skin, firmer busts, thinner bodies…

Have you tried any of them, or do you take any regularly?

Lipstick Bandits Take it All Off! Well, not quite…

September 24, 2012 Paris B 37 Comments

Sorry for getting your hopes up right there but no one’s taking off anything, much less the Lipstick Bandits 😛

The assignment for this round was “Nude Lipstick” and if you notice, its not something I’m terribly keen on so I had to leave it till the last minute. But its at dire times like these that providence intervenes, and I managed to find a nude lip after all, thanks to the newest Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick collection! Hurrah!

The colour you see here is Trench (319). I chose Trench because I felt that on me, it was the most “nude” whereby it evened out the tone of my lips whilst not washing me out and making me look like the walking dead. Conventionally “nude” lipsticks tend to do that to me. I attribute it to the slightly warm peachy tones in the tube.

The Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick collection is a collection of 10 light coloured lipsticks that are quite transparent and luminous so unlike previous Rouge Dior lipsticks, these aren’t the strong opaque textures I’ve come to associate with Rouge Dior. Yet I like how Dior has interpreted their version of nude lipstick – the 10 colours range from peaches to pinks and much to my pleasure, its all very wearable. I will show you some other colours later, but for today, its Trench (and also other nude lipsticks from the rest of the Bandits).
