That’s “Wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year!” in Mandarin 🙂

Today’s the 1st day of the Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year and we’ll be welcoming in the Year of the Rabbit. Eh, What’s up doc?! 😀 It will be interesting to see what happens in the year of what is known to be one of the milder signs of the Chinese Zodiac. Thank you for staying with me through the firey Year of the Tiger and I hope to see more of you this Year of the Rabbit!

As is traditional, MWS will be on hiatus this festive period. I’m away at home enjoying the New Year celebrations with my family and stuffing my face with good food and cookies 😀 I’m sure many of you will be too.

I’ll be back after the weekend. There are some really nice things in store.

In the meantime, go spend some time with your family too and I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year!

Lancome Genifique Youth Activator Serum : A year later and a size bigger

My Mom’s birthday is just round the corner and I planned to get her a gift which seems to be stuck somewhere else for now. In a bit of desperation, I turned to the beauty counters and my eyes fell on the Lancome Genifique Youth Activator Serum. Aha!

Its been a year since the launch of Lancome’s Genifique serum, but its still doing well and the new giant sized bottle is testament to its success 😀 This is the new 75ml bottle of Genifique which will last Mom a while.

Just Sampling: Shielo Shampoo and Conditioner

Occasionally I receive a product for review that comes in a sample size sachet or pot, or I obtain a sample sachet from the cosmetics counters. I use it at most 2-3 times so I can’t tell you if its really good or if in the long term I’d hate it or love it. So “Just Sampling” is quite self-explanatory in this regard. I will only talk about texture and first impressions of the product and there will be no pros and cons nor details. You get a “sample” of a full review as it were 🙂

Shielo Shampoo and Conditioner

I received some samples from the people at Shielo. I lost my photos of the sample bottles so the picture shows the stock images.

The shampoo sample (Color Protect Strengthening Shampoo) lasted about 4 washes. You only need a little to lather up and hair felt clean. The coconut smell was quite strong though, unless you like that sort of scent.

In this day and age of fast information and globalization, we find ourselves learning and absorbing a lot from other cultures around the world. Some good, some less so.

But with the Chinese New Year looming in just 2 days, I’m curious. Are you a traditionalist? Do you keep to traditional values and cultures for celebrations at least? In fact, this is true not only for those who celebrate Chinese New Year, but for any cultural festival or just life in general.
