Clinique SuperFit and SuperBalance foundations sampled!

September 24, 2009 Paris B 13 Comments

Ok so I’ve sampled both the um… samples of the Clinique liquid foundations I picked up during the promotional period and I must say that my initial instincts were correct. My skin much preferred the SuperFit foundation over SuperBalance foundation despite everything the SA told me.

Clinique SuperBalance liquid foundation made me oily

I was told that the Superbalance foundation was this “magical” foundation that would provide moisture where I had dry skin and not where I was oily and so it was perfect for combination skin. That’s the theory.

In practice, what happened was an oil slick. By midday I was mopping up enough oil from my face to fuel my car… if it ran on face oil that is 😛 And I’m NOT oily skinned! Quite horrifying. Even after setting with loose powder, I was still an oil slick by noon so after 2 attempts I gave up on Superbalance foundation. Superfit was way a better “fit” for my skin.

Clinique SuperFit liquid foundation is oil free

The SuperFit liquid foundation is oil free. So, it is light on the skin and did not turn me into the oilfields of the Middle East by midday. You could say my acne scars are the scars of warfare 😛

If I were to choose a liquid foundation from Clinique, I’d pick it up in Superfit.

Also, the colour match in SuperFit was better so it blends right into my skin and did not oxidise. The coverage is a little thin though but as you know by now, that does not bug me. It evens out skin tone nicely where it matters and that’s it.

However, if you have very dry skin then you might find this foundation a little drying.

Although the samples looked a little paltry, they did last quite a few uses and definitely more than 1 week. I’m still using the samples now and will do so until they dry out.

I’m not in love with these foundations though. Oil free or not, the foundation feels a little heavy on my skin. I’m used to the lightweight feel of the Lancome Maquiliquide foundation and the Diorskin Nude Hydrating liquid foundation so I felt the “weight” of these Clinique foundations.

Did you pick up your Clinique sample foundations and are you liking the ones you got? Do share! 😀

Stay beautiful

hey, you got nicer sample containers! mine came in one of those “eyecream medicine” white screw-tops you normally get from the doc.

superfit works better for me too…no surprise considering my oil slick skin. 🙂

I just went to Clinique 2 days ago to get my custom fit 3-step skincare. For the pass one month, I start working in an office + still going to night classes. The constant air-con, caffeine, lack of sleep, and stress ruined my skin. My usual oily skin become dry-combi. My skin is peeling all over my face! I try using my usual Body Shop aloe vera moisturizer but ended up with bad break outs.

The SA that I got was really professional! She helped me pick what most comfortable instead of shoving gazillion products to my face. I ended up with a 6-gift set and 3 free samples. She also recommend against buying too much product at one time and instead focus on the skin problem one-by-one, how many SA actually do that? Another plus, after 2 days of using 3-step the peeling on my face has stopped! 😀

She recommended Superfit for me, and helped applied it.
Texture wise I love the more watery texture of Superfit compared to other liquid foundation. It’s very easy to apply and blend nicely, and doesn’t look thick or cakey. Coverage is medium. Like you said it evened out my skin tone, doesn’t oxidize and doesn’t leave me slick with oil.

Unfortunately, like many liquid foundation, Superfit doesn’t cover my gigantic pores. So, I try the famous Clinique blended face powder in ‘invisible blend’, and oh my lovelies, my skin looks so smooth after just a sweep of the loose powder!

I’m hooked. I’ll definitely purchase the loose powder & maybe the Superfit too after I finished my current foundation. 😀

I’ve tried the Clinique foundations, but I find them to be very heavy. I much prefer the Diorskin Nude!

    There are times when SAs seem to push you to buy something that you kinda know wouldn’t work on your own skin and that can get a little annoying. Who better to know your face than yourself? I don’t know which it is: over-confidence in their products or meeting sales targets. But then again there are those few out there who genuinely listen to you when you have told them about what works and what doesn’t before suggesting a product. I’m reminded of this Auntie at a Shiseido counter. I told her I had oily skin, she still stuck me with a maquillage all over shimmer-based face powder. Needless to say I looked like a christmas tree the whole day ^^;;

    Hi ,

I also got a SuperFit sample recently after following your blog. Been using it for a couple of days and have been quite amazed by the results. I had oily skin but after putting on this foundation , I don’t see my face producing more oil.
It felt light , not cakey and natural which I prefer when wearing it to work.
It really lives up to the name “SuperFit” !! I am now tempted to get Clinique loose powder too 🙂

I got the supermoisture foundation, i found that its quite good for my dry skin and even out the redness on my skin, However, I still think its a tad 2 thick 4 my liking. But i’m tempted to get the loose powder the SA tried on me, she warm the loose powder on her hands and apply it by her hands, she says using sponge and brush is not suitable 4 my dry skin because it might result in too much powder being applied…. hmm…. i wonder other loose powder works that way 2?
