Your Say: Does the celebrity face of a brand affect how you feel about the brand and its products?

June 17, 2012 Paris B 78 Comments

The use of celebrity faces by various brands in cosmetics and fashion is nothing new these days. It used to be models who were the faces of brands. These days, with celebrity culture being so rife, and with celebrities being able to influence pop culture so much, brands are turning to celebrities to endorse their products and designs. We talked about it once before to see if we were influenced by celebrity endorsements and the general answer there was no.

If there is another trend I notice, it is that these celebrity faces are getting younger and younger. I realise that the brands want to capture the younger market. Catch them young and hope they’ll stay with you  as they grow, seems to be their view.

The young too seem to be more willing to spend on higher end products, either because they identify with said celebrities or whether they just have more disposable income on hand and focus on the “me” and the “now”.

I do wonder though if these faces and especially younger faces affect how you feel about a brand and its products? I have realised that it has affected me and perhaps not in the way the brands have anticipated.

Scrumptious Saturday Vol. 13 : Roasted Pumpkin and Arugula (Rocket) Salad

June 16, 2012 Paris B 37 Comments

When I dine out, especially at cafes and bistros, I have a habit of dissecting my meal and thinking of just how I can recreate it at home. Recently, I had lunch where on the menu as appetizer, was a roasted slice of pumpkin served with a salad. It was delicious!

Naturally, I had to figure out how I could recreate it at home. It looked simple enough and I balk at paying RM18 for a thin slice of pumpkin and some raw vegetables 😛 So, from memory, I assembled my version of the salad and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, its a little different but it was delicious all the same.

Serve it as an appetizer or as a main meal. and because I’m nice like that, I’m sharing my recipe here 😉

For skin as white as Diorsnow: White Reveal Moisturizing Lotion and D-NA Control White Reveal Day Essence

June 14, 2012 Paris B 17 Comments

diorsnow products

This morning, I talked about the Diorsnow White Reveal Wipe-Off Gel and I thought I’d quickly follow up with the other 2 Diorsnow products to round up the reviews and assuage some of your curiousity about these products 🙂

The other 2 Diorsnow products I have which are infused with Icelandic Glacial Water are the D-NA Control White Reveal Day Essence and White Reveal Moisturizing Lotion Fresh. Both are upgrades from existing products and if the names don’t already tell all, serve a whitening/brightening function. Asia loves things like these, apparently 😛 So, here’s what I think about these 2 items. One I find a little “meh” while the other was a surprise hit.
