A morning with Dior, Kate Moss and the new Dior Addict Lipstick

February 25, 2011 Paris B 61 Comments

Last week, this elaborately beribboned box and hot pink envelope landed on my desk.

Ooh err… what is it?! Much more intriguing was the sticker behind the envelope that said “Open the box before the envelope”. Alamak! Suspense…. (for foreign readers, “Alamak!” is a Malaysian exclamation of surprise, horror, shock, happiness, everything in between :P)

In the end, I did open up the box, and nestled inside was a pair of sunglasses and a note from err… Kate Moss with an invitation to the launch of the new Dior Addict lipsticks! 😉

so that's what's in there!

Being my first time at a big press launch of a major luxury brand, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The invitation card called for a dress code, but it was a work day so I couldn’t quite do the rock or glam look. But they sent a car to pick me up, which should really have made me twig. We were being feted with a superstar experience!

And truly, it was! 😀 I’ve also got a few sneak peeks of the new Dior Addict lipsticks for your viewing pleasure 😉

February 24, 2011 Paris B 7 Comments

I made time to check out the Lancome Ultra Lavande Spring 2011 collection because I had to see how that pretty face palette looked. Yes, I know its now “old news” but its a pretty collection so let’s take a look anyway 🙂

Oh hello! Here’s the star product of the collection that flew off the shelves before I had a chance to say hello – Butterflies Fever. But here it is! HELLO! 😀 Glowy Ballerina is its name – purdy? 🙂

Don’t be Mired in an Ocean of dead skin cells : Let the Ocean Mire Peeling Gel and Spa Moist rescue you

February 24, 2011 Paris B 2 Comments

I love coming across new products that work well for me but I would love it better if they were more easily accessible. The Ocean Mire Peeling Gel and Spa Moist are 2 such products. I would love if they were easier to find, so if you know where to find them in stores instead of online, please do holler in the comments!

Now what exactly are these Ocean Mire products? They don’t come as a set, but I found that using them together made my skin feel and look amazingly smooth. Well, smoother than I’m used to, that is.

Ocean Mire Peeling Gel

This one’s a peeling gel. If you are familiar with Asian skincare, you will have come across this sort of gel, which helps lift off dead skin cells from your skin to reveal smoother brighter skin, without having to use a physical abrasive scrub. There are quite a few brands around that have this.

Just Trying: C Michael Trichologica HairomaTherapy affordable hair care

February 23, 2011 Paris B 10 Comments

Have you noticed this range of hair care at the local pharmacies yet? I spotted a whole rack at Watson’s recently, and it really is very affordably priced at between RM16.90-RM24.90 (those I saw) So when I was requested to give these a go, I was game. After all, if it works well, it would be a great inexpensive find.

C. Michael is supposed to be formulated in the UK but I can’t find much information about the brand or its products online. It is being distributed here by a local company, so really, I’m not quite sure where it hails from or who C. Michael really is. Still, let’s see how the products fare on my hair alright? 🙂

For reference, I have dry, sometimes frizzy colour treated hair that is naturally full of volume.

Hairomatherapy Luminous Colour Cream Shampoo and Cream Conditioner (yellow – RM16.90/200ml each)

The Hairomatherapy Luminous Colour range is for coloured and permed hair. Perfect! According to the brochure, its ideal for naturally dry or chemically treated hair and is made to moisturize and strengthen dull, dry and fragile hair giving it shine, body and manageability.

Both the shampoo and conditioner have a very thick consistency and a bit of a strange smell. Not unpleasant, just a little unusual. Usually, hair care tend to have a more flowery or fruity scent but these don’t. The shampoo cleans the hair quite well and you don’t need very much conditioner to detangle your hair. The conditioner does not leave your hair and bathroom floor feeling slippery which is great because you don’t have to use a lot. According to the brochure I should have soft hair with increased manageability, volume and shine.
