Archives for April 2011

The 30 Day Lipstick Project will start in May 2011!

April 30, 2011 Paris B 14 Comments

Happy Saturday Ladies! 😀

A couple of weeks back, I asked if you might like a 30 day lipstick or blush series and the majority vote went to lipsticks. I decided to loosen the criteria so I will feature lipsticks and glosses because too much of one thing can be so boring!

Also, it may not run for 30 days straight because again, it gets boring for regulars. So I’ll break it up but I’ll have all the necessary link-ups so you can cross refer back and forth and God-willing (and if I have the energy) I’ll do a final round up at the end of everything. Fun yes? 😀

For those who voted blushes, don’t worry. I’ll have blushes feature from time to time too. I have so many I have been wanting to tell you about but haven’t so this is a nice push for me to 😀

Here, take a peek at a couple of lipsticks I have lined up for this little project.

Pulsating Perfection in the Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara

April 29, 2011 Paris B 32 Comments

Alright then, hands up whoever’s been reading MWS long enough to remember that I first told you about the existence of the Maybelline Pulse mascara way back in May 2009? Anyone? 😉 I mentioned there that it was not being brought into Malaysia at that time, and that it retailed for US$15 in the USA. My projected price was RM60 which you know, isn’t too far off the mark and yes, its here in Malaysia for a limited time I believe at RM59.90 😀

Anyway, at that time, I did say “Oh darn! Not another vibrating mascara!” and I will say it again “Not ANOTHER vibrating mascara!” This one, being from Maybelline and therefore under the L’Oreal group, I was not surprised to note that it operated on the same principle as the Lancome Oscillation mascara – the vibrating wand is activated by way of a button that you press so it is vibration on demand. Much better than anything that starts going the minute you open the tube, trust me on this.

Before you use it however, take note that you have to pull off the tab at the top, which removes a plastic bit and allows  the battery power to run through the cap. Bit of elementary physics there 😉

Sometimes, one does have to pay a little bit of attention to details 😉 But all this swankiness aside from Maybelline, do I like this little buzzing wonder? Would it surprise you to know I do? 😀

Repairing and Whitening At Night : Clarins White Plus HP Repairing Whitening Night Cream

April 28, 2011 Paris B 9 Comments

In the past month or so, I’d been on a bit of a skin brightening binge. I had a touch of sun before that and I wanted to get my skintone evened out again. I’d told you what I’d been using in the day (Laneige White Plus Renew Daily Protection Cream) and here’s what I was using at night. They are both from different brands, but the functions are the same i.e. whitening/brightening so the ultimate aim would also be the same.

I must tell you that I’d tried a sample of the Clarins White Plus HP night cream from last year and I did not like that one. I actually found that terribly drying on my skin. Most whitening products do tend to be drying, if you notice. But that one hit it out of the ballpark. This new formulation however, isn’t. Thank goodness!

This year, Clarins not only formulated their White Plus HP Night Cream with Sea Lily Extract, they included Daisy extract to control and slow down the production of melanin at night and to combat the stresses and UV effects of the day. I’ll just quickly tell you how it went for me.

Protect and Whiten in the Day: Laneige White Plus Renew Daily Protection Cream SPF36 PA++

April 28, 2011 Paris B 7 Comments

I don’t usually use whitening products but once or twice in a year I do, especially when I’ve had a touch of sun or when I feel my skintone is looking too uneven for its own good. Usually its the former reason. This year, my whitening regime consists of a day cream and a night cream, but both from different brands. In the night, I’m using the Clarins White Plus HP Night Cream (review to come later today) and in the day, I’m using this one – Laneige White Plus Renew Daily Protection Cream SPF36 PA++

I’m not too familiar with Laneige as a brand, and my previous trials of Laneige products didn’t quite wow me. I’m not all WOW now either, but I must say I quite like this particular cream. For those of you who aren’t into using sunscreen, this would be a winner in your books because of the high sunscreen protection included 🙂
