The Chanel Les Beiges 2018 collection expands and I think that’s great!

In what has quickly become a favourite capsule makeup collection release of mine, the Chanel Les Beiges 2018 grabbed my fancy quite quickly. I previewed the items in the inaugural Beauty hors d’oeuvres segment, and I’ve finally had a go at some of the key releases.

As a range, the Les Beiges collection focuses on light makeup, laying emphasis on beautiful, healthy glowing skin, barely there makeup and a very natural vibe. It is no surprise therefore, that I fell for it. That is the sort of makeup I wear, and the sort of makeup I gravitate towards.

Those who prefer stronger, bolder colours may find the collection insipid. But this year, the Les Beiges takes on more colour, and that for me, is both a good and bad thing. Good, because it may appeal to a wider cross-section of the public. Bad, because it isn’t as fool-proof as it used to be.

I have a few key pieces of the collection, and will walk you through them as quickly as I can. You know how long-winded I can be 😛

Waxing lyrical and falling head over heels in love with the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

It’s no secret that I love using cleansing balm. I have a whole repository of the cleansing balms I’ve tried LOL! I used to come across one however, that received a lot of love online. It was the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. Naturally, I had to see what the fuss was about!

Elemis is a spa brand that has popped in and out of Malaysian shores for a while. I remember when it was available at Parkson department stores, when I first tried samples of the brand. Then it disappeared into a spa. I don’t even know if it’s still available here anymore, and if I’m to be honest, I’m not surprised if it no longer is.

Spa brand cosmetics do tend to be notoriously more pricey than most department store brands, and Elemis was no exception. But unlike many spa brands I’ve tried before, I found the Elemis products quite good. They were effective and my skin really loved their products. I haven’t tried many of their products since, as they disappeared from view, and you know what they say – out of sight, out of mind!

But because I kept coming across the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, and how good it was, I gave it a go. I bought it online of course, as I do almost everything these days 😛

Beauty hors d’oeuvres: The Body Shop Body Yogurt is a moisturising treat for any time of the day

Back with a new installment of the MWS Beauty hors d’oeuvres! These will be short and snappy updates (I try!) of new and upcoming releases, when they’re available, how much they’ll cost or interesting events. It won’t be very detailed, as my usual reviews are, but it will, I hope, serve its function as a quick update of interesting beauty bits for those of you who might be interested in new things.

I’ll update them as and when I can, and you can find them in the side-bar of the blog. I won’t be putting them in the main body, so it’s not too cluttered. I hope you find them enjoyable or helpful!

A few days ago, The Body Shop launched the brand new Body Yogurt. I was very intrigued. The Body Shop was, I believe, the first, or one of the first few companies to release a product called “body butter”. Today, that is synonymous with a thick body cream for dry skin.

Now, there is Body Yogurt!

Tip: Enjoy a luxury perfume for less by using the body wash and bring a little luxury into your everyday

This is a little tip I stumbled upon rather by accident quite a few years ago. It was helpful for me, and I reckoned some of you might benefit from it too because it’s a bit of a money saver as well!

It goes like this.

You know how expensive perfumes can be? Yeah, I saw you wince. Many of us would like to own that Jo Malone, or Diptyque, or Dior, or Chanel fragrance, but find it hard to part with so much money up front. Or perhaps you aren’t sure if it’s a scent you’d love after you spring so much money on it.

Here’s my tip for you.

Buy the shower gel or body wash. “But isn’t that terribly decadent?” I hear you say. Yes, it is. But there’s a method to my madness 😛 Hear me out!
