Insta-Updates: August Empties includes mascara!

August 31, 2012 Paris B 27 Comments

I honestly thought I’d only ever finish up anything or have any empties to share once every 2 months. It turns out that in recent times, I’m finishing up or tossing stuff as I go along so we actually have empties for July and now August!

august empties

This month’s empties have been a bit of a wallet buster and in the process I’ve also gotten rid of some mascara, one of which has served me well and the others of which I wasn’t terribly crazy about. Here’s a quick run down of them.

Tweet! Tweet! Ms. Early Bird Feels the Power of C with Kiehl’s Leading Lady Project

August 31, 2012 Paris B 21 Comments

Hiya Ladies!

Its a public holiday here in Malaysia on the occasion of our 55th Independance Day. Yes, we are a relatively young country and recent times have shown that we’re still going through our growing pains, working out our kinks. Hopefully we come out of it unscathed 😛 Since none of us here are headed into work, let me tell you about a little project by Kiehl’s that I’ve been roped into participating in.

kiehl's leading lady project

Kiehl’s has called this the Feel the Power of C – Leading Lady Project. Basically, what this is about is the Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, a serum containing Vitamin C to combat lines, improve skin texture and boost skin radiance. Incidentally, this was a product I used about a year or two back and one I was pretty impressed with. I’d finished up bottle #1 and was partway through bottle #2 before my attention wandered. I recommended this to a friend who loves it and has kept it a staple in her skincare regiment.

There’s no need to go searching through my archives. I never blogged about it. I don’t even know why! LOL I remember planning to, but then what with one thing and another, it slipped through the cracks. But this time, there’s no slipping through 🙂

The new Estee Lauder Perfectionist CP+R serum strives for perfection

August 30, 2012 Paris B 33 Comments

Here’s a little known fact about me. When I first started earning my own keep, one of the brands I headed to for skincare was Estee Lauder. I can’t deny that their GWPs sucked me right in although it helped that the products worked. A while ago, I cleared out my closet and gave away so many of the GWP bags and pouches I’d accumulated over the years and never used. Goodness! 😛

The ANR remains a staple till today, but I mostly fell off the Estee Lauder bandwagon after a while. The last item I tried from the range was the Perfectionist serum. About 2 months ago, I found out that its gone through about 2 revamps since, and is now called Perfectionist [CP+R] Wrinkle Lifting/Firming Serum.

The young ‘uns among you will heave a sigh of relief at this point, I’m sure. Contrary to popular belief, I am not one for telling those below 30 that they “need” an anti-aging or lifting or firming serum or cream. In your 20s and even early 30s, I believe in proper basic maintenance skincare – keep skin hydrated and you will have fewer problems as you go. But as we age, there comes a time when just hydration alone doesn’t cut it and we need a little extra boost.

That’s when you need your serums and trust me, you’ll know when you do. Its also when you will derive the best benefit from any anti-aging serums you plan to use. This explains why although I used the Perfectionist CP serum back in the day (the original bottle was the tall slim opaque plastic one, if you remember – ugly as sin) I derived little to no benefit from it. It does however, give me a basis of comparison with this new formula 😉

“Red!” She said “And make it a Gloss d’Armani while you’re at it!”

August 29, 2012 Paris B 44 Comments

I don’t usually wear glosses but when I do, I tend to go for strong, pigmented colors. I guess I just can’t leave behind the notion that my lips and visage tend to look much better with some good colour on them, instead of just a clear shine 🙂 Earlier this week, I told you about the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense shadows. This wasn’t intentional, but we have another GA offering again today 🙂

gloss d'armani #400 red

This is the Gloss d’Armani – a pigmented lip gloss by Giorgio Armani and the colour you see here is #400 a strong, true red – was there any doubt that this would be the first colour I’d pick? 😉

Can I just say how much I like the packaging? The tube is a clear plastic at the bottom so the colour shows through, and the cap is black with the distinctive GA logo that sits just between the two halves so the logo overlaps the top and bottom of the tube. Little touches matter! Another thing I should mention is that despite this being a gloss and despite it being plastic, there is a nice heft to the product. It feels lovely and luxurious as befits the brand and image. So how does it perform?
