What if I told you that there was a product that you could slather all over you, from head to toe. Literally. A product that softens and smoothens your hands, and at the same time, light enough to use on your face. Wouldn’t that be the perfect moisturiser for someone with time they couldn’t afford to waste or spend? Wouldn’t that be value for money?!
Incidentally, this product exists! Yes, it surprises me as much as it does you. I know what you’re thinking “How on earth can a moisturiser for the hands and body be suitable for the face?! You must be joking!”
Well, Skin Creamery isn’t. The Skin Creamery Everyday Cream promises to do just that – be the all-in-one moisturiser for face and body. I was as sceptical as they come, as you well know, so when I was presented with this by Skin Creamery’s local distributor Savanna Goodness, I confess, I couldn’t help a snicker of derision. Yet, I was curious enough to try it, and I’m glad I did! (You’ll be glad I did too coz now there’s a discount code for you 😛 )
Skin Creamery is a new brand of natural and organic skincare that hails from South Africa. I have to say that this is one of the few brands I’ve tried from South Africa. Yet the inclusion of Baobab Oil in the Everyday Cream should be a give away.
Baobab Oil is derived from the baobab tree, which grows in Africa and has numerous properties, amongst them moisturising, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut and Jojoba oil are well known for their antiaging and anti-bacterial properties.
Blended into this rather thick cream that comes in a pump bottle, the Skin Creamery Everyday Cream purports to effectively moisturise your skin, being heavy enough to penetrate and moisturise the thicker skin of the body, and yet light enough to be used on the face. So, I put it to the test. Not without a smidgen of trepidation, I assure you – I was deathly afraid I’d break out!
I must say that I love the sleek, minimalistic packaging. The Everyday Cream comes in a 200ml glass bottle with a pump that you can lock. This naturally makes it heavy, but because it’s fairly large (regular face creams are usually only 50ml) you just need to sit it on your dresser and pump the amount you need without moving it.
I’ve been using The Everyday Cream as a face moisturiser for a while now. For the face, I started out using it at night, because I was afraid it might feel a little heavy. On oily skin, or if you regularly use gel-based moisturisers, I think you may find it feels a little heavier than you like. If you are used to using oils on your face, or if you have drier skin, then you may not feel that way, because The Everyday Cream does sink in quite nicely into the skin without leaving a heavy, greasy feeling on top of the skin. I’m happy to report there were no breakouts! 😀
This is the amount I use for my face in the evenings. It’s just a little push of the pump, to dispense roughly a pea-sized amount. When I graduated to using it in the day, I use a little less so it doesn’t feel so heavy.
What I found is that although it has a slightly heavy feeling when it first goes on, it doesn’t leave a residue on the skin. That’s important for comfort, and if you aren’t used to using and leaving facial oils on your face. For normal-dry skin like mine, I felt that it was quite an effective skin moisturiser for both day and night. In the day, it sits well under makeup and sunscreen and doesn’t make my skin turn oily. I can’t say however, how it’ll fare on oilier skins since I don’t have it, but you could adjust the amount you use accordingly, I suppose.
It is quite a basic cream, in that it does little more than give skin the moisturising comfort it needs, and to seal in your serums and oils, but it performs that basic function quite admirably, and without fuss. If you are transitioning or want to adopt a green or natural/organic skincare routine, this is one of the better creams I’ve tried.
However, what I really liked was how soft and smooth I noticed my hands becoming. I’m so bad at using hand creams or body lotions, because I hate how they feel on my skin, but this Everyday Cream is changing my mind.
It’s so easy, because once I’ve applied my facial moisturiser, I can immediately pump a full pump out for my hands and arms, without having to reach for another product. For lazy folks like me, this ensures my body ages at the same rate as my face LOL! 😀
On the body, like the face, it sinks into the skin and does not leave any residue at all. It isn’t oily nor greasy, yet it does an amazing job at keeping my skin moisturised. I returned from Paris recently with hands that were battle-scarred, with horrible dry and broken, peeling skin; it was so bad that I was embarrassed to shake hands with any one. This was due to the dry air and harsh bath and hair products I was using there (Clarins may make good skincare, but their shower gel and shampoo were way too harsh for my skin!). But in the month since I’ve returned, my hands are now soft, smooth and well moisturised. It seems to treat my cuticles well as well, for I haven’t been experiencing dryness around my nails.
As much as I hate to say this, the Skin Creamery Everyday Cream is really an effective all-in-one, all-over cream! Being natural and organic as they claim to be, the cream has a rather strange, musky, herbal scent. I think it’s to do with the blend of ylang ylang and patchouli oils, which may or may not tickle your fancy. It isn’t too strong, but it’s there.
You know the other nice thing? It’s a nice 200ml size bottle. For a product you can use all over, I’d say it’s pretty decent value! I’m glad this was brought to my attention, and that I decided to take the plunge 🙂
IN A NUTSHELL
Skin Creamery is a natural and organic brand from Cape Town, South Africa with a small range of products of which The Everyday Cream is one of their star products. This is a cream in a luxurious glass pump bottle that you can use all over, from face to body to keep it moisturised. I found that it was light enough for use on the face and heavy enough for the thicker skin on the body. I just adjust the amount I use accordingly, and the included pump is very good for that purpose. For me, this is a decent basic moisturiser for face and will tick the boxes for those who prefer using natural or organic products. Better still, for lazy people like me who don’t care as much for their body as they do for their faces, this makes it easy and convenient to use on the body as well. I like this. It works 🙂
PROS: Feels light on face skin and absorbs quickly without an oily or greasy after-feel, Moisturising enough for use on body, Moisturising for hands and especially good for healing dry, cracked skin, A nice basic moisturiser for face, Does not make skin turn oily even when used in the day, Luxurious packaging with a very utilitarian pump that allows you to control the amount you need each time
CONS: Less portable due to glass packaing, Initially can be considered a little pricey but it’s good value, Musky scent may not appeal to everyone, Texture can feel heavy for those who prefer a lightweight gel moisturiser
WHO WILL LIKE THIS: Anyone who prefers using natural or organic skincare, Anyone who has limited time on their hands and who wants an all-in-one, head-to-toe moisturiser for face and body
PRICE: RM169 | R285 for 200ml
AVAILABILITY: Savanna Goodness for Malaysia & Singapore (Code PARISB30 gives you RM30 off the retail price. Valid until 25 Aug 2016) Skin Creamery (S. Africa where you can find other stockists)
For anyone interested to know what’s in there, here is the ingredient list for the Skin Creamery Everyday Cream.
Has anyone by chance tried this Everyday Cream or come across anything similar?
I don’t know if any of you hail from South Africa (if you do, please holler!) but if you do, you should be able to get this in your home country. While I cannot commit to using this one in perpetuity on my face (skincare junkies have a roving eye 😛 ) I would love to keep it for use on my body because I just love how my picky hands love it. And I don’t want to be embarrassed to shake hands with people again 😛

Seems like an interesting product.
Paris B says
It was! It was the only reason I agreed to try it. Glad it worked for me!

Wonder whether is it an alternative for Sisley eco emulsion. I tried the sample n kinda like it. But the price too expensive.
Paris B says
Ah I’ve never tried the sisley one and it’s hard to get samples of this one but I think it’s a decent product and by comparison much cheaper 😉
Gerrine says
As a face moisturizer yes but for body is expensive. Haha
Paris B says
I suppose something has to give! Lol! So use it all over 😉 Beats Sisley flat though! Hehe…
Gerrine says
Haha, Sisley 1 will only use on face.

Ooh, I would like to have this as my hand cream and body lotion. Just One question : is there any slippery feeling, that the lotion wasn’t absorbed but just sits on the skin kinda feeling when you wash- up the next day ? Some lotions dries up after application but when I shower the next morning, I can feel that I’m washing the lotion away, and afterwards my skin is dry again.
Paris B says
Nope! No slippery feeling at all. For my hands, I can sometimes feel like it takes a while to absorb but then I use it before bed so I’m not fussed. It’s definitely not like a lot of slippery hand and body lotions out there. This feels like a face cream if you know what I mean? I was impressed at how it helped my hands without my realising it. And when you’re feeling a bit lazy you can just use it for face too hehe… It tickles me everytime!

This is intriguing! And I understand your fear of breaking out. LOL!
Another one on my to try list 🙂
Paris B says
Especially when it’s a cream you can use on the body! My first thought was how thick it would be. Happily, it worked well enough. Too afraid to mess around too much these days LOL!

After reading your review, I was so pumped to try this. I quickly signed up for an account, but till this morning, they still have not verified it. Ugggh! Poor service.

Correction. I couldn’t log in with my email address, but apparently, I can with facebook. I stand corrected. Placed my order already.
Kelly says
Hi Cecilia, thank you for your feedback and correction. We have received your order and it’s being processed. Have a lovely day ahead!
Siti Mariam says
Hi Kelly,
Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil can work as a moisturizer by itself or still need to top up with a cream/gel type mositurizer?
Kelly says
Hi Siti Mariam, Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating oil penetrates the deeper layers of the skin, they plump up skin cells and prevent water loss, thus having a hydrating effect on the surface of the skin.
The oil can be used as an alternative to a moisturising cream for people with an oilier skin. For drier skin, the oil can be used in conjunction with the cream and can be applied after cleansing and before the cream.
Paris B says
Sorry to hear of your hiccup Cecilia, but hoping it works for you as well as it did for me!
Siti Mariam says

Cecilia Wong says
Hi, Kelly! If it’s not too late, can you include a sample of the facial oil with my order? I’m running low on my morning facial oil, so I’m looking for new options. Thanks.
Kelly says
Hello Cecilia, unfortunately I do not have sample of oil at the moment. However, I have included an Everyday Cream sachet for you. Good for traveling use.

Ooh I didn’t know the discount was applied store wide! I’ve been curious about that facial oil too and the face washing powder thing 😀 Interesting products from an interesting brand 🙂
