Bobbi Brown Says That We Women Are Pretty Powerful!

February 28, 2011 Paris B 25 Comments

I’d been watching out for the Pretty Powerful palettes from Bobbi Brown ever since I’d heard about them. The principle behind these face palettes are 1 palette to rule them all! Mwahahhaah….!!

Actually no. What they are are simple palettes that allow you to transform your look in just 5 minutes from beautiful to “Pretty Powerful” and the story behind it is that we everyday women are beautiful, and we are powerful, if we just have that bit of confidence. And if a touch of makeup can help you, there you go 🙂

bobbi brown pretty powerful message

Being from Bobbi Brown, the palettes are rather… neutral. For want of a better word. I personally think they look like every other Bobbi Brown palette out there. So if you already have a ton and a half of neutral palettes, you’d likely pass.

If you don’t, and we can’t all judge others by what we ourselves own, and you’d like a palette that’s an all in one to tote around, you could do worse than give these Pretty Powerful palettes a second look 🙂

Be Pretty in Prints with the Clinique Milly Pretty in Prints Palette and Milly Pink Lipgloss

February 28, 2011 Paris B 28 Comments

We took a quick look at the Clinique x Milly Spring 2011 collection palette last week. I focused more on the prints in that post 😉 But today its about the palette and its a very pretty neutral palette in my view. So those who like colour and bright shades might find this one rather… dull. However, if you like something a little more natural and wearable to conservative offices, or if you just like a fresh natural look, this palette might do the trick 🙂

The eye colours are quite a good mix of colours. Pink isn’t a colour I voluntarily put on my eyes, but for some reason, if you mix it in with the brown, its really pretty, and it isn’t very pink at all. At least you don’t end up with the rabbit eye look. The cream shimmer and bronze-brown are a little gritty to the touch, and I find the colours apply better with a brush. The dark brown makes a lovely liner and works very well in the crease area. I mix the two browns for the areas close to the lash line and the crease, and use the pink and cream for lid colour and highlight.

To complete the look is the limited edition Clinique Long Last Glosswear lipgloss in Milly Pink. Milly Pink as we learnt the last round is the signature pink of the Milly fashion collection. This was actually my first time trying the Clinique long last glosswear lipgloss so let’s see how they fare.

Pretty Affordable Foldable Ballet Flats For When You Can’t Stand It Anymore

February 27, 2011 Paris B 32 Comments

I lurve finding something I’ve been looking for, for ages. And I lurve it even better when I find it at a bargainlicious price. Oh and even better, I lurve it that its widely available so all of YOU can run out there and get it too! 😀

When Tine told us about her foldable flats, I went on a hunt for them. Oh I know they are available online under various brands and all that, but I am a very tactile shopper and I prefer being able to see and touch the things I buy. The other drawback was that they are pretty pricey online if purchased from overseas. I also found some online stores locally selling these sorts of foldable flats but they were about RM50 a pair and I wasn’t up to paying that sort of money for “emergency flats”.

Yes, that’s what these ballet flats essentially are . They are foldable, so you can tuck them in your handbag to pull out when your feet just can’t stand being in heels anymore. Don’t tell me you’ve never worn a gorgeous pair of stilettos and after a few hours, wish you could change to something cute but importantly, flat – just to give your aching feet (and back) a break. I always do 😛 And yes, darlings, I found such cute, foldable ballet flats available locally and easily and importantly, at an affordable price! 😀

Brilliant White: Estee Lauder Cyberwhite Brilliant Cells skincare

February 26, 2011 Paris B 19 Comments

When I found out that the Estee Lauder Cyberwhite skincare line had undergone yet another revamp, my initial thought was “Eh? Again?!” You might remember the revamp last year. My 2nd thought was “I hope they’ve done something about the cleanser!” I tried it before under the original line and sadly didn’t like it. I did try the night cream from last year’s collection and I liked that – never got round to telling you about it before this revamp. Guess its too late now 😛

This year its all about the cells. The new incarnation of the Estee Lauder Cyberwhite range is Brilliant Cells which addresses barely visible spots, small surface spots, stubborn age spots and recurring spots – the 4 different types of spots commonly found in Asian skins. My favourite item however, which I immediately ran off to purchase, wasn’t a skincare item, strangely enough 😉
