Guerlain Meteorites Perles Loose Pearls Illuminating Powder Teint Rose – Love the new packaging dahling!

June 9, 2010 Paris B 66 Comments

I didn’t shop much while in Singapore. Well, “not much” being relative but while at Changi airport, to take my mind off certain other things I was eyeing, I splurged on the new Guerlain Meteorites Perles in Teint Rose .

New Guerlain Meteorites Rose Teint

All I needed to know at the counter was “Is this the new packaging?” and once the SA said yes, I was off like a shot to the counter. At S$71 its not cheap but it was a tiny bit cheaper than the retail price of RM185 in Malaysia.

I opened it yesterday and to my surprise (and delight) the new tub is metal! Not metal covered cardboard (as they did before) but a nice light thin embossed metal case. None of that baroque looking gold edged cardboard thankyewverymuch! This is a sleek embossed brushed metal tin with plastic tub insert.

The cover is now literally like that of a flat tin cover instead of the high cardboard cap. I don’t know why but I have visions of Milo every time I open the cover 😛

Guerlain Meteorites Rose Teint

Teint Rose is pretty much Mythic renamed. It all looks the same – little balls of lilac, gold, rose and blue tones to be swirled together to give you that luminous glow. The same luminous glow that Mythic gives me.

Except in prettier sleeker more modern packaging.

Love!

I somehow thought that the Teint Rose pearls looked a little lighter compared to my old Mythic Meteorites. Placed side by side, I got the same feeling too. The colour of the Mythic balls seemed a little deeper than Rose Teint.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles: Mythic vs Teint Rose

But when I placed the balls side by side, there is no discernible difference. My guess is that the Mythic Meteorites I own are already quite old so perhaps the sheen that covers the balls are now lost. Or perhaps there is a difference in the formula which makes it look that way. After all, the new Meteorites are supposed to have an improved formula.

On the skin, there is no difference. Or perhaps there is. Teint Rose seems to diffuse the light better so faking flawless glowy skin is even easier than before!

If you already have the previous Meteorites perles, you don’t have to get this one in the same colours – for me, Mythic and Teint Rose are one and the same. But if you don’t already own Meteorites and want to cut your teeth on these little magical powder balls, I think you’ll love the new packaging too! 😀

My love for the Guerlain Meteorites know no bounds 🙂 Here are some previous posts on some other ones I own.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Loose Pearls Illuminating powder pearls retail at Guerlain counters for RM185 and come in 3 shades. Guerlain counters in Malaysia are at Parkson KLCC, Parkson Pavilion, Sogo, Isetan The Gardens, Tangs Pavilion

i have been lemming for this for a while.. and have told myself not to get it since it’s not a must-have item and the benefits are not obvious. and now i see this post! oh nooo…! it reignited my fire for these perles again!

my hubby will surely think i’m crazy to spend so much money on these small little balls.

Tell hubby it’ll last you forever and that you’ll use it everyday. Once you do the effects without are obvious enough that you’ll consider this a must have! 😉

yup! Its in the brown box on the right or in the “About” page 🙂 But you can get me at parisb(at)mywomenstuff(dot)com.

Guerlain is rather expensive here but I expect it, being a luxury brand. I don’t know how it compares elsewhere in the world. The eye palette will retail for RM200+

Hi Paris. The loose pearls in Teint Rose is it no 01 or 02? I tried earlier at the counter with bare faced (no makeup at all, only applied skincare) it doesn’t seem to show any glowing effect. Maybe it will look better if it’s on top of foundation&pressed powder?(Or compact foundation?) And I think the compact pearls shows a slight glow(on my bare face). But I would like to get the loose pearls as the packaging is nicer and its different compared to the boring compact :p sorry for the long comment! :p

Mine is 01. I think I might be overstating the “glow” here – it works for me on bare skin too. Do not expect to see anything dramatic. In fact, its almost unnoticable if you are really looking for something to see. Its very very subtle which is why I like it. For some people they might prefer something more “obvious”. My test is when I use it and people tell me me skin is looking good (when I know it isn’t) that’s when I know it works. As with everything though, what works for me might not work for everyone!

quick question – did you get this at the duty free at the airport? wondering if it would be cheaper to ask my sister to get it for me when she flies next month!

Yes I got mine at Changi airport. I’m not sure how much it costs in the city.

I had Mythic long time ago, but ‘blog-saled’ it, because it gives me a pinkish finish, which enhanced the pink undertone of my skin.

Then I got my hands on 03 Beige Chic which I like a lot. The beige/brown pearls evens out the pinkness very nicely. I have been wanting the new version Teint Beige ever since they came out. I think I’m going to pick it up soon, because you said the formula got improved. And yes, the new packaging is also tempting me a lot, haha… 🙂

What brush would you recommend for this? Been using a face brush but it isn’t picking up as much as i would it too…

Guerlain does a brush I believe for their Meteorites, or it might have been limited edition. I used to use a dense fluffy face brush (I used one by Sonia Kashuk) but these days, I use the Trish McEvoy Bronzer Brush #37 which is dense yet fluffy and soft yet picks up enough product. I’ll try to blog about it soon.

Lovely product. I’ve been thinking about buying one of these for myself, but I have very oily skin. Will this increase the “disco-ball” look, or will it control the amount of oil that my skin already makes?

    Thanks

It may add some shine, and it doesn’t offer oil control. If you use a powder to set first, then use this it might help 🙂
