Handy hand and nail treatments with Biotherm Age Delaying Hand Treatment and Melvita Argan Oil Roll On

May 26, 2013 Paris B 25 Comments

biotherm hand cream melvita cuticle oil

Apologies if you inadvertently saw an approximation of this post in your email/reader etc. It wasn’t ready for publishing till now 🙂

I’ve run out of my favourite hand cream. It was a tragedy because I’ve been around the block and come to the conclusion that most if not all hand cream is just too greasy for me, despite every claim of being non greasy or oily. Before I ran out to buy a new one however, I remembered that I had one from Biotherm.

The Biotherm Biomains Age-Delaying Hand & Nail Treatment sounds a lot like the one from Clarins and it also came well liked by my Canadian buddy Tracy. Hey, anything that works in the harsh Canadian winters must be a winner! I was quite excited about this one 🙂

The other thing that I thought I’d tell you about is the Melvita Argan Oil Roll on Cuticle treatment. Yes, a roll on. Have you tried either one before?

Packing skincare for a cold Spring/Winter climate when you come from the tropics

May 16, 2013 Paris B 34 Comments

cold weather holiday skincare

When I recently went away on vacation, it was to a country in the Northern Hemisphere which had just broken through a particularly long winter, and Spring was just in the air. That wasn’t quite what the weather report for Prague told me when I checked before I left. I had reports of weather in the teens and wide ranges of temperature of 25° – 6°C … in one day! I wasn’t upset – no sirree! It meant I could drag out my boots and tights and coats! Whee! 😀

But as I packed my cosmetic pouch, I knew I had to make a bit of allowance for this sort of temperatures and weather. Coming from the tropics, I’m used to  warm and importantly, humid weather for most of the day, everyday. Light textured products like gels or gel creams are preferable for comfort. But from experience, I knew that weather in Europe was not only colder, it was also drier and creams generally work better there.

So when I packed my pouch, I made sure I bore this in mind. I thought I’d share what I packed, because I’ve had people ask me before this what they should pack for a holiday to a colder climate, and also because I know many of you will travel at some point and may wonder if you should compensate for your skincare or if you can carry your own 🙂

Face Oils: 3 of the best that failed to impress

February 7, 2013 Paris B 44 Comments

trilogy rosehip antioxidant oil, melvita rosehip oil, botani olive oil serum

It always seems like I’m rah-rah-rah-ing about one thing or another aren’t I? Fact is, its always a heck more fun telling friends about things I like, as opposed to telling them about things I don’t. Fact is also, there is a lot I don’t like haha! 😀 But its the stars that stand out in your mind. After all, when I ask a friend for a recommendation, I don’t ask them what they didn’t like, I ask them what they like 😉

Since I’d mentioned 2 face oils from Antipodes and Clarins that worked quite well for me, I thought however, that I’d share with you some of the ones that got away, as it were. It so happens that one of them is very popular and gets loads of raves. Just so happened that my skin didn’t quite like it as much as others had.

If it says Extraordinary Water, I expect it to be really Extraordinary, Melvita!

August 2, 2012 Paris B 37 Comments

To be honest, I have no idea what is so extraordinary about the Melvita Extraordinary Water. I’ve been using this one off and on for months, trying to get a grip on it and the long and short of it is, I have no idea what it is. Is it a toner? A lotion? A hydrator? A serum? A …what?

melvita extraordinary water narcissus and rose

I was told that this Extraordinary Water is one of Melvita’s popular products. Let me be honest. I have no idea why. To me it does nothing extraordinary and I don’t get any benefits from it at all. I guess this concludes my review LOL! 😛

Ok ok, let me just gab on a little longer. It galls me that I said everything I wanted to say in 100 words. It also means that I generally write too much and that you, the reader, has to plod through 1000 words on average. Sorry 😛 So this is what it feels like to read a short review huh? 😛 Let’s take a more in depth look at this product then.
