Your Say: What was the last foundation you finished and would you repurchase?

February 28, 2017 Paris B 42 Comments

Last week, my friend sent me a picture of a finished jar of foundation. It was scraped clean. Every last bit had been used. I was very impressed. So I got to thinking – What was the last foundation I finished?

What impressed me further, was when she told me that she would repurchase it, because she was so happy with it. And I wondered again. Was there a foundation I loved so much I’d finish it AND repurchase?

Well, actually I have! And you have to tell me yours 😉

The Makeup Brush Collective Part 1 : Brushes I use for the face – Liquid Foundation and Powder

January 9, 2017 Paris B 22 Comments

I received some eagle-eyed queries not long ago about makeup brushes and why I’d stopped writing about them. Well, it’s not for want of owning them. I am still mad about my makeup brushes, in particular Japanese made natural hair brushes, but I’ve reached my optimum satisfaction point – anything after this would be diminishing utility <- economics! argh! LOL

So, I’ve stopped buying and ogling the beautifully crafted Japanese makeup brushes (my wallet thanks me profusely), and am quite content with what I own. Also, I own A LOT. It’s embarrassing for someone who isn’t even a makeup artist, nor wears that much makeup daily. So, instead of pulling them out one by one to feature here on the blog, I’m going to talk about makeup brushes as a collective.

makeup brushes for face

For this week, I’ll be featuring makeup brushes I use most often for face, eyes and cheeks. I’ll show you the type of brush, so you can find other options out there if you like, to see if the type of brush suits your makeup style. I’ll also tell you in gist how I work with these makeup brushes and why I use them and why I like them, if course.

We’ll kick off with makeup brushes for the face and lest I’m left to do all the talking, please let me know what your favourites are in this category too! 🙂

If lipstick be your vice then you might Crush on the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick

October 31, 2016 Paris B 12 Comments

First off, HELLO FRIENDS!

Thank you so much for all your kind words and concern and well wishes after that last post. I truly appreciate it all and I hope never to have to repeat it! With that, I’m going to just get right back into the swing of things, because well, that’s the best way to go about it right?

And what better way than to jump back than with a spot of colour. The Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks were launched a few months ago with a mind-boggling array of over 100 lipstick colours in 6 different textures. I don’t have them all, naturally. I wasn’t important enough to be seeded nor offered to try, but they interested me for one simple reason – they were actually pretty affordable.

Well, I use the word “affordable” loosely, because it still is pricey at RM70 (US$17), just less so, compared to many new lipstick launches from all the major brands. I eventually scored 2 samples out of the whopping 120 shades available (I’m told that not all are available here yet – they’ll trickle in) in the Vice Lipstick range, that basically supersedes and revamps the whole Urban Decay lipstick lines.

They have been out a while by now, and I’m sure that many of you already have tried it and have views on it, so you know the drill – let me know what you think 😉

I’ll be Fair and Neutral about the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (but I also compare it to my HG!)

April 6, 2015 Paris B 18 Comments

I’m actually quite a fan of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation, one which I’ve forgotten time and again to dedicate a full review to, but one that I use quite often. I’d picked it as one of my Top 8 Liquid Foundations, which is no mean feat, considering I have quite a few in rotation. I’ll remedy this soon (I hope!) I keep saying it but I really should just buckle down and get to it instead of just saying it eh? 🙂

When I first heard that Urban Decay was coming up with a concealer in the same formula, I have to say I was interested. While I have my holy grail concealer that I’d already repurchased, I’m quite a sucker for concealer.

I use a very light foundation base most of the time, so concealer is what I use and need, to help hide flaws that my foundation can’t deal with. I usually use them around my under-eye area (bad nights – what can I say?!) and along my cheekbones where my pigmentation/freckles are at their worst. So far, I’ve eschewed all concealer for my HG product.

But then one day, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer landed on my desk, and I got curious. What if I liked this as much as I like their Naked Skin Foundation? What if this was my new Holy Grail? (Women, we’re fickle!) Well, there was only one way to find out! 😀
