Falling in love with the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil and granting it permanent residence on my dresser

April 19, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

I have a sneaky suspicion that I might have just found another skincare brand that can do me no wrong. Or at least, do me little wrong. (You already know the other one) Incidentally, it is another fairly niche natural skincare brand with organic ingredients. Might this be a new trend for me?

The odd thing also, is that this new skincare brand I’m currently a little more than enamoured with, also hails from the Southern Hemisphere. Hmm curiouser and curiouser!

The brand in question is Skin Creamery, which hails from South Africa. My first encounter with it was through the Everyday Cream that you can use on face and body, and it really impressed me. I still use it, although as a hand and body cream more than a face cream these days. That said, now and again, I use it for a basic moisturiser, and it’s all good.

The second thing I tried out was the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil. Ah, facial oils! I took a while getting around to this, but the moment I put it on my skin, I knew I was onto a winner and it’s now taken up permanent residence on my dresser! 😀

From New Zealand comes Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipstick – So healthy you can almost eat it

April 17, 2017 Paris B 13 Comments

When asked what my favourite skincare brands are, I often list Antipodes amongst the Top 3. I am unashamedly partial towards them, primarily because so many of their products work very well for me. But I’ve had a go at some of their makeup, in particular the Aroha natural lipstick, and like many mineral or natural makeup brands, there’s something about it that falls a little short.

So, I was a little surprised when the good folk at Antipodes contacted me out of the blue one day, and asked if I might be interested to have a go at the new Antipodes Moisture Boost Natural Lipstick. I believe this replaces their previous formula, because I can’t find the previous version anymore on their site.

Would I like to try it? Would I? Is the sky blue? Is Hobbiton in New Zealand?

It’s lipstick! I’m ALWAYS up to trying a new lipstick! 😀

Antipodes calls these their “Healthy Lipsticks” – a range of 12 shades ranging from neutrals to reds, made with natural and organic ingredients, and with strong, pigmented colour. They are called Moisture Boost Natural Lipsticks, because they are infused with oils (evening primrose oil, argan oil and avocado oil) that keep your lips soft and conditioned, even while you sport brilliant colour.

Well, I like my moisture and creamy lipsticks. Not one for the matte lips am I, so I took these for a spin, with rather high hopes.

Does 7 days with the Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster leave me glowing?

April 14, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

Some of you may know about my current “obsession” with Vitamin C serums ever since I finished my favourite Vitamin C serum. It was eye-wateringly expensive, but it worked so well for me. I’ve been toying with the idea of repurchasing, but at the same time, wanted to try something new.

So, when I stumbled across the Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% I did a double take. I hounded Clinique before its availability here in Malaysia because I was so bloody curious. You would be too, if I tell you that it comes in 1 week vials. Say what?

The thing is, Clinique came out with 2 different packaging for this, and I understood why the moment I saw the price. Oh yes, the full set was pretty eye-watering.

The Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Vitamin C 10% (let me just call it the Fresh Pressed Daily Booster) comes in a pack of 4, for use over 4 weeks. It also comes as a 1 week option, with 7 days worth of the complementary Fresh Pressed Renewing Powder Cleanser.

I was all ready to spring for the full 1 month version, but to be honest, couldn’t justify the price. Locally it retails at RM315 for the full size option (yes, I had to pick my jaw off the floor as well. It’s not a price I’m used to seeing at Clinique) so, although I was sceptical, I dug deep and sprung for the Fresh Pressed 7 Day System, to see what I could discern from it.

Swimming just got more enjoyable with the Underwater Audio Waterproof Swimbuds Earphones and Syryn MP3 Player

April 12, 2017 Paris B 13 Comments

Those of you on the MWS Companion newsletter list would have recently been asked to give me some motivation to get off my butt and move it, move it! I’m very bad at sticking to any form of exercise routine, simply because I get bored, or there’s always something else more interesting to do… that involves me sitting around on my butt.

But as I’ve also told you early in the year, I’ve taken up swimming again. The problem with swimming however (I can always find a problem, trust me) is that it gets boring doing laps. Unlike running or gym work, you can’t listen to anything while you swim. Or can you?

Introducing the Underwater Audio Waterproof Swimbuds Earphones and Syryn Waterproof MP3 player for use in the pool! I was offered by Underwater Audio to try these and see how I liked them, and truth be told, I leaped at the opportunity. Here was the answer to my pool boredom! Or so I hoped!
