Lightweight foundation that’s barely there like a puff of Diorskin Nude Air

August 10, 2015 Paris B 24 Comments

Earlier this year, we were treated to a slew of new foundations from different brands, and noticeable among the new offerings were these “serum foundations” – liquid foundation infused with skincare benefits like that of a serum, so your makeup doesn’t compromise your skin.

I tried the one from Bobbi Brown a while ago, and I liked it, much to my surprise. It might be because of the texture, which is a little creamier and therefore kinder to more *ahem* matured or drier skin types. Then, I was later offered to try the Dior Diorskin Nude Air foundation. Naturally, I said yes. I had to see if one of my favourite brands for foundation got it right.

Well, let’s just say that I wasn’t as enamoured with the Diorskin Nude Air foundation as I was with the Diorskin Nude which I still use and still love to bits. That one’s one of my Top 8 foundations and suffice to say, this one won’t make it. It won’t even get a sniff at anywhere near the top BUT I don’t think it’s all bad. I think I am not as in love with this as many people, because I believe it suits someone with combination-oily skin better than someone with drier skin.

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation : I never thought I’d see Cordyceps used in a foundation!

June 15, 2015 Paris B 19 Comments

In late 2014 when I heard about a slew of new foundations being released by the various beauty brands, I predicted quite accurately, that 2015 would be the “Year of Foundation” and in a way, I’ve been right. 2015 has seen quite a few brands launch or relaunch their foundations and interestingly, something called a “serum foundation”. What this is, is touted as a light-textured foundation with skincare benefits.

One of the first of these serum foundations that I experienced was the Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation, which I previewed back in January 2015 (Newsletter peeps had a first look at it back then too!) It’s been available since April and erm… yes, it’s taken me a while to get round to it. What can I say? I’m tardy!

But since then I’m sure you’ve already read all about this product or may even have used it yourself, so I’d love for you to chip in with your thoughts on it. That’s ‘cos I kind of like this product. I’ve been using it quite often since I received it, and I like how it feels on my skin, and importantly, how it offers fairly good coverage, with a nice glow to the skin.

I am however, not crazy about how it smells, so I’m curious if you feel the same way.

A Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation with lightweight texture and high coverage by Laura Mercier

May 15, 2015 Paris B 20 Comments

The only reason I started wearing liquid foundation was because all these wonderful brands started releasing liquid foundations that were lightweight on skin without wearing like a mask. Yet, so often, lightweight is equated with sheer doesn’t it? Well, this one isn’t, and it’s one of my favourite new foundations (I’m working on a new compilation after my Top 8 fave foundations – Next 8 favourite maybe?) with 2 caveats.

This new foundation is the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation, which is such a mouthful I just call it the Fluide foundation. It was released early in 2015 and from online reports, seems very well received, and rightly so I feel 🙂

First off, the packaging is sleek and compact. If you ever want a foundation that you can take travelling with you or slip it into a slim makeup pouch, this would be it.

I’m not saying I dislike the 3CE Glossing Waterful Foundation… Oh heck! I do!

March 16, 2015 Paris B 49 Comments

One of the perils about reading and depending on online product reviews is that quite often, most reviews are raves about favourite products; so when you come across a product review of something you’re looking for, 90% of the time, it’s a rave (or it could be sponsored 😛 ). I’m not assigning blame to anyone. Heck, I myself often only post raves on my blog because that’s what gets me excited to share. Not much fun whining and moaning about a product you hate right?

Ok, actually yes, it’s a lot of fun, especially when you really REALLY hate a product 😀

But my point is that we really do need a more balanced selection of product reviews out there, because then I wouldn’t have been bloody suckered into trying this lemon.

For some reason, I’d been curious about this particular product. I love foundation and as much as I rave about the ones I like (and there are TONS!) my roving eye is always out there, looking for something else to like. And for some strange reason, 3CE Glossing Waterful Foundation came into my foundation-seeking radar. The plethora of positive press out there doesn’t help me, naturally.

The problem was that 3CE (3 Concept Eyes – I know, it’s a weird name that should have set off my spidey senses) isn’t a brand you can walk into a counter and buy. I don’t even know where it’s sold locally, and only knew that it was available online at a webstore I boycotted, so that meant I had no access to this.

However, as luck would have it, I spotted a selection of 3CE products at my hairdresser, and the price was far lower than what I’d get online, so I decided to finally assuage my curiousity once and for all. Well, let me just say that I’m glad I scratched that itch. In fact, I scratched it so hard, I bled (or my wallet did) 😛
