Get perfect-looking eyeshadow in just 5 seconds! A step-by-step guide

September 2, 2015 Paris B 32 Comments

I know what you’re thinking right now as you read the headline above. 5 seconds?! Who are you kidding?! Is this going to be one of those posts that over-promise and under-deliver?

But what if I told you that it was indeed possible. You can apply and blend the perfect eyeshadow in 5 seconds or even less, and anyone can do it! Yes, even you, who are bemoaning the fact that you can never get eyeshadow to blend properly.

5 second eyeshadow tutorial

I stumbled on this method of applying eyeshadow one morning when I was a little pressed for time, and had a lightbulb moment. Why didn’t I think of this earlier?! I don’t know if it’s a known tip, but I hit on it quite by accident and after trying it out for a few days with great success, I knew I just had to share it with you! 😀

What you do need however, are cream eyeshadow sticks. Or maybe even cream eyeshadow. They’re easier to blend and you’ll understand why when you see my quick tutorial below. I don’t do tutorials often, so you can tell I’m really excited about this one. Enough to actually take step by step photos! LOL 😀

Beauty Scenario Vol. 1: You want your makeup to last the whole day. What do you use?

June 16, 2015 Paris B 28 Comments

Hi friends!

I’m kicking off this new series today, (I didn’t want to call it a series, but it’ll be a recurring topic so I think that’s what a series is right?) which I’ll call “Beauty Scenario”. What it basically is, is a post where I pose a beauty related scenario, whether based on my own experiences, or based on questions I get from all of you curious cats, and we all get to gather around and have a good ol’ jaw about what YOU would do in that scenario.

You might be wondering how this is different from the other discussive “Your Say” posts that I have from time to time. Well, those tend to run a gamut of anything that enters my head from tampons to nosy questions about whether you shower in the mornings;  but I thought we’d enjoy and benefit from something that’s a little more focused on beauty, since this IS supposed to be a “beauty blog” after all right? LOL!

makeup that lasts in heat

I invite you to pose your own beauty scenario (you can always email me at parisb@mywomenstuff.com if you don’t want to ask it publicly in the comments) and I’ll bring it up the next time around 🙂

To kick things off, here’s a topic we see arise quite often.

If you want your makeup to last all day or for a few hours without melting off, what are the products you would use?

This is a real concern in our sort of tropical heat and humidity and while it will naturally depend on the situation and our skin types, here are my picks and why I pick them! Please do share yours – we’ll all learn from each other here 🙂

A Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation with lightweight texture and high coverage by Laura Mercier

May 15, 2015 Paris B 20 Comments

The only reason I started wearing liquid foundation was because all these wonderful brands started releasing liquid foundations that were lightweight on skin without wearing like a mask. Yet, so often, lightweight is equated with sheer doesn’t it? Well, this one isn’t, and it’s one of my favourite new foundations (I’m working on a new compilation after my Top 8 fave foundations – Next 8 favourite maybe?) with 2 caveats.

laura mercier smooth flawless fluide foundation creme

This new foundation is the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation, which is such a mouthful I just call it the Fluide foundation. It was released early in 2015 and from online reports, seems very well received, and rightly so I feel 🙂

First off, the packaging is sleek and compact. If you ever want a foundation that you can take travelling with you or slip it into a slim makeup pouch, this would be it.

Quick Update and 5 Things I’m enjoying using while on a break

November 24, 2014 Paris B 55 Comments

Hi everyone

My apologies for dropping off the face of the earth or what seems like it for the past month. I’ve been told I don’t have to explain myself and I won’t because this break’s just something I’ve had to do. But I’ve received many heartwarming messages and emails (Thank you!) that’s made me feel pretty awful about not updating, or at least not delurking for a bit to say Hi and that I’m still alive and kicking and for the most part alright albeit feeling a little battered.

The thing is, I’m not ready to come back to blogging for various reasons, so this doesn’t mean we’re business as usual here at MWS, but I just wanted to stick my head out of the sand to say thank  you for your concern and well wishes and continued support. It means more to me than you realise 🙂

things i've been using

Since I have a post up anyway, I thought I’d quickly share some of the beauty stuff I’ve been using during this period. I’ve been maintaining a very simple routine while on a break and I like it! So here are the 5 things I like that I’ve been using a lot of and if you are the lazy sort (ok, not lazy, but minimalist perhaps? 😉 ) then you may like these too.
