Archives for June 2013

Don’t let change leave you behind! Google Reader retires in July, here are alternatives and oh look… food!

google reader dead

Hello everyone!

Here’s a quick blog housekeeping notice. If you have been using Google Reader as your RSS or Feed Reader of choice then you may be aware that GReader is shutting down on 1 July 2013. That’s just about a week away.

So, I know many of you may be aware of this but may have overlooked the deadline. I didn’t want you to get left behind when July 1st rolls around and you stop getting MWS updates! So just very quickly, here are some options you have that I’ve tried and what I think of them. If this isn’t something that concerns you, there’s some food at the end of it haha! 😛

Spa Visit: Banyan Tree Spa at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore – Wonderful for body and soul, hard on the wallet

June 21, 2013 Paris B 24 Comments

banyan tree spa marina bay sands singapore

I’d been doing a bit of travel back and forth in recent weeks and haven’t had a weekend to myself in what seems like ages! I need a break. A proper one with no telephone line and no internet 😛 But since that isn’t happening any time soon, the next best thing is to book myself in and splurge on a luxury spa experience 😀

While at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore not too long ago, I saw they had a Banyan Tree Spa at Level 55 of the hotel. Views over the city state are lovely and I have one for you below pre-haze 🙂 Some quick enquiries turned up a free slot just after lunch. Its incredibly busy so I do recommend making reservations ahead, if you want to go there. Walk in customers like me either have to be incredibly lucky or be turned away. It was pricey, lets make no mistake. but I thought heck! If I’m going to work hard, I might as well play hard! *gulp*

Second time investigating the ap-peel of the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

June 20, 2013 Paris B 37 Comments

ren glycolactic mask

I’m about halfway through this 2nd bottle of the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask and you know what? I still can’t quite make up my mind about it! So, rather than procrastinate further, I hoped that by writing about it, I’d figure out how I feel once I hit the conclusion 😛

REN Skincare (rhymes with ‘ran’), some of you may be familiar with already. If you aren’t, its a range of skincare that hails from the UK and means ‘Clean’ in Scandinavian. Some of you may have also seen the REN video used to define how clean was clean (Be warned not to watch it at work or in front of parents and kiddies! 😉 ) REN is formulated without a lot of harmful things like petrochemicals and parabens etc and they use bioactives from botanicals where possible.

The Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is one of their star products and gets tons of raves and wins loads of beauty awards. I have been told that it operates like a skin peel, without the side effects of chemical peels like sensitive skin or redness but gives skin an almost instant radiant and brighter appearance. This is where I start feeling a little nonplussed.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Sheer Rush Gloss delivers plumped up lips with a jelly shine

June 19, 2013 Paris B 49 Comments

estee lauder cello shots sheer rush gloss

Have you ever looked at a product, write it off in your head for being just another lipgloss/lipstick/{insert makeup product} but give it a try anyway; and like pop rocks popping in your mouth, like a shot of caffeine to the system, your eyes open wide and the angels start to sing?

No?

I have to lay off the caffeine 🙂

But this is how I felt when I tried these new (and limited edition) Estee Lauder Pure Color Sheer Rush lipglosses. I’m not a lipgloss girl at the best of times but you know, when everyone is going “Ooh its summer! Sheer colour is in!” and when I have to shield my eyes against the scorching sun rays every time I step out of a building, suddenly I’ve been globbing on lipgloss like I was born to do it. I was really keen on these Pure Color Sheer Rush glosses because… look at the colour in tube! They look so bright and intense and … BRIGHT!

Guess what? They aren’t. They are sheer glosses. The name is a dead giveaway. These glosses are part of the Cello Shots capsule makeup collection which also feature a sheer liquid blush and a lipstick. I wasn’t sure how to group them at first but when I slicked on the lipgloss, I knew I had to tell you about the lipglosses first, because I love them.
