Diorsnow White Reveal Wipe-Off Gel : An exfoliator without all the scrubby bits

June 14, 2012 Paris B 45 Comments

I have a little secret. I haven’t been using a face scrub for quite a while now. Or rather, I haven’t been using a physical exfoliator – you know those creamy scrubs with bits in them to clean your face? Yeah, can’t remember when was the last time I actually used one.

The reason partly, is because I was using a chemical exfoliator. It was called a skin brightener in a Japanese brand but essentially performs the function of removing dead skin cells without that whole scrubby feel. So when the Diorsnow White Reveal Wipe-Off Gel landed on my desk, I sat up a little. Now, this was interesting, coming from a Western brand too! From the comments on previous posts, I had a feeling that it was interesting to most of you too! 😀

Sculpt and Highlight: The Burberry Sheer Summer Glow Natural Highlighting Compact is nice for fair-skinned gals

June 13, 2012 Paris B 54 Comments

2012 will be marked down in my diary as the Year of the Bronzer! I bought my first bronzer last year and am still getting to grips with it. I experimented with the Dior Aurora Healthy Glow Tan powder this year, which I quite liked maybe because it had pink tones so I could use it as a blush, but I still had to be quite careful with it.

The latest one I’ve experimented with is the Burberry Sheer Summer Glow Natural Highlighting Compact. Burberry Beauty releases new products every season, usually in small batches of a new colour or a new product, but they always make them permanent. The Sheer Summer Glow compact powder is the only exception. This beauty is limited edition so you know what to do 😛

The Sheer Summer Glow is a palette of 4 coloured powders that can serve as bronzer and highlight and the texture is supposed to be fine enough to be used also as finishing powder. So you can just dust a thin layer all over for colour and to set makeup. It does look very pretty but I was curious to see if it might be too dark or brown for me as many bronzers are.

Insta-Update: The heat is on!

June 12, 2012 Paris B 22 Comments

This bright blue sky is testament to the intense heat we have been subjected to for the past few weeks. I have no idea when this heatwave will end and for all my attempts at staying cool, in the shade and hydrated, I’m slowly but surely flagging.

How have you been coping?

Can taking probiotics cause your skin to break out and develop acne?

June 12, 2012 Paris B 306 Comments

Last week, I talked about how what we eat and how our internal plumbing affects our skin. A couple of you mentioned taking probiotics and how you derived benefits from it.

Well, when I was doing my personal research, I found that probiotics is definitely helpful for helping with digestion and bowel movement. What it is, is billions of beneficial bacteria introduced into your gut via a capsule or a yogurt or yogurt drink or even a drink like Yakult or Vitagen (I happen to love drinking the latter 2 as a kid, nevermind the sweetness. It was such a treat!)

probiotics cause skin to breakout?

The purpose behind probiotics is to introduce more good bacteria to balance out the bad bacteria in your gut. It is being touted as a new health thing and like all health things, there will naturally be pros and cons. If you look out there though, the pros outweigh the cons of taking probiotics by about a million to one. Probiotics is even said to be able to help people who have skin problems, allergies or acne.

Well, guess who discovered a small side effect of taking probiotics that isn’t quite as inspiring as all that? 😛
