I honestly thought I’d only ever finish up anything or have any empties to share once every 2 months. It turns out that in recent times, I’m finishing up or tossing stuff as I go along so we actually have empties for July and now August!
This month’s empties have been a bit of a wallet buster and in the process I’ve also gotten rid of some mascara, one of which has served me well and the others of which I wasn’t terribly crazy about. Here’s a quick run down of them.
- Dior Capture Totale One Essential serum (review)- This is the 30ml bottle and nothing would pump out anymore. I’ve gone back to using it after a spell away and this is once again back as a staple. This serum is a pre-serum i.e. a serum you use before other serums and moisturisers, so it is actually an addition to my skincare. I like the effects so I’m sticking to this one.
- Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum (review) – There wasn’t much of this left so I just finished up the remainder so the bottle wouldn’t clutter up my space. Its not bad although the price is a bit of a deal breaker.
- Kose Seikisho Perfect Cleansing Oil – I am not crazy about this cleansing oil although it served its purpose. It cleaned my skin, it wasn’t too oily, it didn’t dry out my skin but there was nothing too memorable about it. I probably will not be repurchasing.
- Majolica Majorca Wing Neo mascara – the WORST mascara I have ever used. Full of floaty fibre that got into my eyes at every opportunity, did nothing for my lashes and was just awful. I only used it about twice since I got it and it was terrible all round.
- Shiseido Perfect Defining Volume Mascara (review) – I finally retired this mascara after a year’s service. It was still alright, still held a curl, gave my lashes volume and did not irritate my eyes. I just felt that 1 year was about time for it to retire and for me to open up a new one 🙂 Still my favourite mascara ever.
- Diorshow 360 Rotating mascara (review) – This got retired too, because it got very thick and was starting to dry out. It is otherwise still serviceable after about a year which is terribly impressive. The battery was still working, but I wasn’t too crazy about the formula. I’d stick to a non electronic mascara.
Did you manage any empties for August? Did you find yourself replenishing any faves?
August saw me retiring 2 faves which I’ve replenished – One Essential and Perfect Mascara. Sometimes, when it works, don’t change 😉

I like Maybelline Falsies mascara- the purple tube. It looks natural on me, not so thick. Wow i like it =)
Paris B says
I like that one too! Picked it as my Budget fave under RM50. Its impressive 🙂

Managed to get through some soaps and sample sized shampoos, and a bottle of sunscreen, but that’s about it. Need to make better progress!
Paris B says
Haha that’s pretty good, if you ask me. Sometimes, there’s no empties in a month (and that is when I need to make better progress 😉 )

Only empties for Aug are shower gel from Bodyshop. Skincare is taking forever to empty!
Paris B says
Good job on the shower gel! 🙂 Don’t wish for skincare to empty too quickly – replenishing is when your wallet will hurt 😛
Becca says
LOL I can’t think of a single empty for the month or August…or even July :/ Wait, maybe there is a bottle of shampoo and face wash for July. Oh, and body lotion! But as far as “fun stuff” goes (non staple items!), there’s nada 😛
I’m beginning to get curious about that Dior serum though–I know Lily likes it too and I read a good review somewhere else I just can’t remember where. When I first heard about it, I thought it sounded like a huge gimmick. A pre-serum serum that makes your other serums/creams more effective?!? Pfffsssh! But I can feel my will beginning to weaken…
Lily says
Get it! Get it! Lol 🙂
Paris B says
See, you did have some empties, Becca! 😉 I don’t ever finish anything makeup based except mascara this time which were due to be tossed. Otherwise, I think I’ll have them forever 😛 As for the Dior One Essential, I think it very good stuff. It was gimmicky to me too the first time I heard of it but it did work for me. Honestly, I don’t know if you need it (since you are but a babe 😛 ) but if you ever manage to snag a sample, give it a go. Otherwise, give it a couple of years when you might appreciate it more 🙂
Becca says
LOL! Ok, will do–thanks Paris! 😀

For mascara, I’m currently liking Diorshow New Look, Estee Lauder Double Wear Lengthening Mascara and Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes. All are not waterproof. The Diorshow and Lancome was given as samples. I really do not know which is the best so don’t ask me! Ha ha…
Paris B says
Sigh, loads of people love Diorshow New Look but I didn’t like it 🙁 Did nothing for my lashes at all! Ditto Lancome Doll Eyes LOL Only one I haven’t tried in your list is the EL one. I wonder if that’d work for me 🙂

I managed to finish a whole tube of MooGoo’s Udder Cream. It’s a good product for my hypersensitive skin. Also emptied a bottle of the Hada Labo Suncreen, which has become a staple of mine.
Paris B says
That MooGoo cream sounds udderly fab LOL! 😉 Good to know you like the Hada Labo sunscreen too – I like the texture of that one 🙂
Sukie says
Ah! I was going to give the Kose Perfect Cleansing Oil a go but since you said it wasn’t that great I’m going to give it a miss then! =p Like you, I find the Shiseido Perfect Defining Volume Mascara seems to be the only mascara that holds the curls and doesn’t irritate my eyes!
Paris B says
Heh I wasn’t terribly impressed. I think the Softymo does just as good a job at a much smaller price tag 😉 Love the Shiseido mascara! Had to replace 😛
Jyoan says
Is the Shisedo Perfect Mascara waterproof or smudgeproof on you?
I really like it so far, but I don’t really wear it as much as my waterproof mascaras because I eat too much chilli and always tear… I find that the mascara just get washed off by my tears. And I actually asked the SA for the waterproof version and bought that… T_T
Paris B says
Erm… I don’t experience smudging at all with the Shiseido mascara unlike some other mascara recently. I think it said waterproof on mine but I can’t recall coz its been tossed 😛
Marina(Makeup4all) says
Wow, so many mascaras you’ve got there. It looks like the same waits from me, too. Should stop opening a lot at the same time.
Paris B says
LOL yeah, I have loads of opened mascara and it was time for these to go 🙂 But you know how it is when you just have to try a mascara to see how it fares 😉
Julia says
LOL Lash Gorgeous Wing is my favourite mascara. Basically, I just want something that makes my lashes black without clumping them together, and for that purpose, it is perfect. Although I agree with the fiber problem, sometimes they fall into my eyes or onto my cheeks. :/
Paris B says
Wow Julia, you are about the first person I know to tell me that its a good mascara! LOL! Happy to know it actually works for someone and isn’t all round bad. The fibres really do need some work. They fly everywhere when I pull out the wand too and that really bugs me LOL!
Firn says
I prefer MM’s Lash Expander Frame Plus. If you run into the problem of getting too much fiber and not enough product, I just followed the instruction on the packet that recommended swirling the wand in the tube before withdrawing. It works a treat every time. 🙂
Paris B says
Thanks for the rec, Firn! I think that’s the one that most people like too 🙂 I can’t wear most of MM’s mascara so I have stopped trying them. They irritate my eyes. The only one I tried most recently was Lash King and that didn’t irritate my eyes unless I happen to accidentally get fibre in my eyes.
Ting says
The majolica Majorca one is HORRIBLE!! It smells HORRIBLE too. 🙁 worst ever mascara I’ve ever tried. Used once and thought “wow what’s wrOng with this?!”. Didn’t believe it so used second time and yup! Confirmed its just rubbish!!
Paris B says
Hmm I didn’t notice the smell but I totally feel you, Ting! It was HORRIBLE! 😛
casey23 says
Ohhh but I love(d) Kose’s cleanser :(((( Unfortunately can’t buy it again….
