I received some interesting bath and body products from online store HoneyCat Cosmetics during the week but what really made me pause and give a little gasp of delight was the pretty leopard print paper used in the packaging.
Do you like animal prints? I’m in the market for something printed myself and would love to know if you can help point me in the direction of where to start looking 🙂
I am personally not much of a lipbalm fan. I don’t use any, in fact, which surprises some and shocks others. The only concession I have to lip balm is the Lucas Papaw Ointment I use at night as an overnight lip treatment. But I couldn’t help myself when I got hold of the Silly Lips lipbalm.
I loved the packaging. See how important packaging is? 😛 I must say that I was taken in first by the concept and then by the cheeky packaging. Silly Lips lipbalm hails from Florida, USA and each of the 3 available flavours are named after the founder’s friends – Tracy, Katie and Bekah. Each lipbalm has a different flavour and a different “personality” to it. That’s a lot of thought put into a simple lip balm!
However, I was also interested to see how they fare especially in hot tropical weather, whether the scents are too strong and just generally, how did I like it.
Its June and June usually translates into Summer. Hot sun, tans…. but I hear the ladies in the Northern Hemisphere aren’t quite enjoying as hot a summer as they’d like this year. Wish I could trade you some sun for some cooling rain! Down in the Southern Hemisphere, its turning cold as winter sets in.
I’ve learnt that there is one makeup item that pops up at about this time that can transcend the seasons – bronzer. It brings glow to a tan in Summer and brings life to dull pasty skin in Winter. I am personally only just starting to get the hang of bronzers. For the most part, I’m still not quite into them, simply because the brown shades show up quite stark against my skin. But I’m learning to look at bronzers which are lighter and sheerer in colour and texture and when I do find them, comes the next question: How do I use a bronzer?

The most important thing however, is knowing how to apply a bronzer. Sure, we’ve all heard of tips like “Drawing a big 3 on your face”, “Shading under your cheekbones”, “Use it to contour”, “Apply it where the sun hits” but seriously ladies, I don’t know about you, but these tell me nothing. I can’t apply it where the sun hits because on this pancake face, it hits everywhere 😛 Plus since I don’t tan, and don’t go out in the sun a lot, I’m not quite sure where the sun hits.
However, during a short chat with Mr. Maxime Poulin, International Makeup Artist from Guerlain, I’ve picked up some tips that I found much more helpful than anything I’d ever read. I hope you will too.
If there is one makeup item I’m loyal to, its concealer. When I find one that works, I stick with it like glue. It explains why I don’t talk a lot about concealers and also my loyalty to the Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer. I’ve used up about 2 or maybe 3 tubes by now. Not that much, but enough to raise eyebrows because I rarely repurchase makeup.
However, I wasn’t happy with the recent formulation of Full Cover. It felt thin so it no longer lived up to the Full Cover name, and when I ran out of under eye concealer, Full Cover is just too thick for the under eye area. If you have ever tried it, you’ll know what I mean. It accentuates every single line you have and even some that you don’t.
So, I went shopping and decided to pick up a concealer I’d been wanting to try for a long long time. Well, since they brought it out anyway – Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer. Love it when I discover a new fave 😀
