Quick update: Unexpected break seguing into a scheduled break

October 22, 2016 Paris B 53 Comments

Hi everyone

My apologies for falling off the grid the past few days. I don’t usually feel the need to apologise for not updating the blog, but my disappearance was was a little more sudden, and a little more prolonged than I had earlier expected, so I felt a short explanation was necessary.

hospital

For most of last week, I had been tucked away in the hospital, due to an unexplained viral attack, that left me with a low white blood cell and platelet count and rashes all over my body, even on my face. This is one incidence when I have no tips for you except to get to a hospital, stat! 😛 I suppose this must be what a computer programme feels like, when they get a virus – weak and disoriented LOL! 😀 I’m discharged now, and am, for the most part, feeling fine, albeit a little tired still.

The main reason I decided to pen a short note is because my unexpected break was coincidentally seguing into a scheduled break, that would really mean my October blogging schedule is pretty much out of whack 😛

I won’t be blogging in the coming week, which is a scheduled break that I take every year on occasion of my birthday next week. No one should ever have to work on their birthday, so if there’s one thing you do for yourself on that one special day, take the day off! 🙂 Or like me, take the week off haha! 😀

While this wasn’t quite how I expected it to be (I usually write a personal little note on that occasion), it’s just a quick update to let you know what’s happening so it doesn’t seem like I’ve just fallen off the face of the earth. This year’s birthday has been a little eclipsed by my hospital stint, but I’m glad I won’t have to spend my day in there, even if it was quite a pleasant stay at the end of it all – barring the pricking of my arms for blood tests, that is 🙂

If you’ve sent an email or a Tweet, or a message on Instagram, I’m sorry for not getting back to you. I may eventually do, or I may not. But thank you anyway, and I’ll hopefully be back to normal after next week.

xoxo

Thank you! I think you’d understand how it is when we get older – birthdays start meaning a lot less about celebrations and more about ourselves right? 🙂 It was a nice quiet time this year and I’m definitely on the mend!

Been thinking about you every day, specially since you said you were unwell. I’m glad you’re on the mend. Rest and relax. Sometimes we forget, we’re not super women. Advance happy birthday to you!

Thank you so much for the concern Cecilia! It does seem like the hospital episode was a culmination of my being sick for over a month. I’d gotten so tired of being sick, I just wanted it all to be over! Happy to report that I’m definitely back on the mend, and feeling much better. You are right, we aren’t superwomen and sometimes, we are just laid low – birthdays are a good time to remind us to take time for ourselves 🙂

Thank you so much! I spent a lot of time lying down to be honest because I was so tired all the time, but it was a good time to catch up with TV. My appetite is slowly returning which means I’m perpetually hungry! haha… So much for all the post-illness weight loss 🙂 I must get my butt to Greece, thank you!
