Because I love Sulwhasoo and ginseng, I should also love the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Water right?

March 11, 2019 Paris B 8 Comments

The Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Water was a new addition to the ginseng range some time last year. I was so intrigued when I first saw it, that I had to get myself a bottle right away!

First though, calling this a ‘water’ is a bit confusing. Most of us know what water looks and feels like – clear and liquid. But this isn’t.

The Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Water is thick, viscous and slightly opaque. It does not bring to mind the idea of ‘water’ whatsoever! I’d call this a lotion or essence, if I had to find a word for it.

But what it really is, is a toner. A RM300/US$80 bottle of hydrating toner. It better jolly well be worth it!

It’s been 12 years that I’ve been blogging and I still don’t feel like I’m good enough

March 8, 2019 Paris B 107 Comments

Ok, I had to say it.

I wanted to be all up-beat about it being already 12 years that I’ve been blogging. It’s been quite a roller-coaster ride, and I honestly cannot believe that I’ve lasted this long in the cat-scratch-cat world of blogging.

As much as it sounds like I’m whining, or that I sound ungrateful, the blog anniversary has hit me a little harder this time around.

I tried using Baking Soda and Vinegar to clean my oven and it did not work! But here’s what did

March 6, 2019 Paris B 43 Comments

I’m going to tell you a funny-tragic story about my oven, that will either leave you shaking your head at how dumb I was, or make you laugh. I hope it’s the latter.

When I bought my oven (built-in design) I thought I had bought a self-cleaning oven. Because I thought it was self-cleaning, without looking up what that meant, I thought it meant that I didn’t have to actually clean it after each use because it’d take care of it itself.

Fast forward a few years (about 4 yikes!) and many oven uses later, I realised that the inside of my oven was, to put it mildly, filthy. I don’t bake cakes and biscuits, so my oven is primarily used for cooking savouries. Sometimes, as is wont to happen, spills and oil spatters occur. The inside of my oven was coated with a pretty gross patina of grease and oil.

Last week, after a particularly delicious roasted pork belly episode, I decided I’d tackle this cleaning malarkey once and for all. The story has been fully documented on Instagram (watch it on the Oven Chronicles Highlights tab to follow my adventures LOL! 😀 ) but I wanted to share in depth, why I chose to do what I did and its effects.

I looked up online for ways to clean a dirty oven, and found so many advocates for what is popularly known as the “natural way to clean your oven”, using a mixture of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) and vinegar. It promised a clean, sparkling oven without poisoning yourself and your family.

Let me tell you this – It’s bollocks 😛

Tackle fine lines and first signs of aging the natural and organic way with the Melvita Argan Concentrate Pur range

March 4, 2019 Paris B 2 Comments

Truth to tell, despite all the wonderful things I’ve read and been told about how great Argan oil is for the skin, it eludes me. In the past, I’ve broken out from using argan oil, so as I do when that happens, I stay away.

Then, the lovely folks at Melvita said, “Hey PB, there’s this new great serum out, would you please have a go? But erm… it has Argan Oil….” And being the sucker for punishment that I am, I said “Bring it on!” LOL!

So that’s how the Melvita Argan Concentrate Pur Youthful Serum-Oil and Cream-Oil landed in my hands. I was more interested to know if this popular oil, known to help for softening lines and firming skin, might break me out again.

My secondary interest was in the oil-serum. I love using facial oils, as you may know, and a product that touts itself as an ‘oil-serum’ really tickles my fancy!
