Delving into the cult skincare classic that is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir

December 26, 2013 Paris B 26 Comments

Ah you know, with all the feasting and late nights that is wont to happen at the end of every year when people celebrate the close of yet another year, something that promises a glowing, smoothing complexion just grabs you by the lapels doesn’t it? It says “Buy Me!”

I’d heard so much about the Caudalie Beauty Elixir way before I’d even tried anything else from the brand. It is also supposed to be one of their top bestsellers and highly raved by celebrities and beauty bloggers alike. But it was only not too long ago that I eventually picked up a bottle to see what the hype was about.

caudalie beauty elixir

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir is a face mist that contains a cocktail of other ingredients, that you mist on your face at any time you like, whether to mist your face before moisturiser or to freshen up. Based on the many many reviews I’ve read, misted over makeup, it’s supposed to give a glow to the skin. Used on it’s own, it’s supposed to smell wonderful, refresh and give skin an amazing glow.

Hmm… I therefore had to pinch myself when I didn’t get the stellar results promised. Are you a fan of this product?

Merry Christmas and wishing you fun, fashionable and fruity festivities

christmas laura mercier luxe brush travel set

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope that everyone who is celebrating this festive season is having a wonderful time with your family and friends and for those who aren’t celebrating, I hope you’ve enjoyed all the wonderful shopping deals and treats that abound, and the holiday of course! 😀

I got my blog a present last year with a makeover but I think it looks good enough to stick through this year so I’ve stopped tinkering with it… for now 🙂 This year, I had a hankering for fruit cake – I love fruit cake! I know some people don’t, but I am a fiend for fruit cake and I was very thrilled to receive a yummilicious home made fruit cake from a dear dear friend who knew I was looking for it (maybe because I’m fruity like one LOL!)! Another surprise gift was a fun beauty and fashion accessory – the Laura Mercier Luxe Travel Brush Set!

Tip: Make your own cream highlighter or illuminating cream and save money!

December 24, 2013 Paris B 30 Comments

’tis the season to be sparkly… fa la la la la la la la la … 😀

You know, how often have you wanted to apply a highlighting or illuminating product, but are loathe to buy a whole tube or bottle or tub or pot, just for that one special occasion? Then, you realise you either don’t like it, or the one special occasion passes and you never use it again. Not many of us do the whole contour and highlight thing day in and day out. Well, unless you’re a celebrity or work at a makeup counter or just have your face out there all the time. I can tell you I most certainly don’t!

So, instead of wasting your money on huge tub, tube, pot or bottle of liquid or cream highlighter, or if you are just experimenting, here’s a very handy dandy tip I learned from Dior International Makeup Artist Junior Cedeno back in Summer 2013, to make your own highlighter! He taught me another handy dandy tip for foundation application that I shared too which is brilliant!

diy cream highlighter

Junior taught me using the Diorsnow BB Creme (which I love!) but I’m going to show you that you can also use it with other BB Creams or concealer or even liquid foundation.

What you need is a liquid foundation, concealer or BB Cream and a golden shimmer product like a golden eyeshadow, be it cream or powder. Now, let the magic happen! 😀

Your Say: Your Favourite NON-Beauty Item of 2013

December 23, 2013 Paris B 60 Comments

Here’s one of my fave posts of the year. The one where I get to snoop into your non-beauty lives 😀 I have been asking this question for quite a few years now and it’s always interesting to move outside the scope of beauty for a while, and see what else gave you as much pleasure this year 😀

favourite non beauty item

We are so inundated with beauty on the blog all through the year (naturally, since it is after all supposed to be a beauty blog 😛 ) but I’m sure many of you have interests outside of beauty and I’m quite sure you bought or used or were given something non-beauty this year that you particularly enjoyed.

What is it? Naturally, I’ll share mine 😀
