Pucker Up for the Lunasol Full Glamour Liquid Lips in No. 07 Sugar Pink

November 30, 2011 Paris B 52 Comments

Most of you ladies who visit regularly will know of my love for bright or red lip colours and my failure to find a nude lip colour that does not wash me out, or one that I might like without making me look like a corpse. When I first set eyes on the Lunasol Full Glamour Liquid Lips in #07 Sugar Pink I thought “Oh no! I’m going to look dead!”

lunasol liquid lip

See what I mean? In the tube it is a very very pale peach pink that is almost a nude colour. It is a color I will never voluntarily pick up myself but sometimes, its good to step outside your comfort zone. Sometimes, that might enable you to try and find something you may never have thought of trying. So it is with a little hesitation that I say that I do like this lip shade. Very much.

This Full Glamour Liquid Lips is a gloss-lipstick hydrid. The texture is thicker and more pigmented than that of a gloss but it isn’t tacky, sticky or goopy <- yes that’s a technical term 😛 When applied to my lips, it offers nice opaque colour with just 1 swipe of the wand, and there is no scent or taste.

lunasol liquid lips applicator

It applies using your regular sponge foot applicator and longevity is better than that of a lipgloss so that makes it more like a lipstick. Despite the thicker texture, it feels very light on the lips and isn’t drying. It, in fact, gives lips a lovely shine and seems to plump it up a little. I do like Lunasol products a lot and this is going to number among my favourites.

Colour wise, No. 07 Sugar Pink is anything but. It is, to my eyes, a peach pink with no shimmer or gloss factor but which applies with a slightly warmed peach-pink tone that is my lips but better. For some reason, this shade adds colour to my skin so I can wear this without looking like the walking dead.

I like pairing this one with strong eyes and cheeks because it is a very neutral colour but one which I can safely say will appeal to many because it isn’t scary, it has a lovely texture and the colour has a way of adding colour to your face without screaming “Look at my lips!!”

Here is an example of how I wore Sugar Pink recently.

Also featuring: Bourjois Healthy Mix liquid foundation #51, Guerlain Meteorites Teint Rose, Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette (Ace, Blackout and Midnight 15), Cheeks: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Blush in Pink Coral

I think it gives off a very polished vibe, being at one able to plump up your lips without being too glossy or shimmery. For me I wear this till lunch time and then wipe it off and start over, because that’s how I roll. So that’s about 4 hours of wear with coffee and water. There is of course fading but nothing so dramatic due to the light shade.

In a nutshell

A pricey liquid lip colour that has a very lovely lightweight texture with no scent or taste. It is semi pigmented and applies quite opaque and gives off a polished finish without looking too glossy or shiny. No. 07 Sugar Pink is a light peach-pink lip shade that is neutral and goes very well with strong eye and cheek makeup. It adds warmth to the skin and is one colour that does not make me look like the walking dead. Colors are a little limited as is quite typical of a Japanese brand. I would tell you to run out and pick one up immediately if not for the price.

Pros: Lightweight texture despite the pigment, Does not dry out lips, Makes lips look plump and pouty without high gloss or shimmer, Compact practical packaging

Cons: Pricey, Small amount in a tube, Colours are not very varied

I don’t know how it happened but the duck face picture previously got a lot of you very excited! It told me I should make funny faces more. So here I am, taking the mickey out of yet another popular pose – the duck face posing with lip gloss pose 😛

fotd

This made me think of Sebastian – the crab/lobster/crayfish in Disney’s The Little Mermaid – “You have to pucker up like this!” on giving advise to Ariel 😛

If anything you can see that the colour on lips is close to the colour in the tube 🙂 But otherwise, no, don’t expect to see more of this look appearing in future either LOL! 😀

Has anyone else tried the Lunasol Full Glamour Liquid Lips? Do you have a color you like? I am somehow drawn to the more neutral shades in this line because I thought the brighter shades looked a bit garish. I almost picked up another recently but went instead for the Full Glamour Lips G – Will tell you about that soon. Hopefully 🙂

Lunasol Full Glamour Liquid Lips comes in 10 different shades and retails at RM104 each at all Kanebo counters and salons. Yes I know. Ouch.

Maybe to the Japanese “pink” isn’t what we consider “pink” but this pale nude shade that matches lips? 🙂 Thanks Plue

The pucker picture? Sexy! In fact it looks like a model for the lipgloss to me 😛

I personally prefer nude-/pinkish-coloured lipglosses or lipsticks 😀 At least they don’t make me look washed out and give an overall more polished look IMO, and since I also tend to play up my eyes more 🙂 This is a pretty one, I should check it out when I’m back in West Malaysia!

It’s so weird not seeing you in a bold/bright/red lippie haha!

Thank you Stephanie and I’m still feeling my way around light or nudish coloured lips. So far its been hit or drastic miss and I do the best in the Japanese brands who seem to understand a neutral lip very well 🙂 Do check it out – I think its worth every sen 😀

Sexay! But it looks more nude beige on you than pink, which is a good thing coz you’re rocking that color. Not happy with the price though coz I”m convinced there’s a similiar shade out there that’s more affordable 🙂

LOL But you know what? You could very well wear this colour better because it will show up on your lips just as it does in the tube! Which is a very pretty colour I might add 😉 Thanks for the vote of confidence re: nude lips 😀
