The long awaited Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette review – Is it a must have?

October 25, 2010 Paris B 59 Comments

Outside of MAC’s monthly releases, name one eyeshadow palette that has reached cult status to the extent of selling out multiple times online, and having the dubious honour of being extremely hard to find. So hard to find, some people are willing to pay extra just to get hold of it.

Its the Urban Decay Naked palette and I’ll be honest, I don’t know why people are paying crazy prices for a permanent item. Yes ladies, the infamous Naked palette is permanent so if you can’t get it today, wait. It’ll come back in stock and you can get it the next time. Few things in life are worth paying over retail for – please bear this in mind!

Secondly, we will get a Sephora in Malaysia soon if the rumours are true; and if its anything like Sephora Singapore, we’ll see Urban Decay making an appearance. If it does, we will see Naked on the shelves. So don’t jump the gun right now. UPDATE: Sephora Malaysia is open both at KLCC and Bukit Bintang and it stocks Urban Decay. The Naked Palette retails locally at RM175 but goes out of stock often.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, Ladies, say Hello to Naked. A paletteful of neutral eyeshadows that has grown women salivating over it like it was a Naked Chippendale – which it is not 😛 If you aren’t a fan of neutral eyeshadows, you will not get the hype, and rightly so too.

But we can’t deny it looks good. And its not all that pricey, everything considered. In the USA it retails at US$44 and in the UK its £27 while in Singapore, its S$73. I will not expect it to exceed RM200 if it comes to Malaysia because if it does, its too much to pay! If you’ve paid more than RM200 you’ve been swindled!

Urban Decay Primer Potion : Is it a genie in a bottle and a Hall of Fame product?

February 22, 2010 Paris B 41 Comments

I’d known about the Urban Decay Primer Potion for years now. In beauty circles its also affectionately known as UDPP. Believe me, when you are new to makeup forums and people throw around acronyms like UDPP, you learn fast or be left out!

What it is is a primer for the eyelid area, to be applied before putting on eyeshadow. Its supposed to help eyeshadow last on your lids longer, and make the colour more intense. I resisted the lure of UDPP for years.

Urban Decay Hall of Fame set with Supersize Primer Potion

Until last year when Sephora went on sale and I had a kind offer from an online friend in the USA who offered to shop for me. Uhoh – big mistake! I blew a ton and one item I got for myself was the Urban Decay Hall of Fame set (US$29) ostensibly because it had the Primer Potion in a 60% more than normal size – I like getting my value for money 😛

The Primer Potion in the set is a larger than normal size and the packaging just wants to make you rub it and hope a genie appears where you can wish for great skin all the time …. or a million dollars LOL… But since that’s far fetched, the next best option was to see what the hype was about the Primer Potion.
