The Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is quite possibly the most luxurious face mist I’ve ever tried

March 29, 2019 Paris B 10 Comments

A few years ago, if you had asked me about face mists, I’d have scoffed at them. Today however, I’m a huge proponent of face mists! Coincidentally (or not), the market seems quite saturated with them, so I have my pick of the litter. I don’t do pure water mists anymore. My facial mists need a little more oomph!

Knowing how much I enjoy using face mists, a friend of mine had been waxing lyrical about the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist for ages.

I had to try this! she proclaimed. It is one of the best face mists she’s ever used, keeping her skin well hydrated and comfortable in winter with its low humidity, and plumped up in hot hot summers.

Unfortunately for us here in Malaysia, it is next to impossible to get hold of Tatcha in stores. While it is sold in Sephora Singapore, it isn’t available here just yet. So, our next best option is to buy from the Tatcha online store, where shipping is astronomical.

I bided my time, until quite recently, a friend happened to be in Singapore, happened to end up with a spare bottle of the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, and so happened to remember that I wanted to try it! The stars were aligned! 😀

What I think is worth checking out in the Chanel le Blanc Pierres de Lumiere 2019 makeup collection

March 27, 2019 Paris B 9 Comments

Truth to tell, I was going to skip over the Chanel le Blanc 2019 Pierres de Lumiere makeup collection. This was more so after I was told, just after I’d received the products, that some of them are already out of stock at the boutique!

Whaaattt?!

It makes me feel a little redundant, truth to tell.

Also, I felt that the colours weren’t quite me. le Blanc collections tend to be heavy on light colours and pastels and truth to tell, can come across as insipid.

But there was one item in the collection that had caught my eye the day I saw it in the Chanel beauty boutique. It was the Tissages de Chanel blush in Tweed Beige. I thought it looked quite unique.

And then, I started playing around with the colours, and I realised that they were actually wearable, and some of the key items are permanent items. So I present to you the Chanel le Blanc Pierres de Lumiere makeup collection 🙂

The Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm made me fall in love with face flannels again

March 25, 2019 Paris B 9 Comments

I am an avid user of cleansing balm or balm cleansers. You all know that. I have a whole repository dedicated to the ones I’ve tried, because I’ve tried and used so many over the years. Some I love, some I don’t.

You may notice I haven’t been talking about them lately. There’s a good reason. I’m trying to be good about using up my skincare, and all that takes a while. So, when I love a product, I don’t want it to go bad, so I spend more time on it.

But when I was using up my latest ones (Innisfree Cleansing Balm and Elemis Pro-Collagen cleansing balm) I realised that I’d strayed a little further than I thought from my favourite TYPE of cleansing balm.

Newer formulations of cleansing balms tend to emulsify with water, which makes them easier to rinse off. This makes cleansing balm more acceptable to many people, because it is easy to use, and familiar if you’re coming from the world of cleansing oils.

But truth be told, as convenient as it is, it isn’t the TYPE of cleansing balm I favour. So, when I broke open by Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm that I’d been saving for a while, and found myself reaching once again for my face flannel, I knew I’d love this one!

Coming to terms with my pigmentation problem and some thoughts on laser skin treatments

March 22, 2019 Paris B 29 Comments

I’ve been intending to write about this subject for a while, but finding the time to organize my thought process and to pen (or type) it all down has been challenging. But after a recent chat with someone at an event, or close encounter of the nosy kind, I decided to just sit down and pour my thoughts out here, just so I have a point of reference that I can point people to when I am asked certain inevitable questions.

One of the most common questions I’m asked is “Have you considered laser treatment for your skin?” This is usually in relation to residual acne scars I have and primarily, my hyperpigmentation on my cheeks.

thoughts on pigmentation and laser treatment

I often find people’s eyes wandering over to the spots on my cheeks where I have hyperpigmentation or also commonly referred to as “pigmentation”. This is more so when I am speaking to people who are in the aesthetics business. I acknowledge that it is a skin problem I have.

But what puzzles many people is this – As a fairly known and somewhat successful beauty blogger, should I not want to take steps or undergo treatments that will reduce or remove this obvious problem? Might this not make me a more “credible” beauty blogger? After all, the general aesthetic for bloggers is clear, glowing, flawless, poreless skin with zero imperfections.

Let me guess – you have thought the same whenever you look at some of my more close-up or bare skin before-after photos 🙂 Don’t worry, I’m used to it 🙂 This is what I have to say.

Famous last words 😅 Can’t believe how tiny he was last CNY. I could make him do whatever I wanted. Now, he’s got a mind of his own and it’s “no treats, no work!” 🤪
It’s an unusual Chinese New Year this year. It’s the first time since I left home that I did not make an early morning drive home for CNY for the reunion dinner (I always do so to beat traffic). It’s the first time I’m spending CNY in KL. It’s the first time my hair is looking such a mess for CNY 😂
Regardless, we do this not for ourselves but for others so we can have more joyful CNY celebrations to come.
Wishing all of you a Happy, healthy Chinese New Year filled with Ox-picious tidings 🧧 Gong Xi Fa Cai and enjoy the festive break! ❤️
