When I found out that the Estee Lauder Cyberwhite skincare line had undergone yet another revamp, my initial thought was “Eh? Again?!” You might remember the revamp last year. My 2nd thought was “I hope they’ve done something about the cleanser!” I tried it before under the original line and sadly didn’t like it. I did try the night cream from last year’s collection and I liked that – never got round to telling you about it before this revamp. Guess its too late now 😛
This year its all about the cells. The new incarnation of the Estee Lauder Cyberwhite range is Brilliant Cells which addresses barely visible spots, small surface spots, stubborn age spots and recurring spots – the 4 different types of spots commonly found in Asian skins. My favourite item however, which I immediately ran off to purchase, wasn’t a skincare item, strangely enough 😉
But just quickly about the skincare line. The Cyberwhite Brilliant Cells skincare line still targets those who want a whitening/brightening effect on the skin. Primarily, it would target those who have problems with dark spots, pigmentation or perhaps a dull skintone.
On a personal note, I sometimes mix in a whitening/brightening skincare item into my skincare line up to help with a dull skintone. I don’t always use a full whitening line up but I do mix in a serum or cream. I find that using it helps to maintain a clearer brighter skintone, or help target my problems with dark spots.
I tried most of the range in situ one morning and I must say that I rather liked the Brightening Moisture Cream and Brightening UV Protector with SPF50/ PA+++. The former reminds me of the previous night cream I liked (and probably replaces it) and the latter intrigues me because I have a “thing” for sunscreens 🙂 Incidentally, my present stock of sunscreens are at an all time low so I might want to give this one a try. It would however really piss me off if they run off and change the formula etc again next year 😛
Now! What was it that I really liked then?
This! The *sucks in deep breath* Estee Lauder CyberWhite Brilliant Perfection Extra Brightening Loose powder SPF15/PA++ *whew*
Its a translucent loose powder with tiny shimmer and it adds a lovely glow to the skin while helping to set your foundation. You only need a little puffed over your skin, or dusted over with a fluffy brush and its really nice. Don’t worry about looking glittery – you won’t 🙂 Its also a little pink so it helps give a brighter look to the skin.
Anyway, it certainly impressed me so after the briefing, I headed down to the nearest Estee Lauder counter and picked it up 😛 I’ll tell you about this in greater detail soon 🙂
The range is already on sale at Estee Lauder counters and there will be some promotions going on that you can check out on the Estee Lauder Malaysia Facebook page and a game you can play to win full size Cyberwhite Brilliant Cells products.
Have you tried the Estee Lauder Cyberwhite range of skincare? The names change as they go but the principle behind the line doesn’t i.e. its a line targeted at those who are interested in a whitening/brightening skincare range so if this isn’t a concern then I guess it will fly right over your head 🙂 But that loose powder isn’t limited to just those who like whitening products, you know? 😉

I’m not a fan of whitening stuff, so I don’t think I’ll be trying this. I received a few of the old range as samples and I gave it away to someone who’s really keen on those stuff and she liked it so much she bought them in full size. To tell you the truth can’t see much difference 😉 maybe some spots are lighter, but she’s always been fair (as in pale fair) so maybe it helps to maintain what she already has. But I’m using their Skin Defender Multi Assault Protector SPF30/PA as a sunscreen and so far that works for me. Not oily, no white mark residue, matte finishing. On the other hand am looking for loose face powder, so maybe I’ll get this Extra Brightening Loose Powder instead.
ParisB says
Ya, some people like using whitening products because it helps them stay fair – the curse of living in Asia LOL! 😀 I’m glad to know the sunscreen works for you. I’m quite intrigued by it so I might suck it up 😛 I hope you’ll like the loose powder – do give it a go at the counter first 😉

i want this!! been looking for a loose powder that doesnt break me out (meteorites and RMK loose powder DOES) which is weird cos i know they dont break anyone else out.
ParisB says
Wha..??? Meteorites breaks you out?! 🙁 I hope this one doesn’t.
Hanny says
^.^ I wanna try to loose powder too!
ParisB says
Cool! 🙂 Give it a go at the counter 🙂
Applegal says
Would SPF50 be overkill for daily use though? I usually use SPF30, because some sales assistants tell me that SPF50 may be too strong for sensitive skin. . .
ParisB says
Hmm… personally I don’t use anything below SPF50 for the face everyday, rain or shine, indoors or outdoors 🙂 Most people say SPF30 is sufficient. It probably is but I just prefer my SPF 50 🙂

Hi Paris – Sorry about going back to BB Creams ( you probably think I am obsessed about BB creams) but I found a Korean brand which I think is quite good and would like to share it with you and your readers. Its by Etude House and it comes in two formulations – For Sheer Silky Skin (for Oily Skins) and For Sheer Glowing Skin ( For dry Skins) Its really sheer yet gives excellent coverage without looking too mask-y or cake-y. But just put a little ( that’s the real secret) and pat it on. I mean it was the Koreans who invented the BB Creams so I gathered they must have the best ones.
Do try it and let me know what you think!
ParisB says
Thanks for sharing Chin! Actually BB creams were invented by the Germans and popularized by the Koreans. I used to think they were a Korean invention too 🙂 I had a bad experience with Etude House before (too oily and not a good colour match) but if I do find myself wanting to try a BB cream at any time soon I’ll give this a look but it may/may not happen. This might help someone out there too.

Hi Paris,
The way you describe the EL loose powder is really tempting me to try it. I’ve been using EL Advanced Night Repair for 2 mths and really loving it. I’ve been given samples of Hydrationist Maximum moisture cream and it’s good too. It really moisturised my face and not leave any sticky feeling. Been planning to buy it but here comes the new brightening range and I’m tempted to try the Brightening Moisture Cream.. :p
But my face is very sensitive coz it will develop small red bumps all over my face if I used a wrong cream, I think. I just started using the Neutrogena Hydra Boost Water Gel which had been highly raved but this also caused me to breakout! The only thing is safe for me is the ANR and the Hydrationist cream. So I’m skeptical to try the brightening cream. So scared of having red bumps all over my face again!
Just want to know if anyone with sensitive skin tried it before?
ParisB says
Hey Mimi, I’d suggest you head down to an Estee Lauder counter and ask for samples of the moisture cream if you’re interested to see if it’ll work for you. I did not try the Neutrogena Hydra Boost gel because the scent was way too strong for me. Perhaps a sample will help you decide if the cream will aggravate your skin 🙂

Used to use the cyberwhite gel foundation, liquid foundation and 2way cake for a year plus. It’s not bad but i’ve moved on since. Too much temptations and choices out there. One of my new love is Givenchy’s loose powder in 06 Fresh Rose. Don’t be put off by one of the pink in there which looks pink enough to be a blush. It’s actually not so and gives face a fresh radiance.
ParisB says
LOL!! You and me both! There are waaayyy too many things out there for me to be loyal to just one product 😛 I might have come across the Givenchy loose powder (can’t remember because I also can’t remember if we still have Givenchy counters here!) but it does sound awesomely intriguing! 😀

Another good reason why I look forward to reading your posts every morning! Just running low on loose powder and pondering buying your much-touted Meteorites but now wondering if I should opt for this EL Cyberwhite loose powder instead. Would you consider them as close substitutes? Sure need all the radiance I can get!
ParisB says
LOL in other words, I make you spend money 😛 Just quickly comparing, I’d say that this loose powder is more shimmery than the Guerlain powders. Those dont show up as shimmer on the skin, but they add radiance. This one has a more glowy shimmery look, if that makes sense >.<
Ginny says
It would be money well-spent, esp. when highly recommended by you. Whenever I need to replenish skincare or makeup, I would turn to your blog. Always. I will be looking forward to your in-detail post about your experience with this new EL product, complete with photos and perhaps, a side-by-side comparison with Meteorites. This could make me a returning customer of EL, after “straying” to other brands out of curiosity piqued by my favourite beauty blogger.
ParisB says
Haha thanks so much Ginny! It thrills me to no end to know that the reviews help someone 😀 I will try to post about the powder soon with comparisons as you suggest.
