New: Clinique SAYLI Counter, MAC Quite Cute Launch, Kiehl’s x Pharrell Williams Eco-Tote, Garnier Mineral Deodorant, Vichy Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care

April 23, 2011 Paris B 23 Comments

Happy Saturday Ladies!

This is the Easter weekend so to everyone celebrating, I wish you all Happy Easter! 😀

Here’s some quick bite-sized news on whats new in town and on the shelves.

Clinique SAYLI Counter at MidValley Megamall

clinique sayli counter midvalley

You might have noticed this counter pop up at MidValley Megamall in the last month. Its a new concept in cosmetic shopping, where Clinique has opted to bring the counter to you so you can “Shop As You Like It” (SAYLI). At this open counter, you are welcome to browse the makeup and skincare unhindered by sales assistants , but if you need help, the SAs are there to help. I find it easier to browse colour makeup by myself, but I do prefer some assistance with skincare so this concept counter strikes a good balance.

I stopped by to pick up some items, and for once, I was not being tailed everywhere by the inquisitive SA, making unwelcome suggestions as to what I should or should not get. When I asked her opinion, she was helpful. Otherwise, her presence was unobtrusive. I think that was instrumental in my actually spending money there (to get a really nice gift with purchase ;)). I also noticed that in the 20 minutes I was there, at least 4 women stopped by, browsed, asked a few questions and left with purchases. I guess the concept does work!

Clinique Service As You Like It store is located at Lot No: FK-01 1st Floor, MidValley Megamall (in front of Giordano)

MAC Cosmetics Quite Cute Collection

I was invited to take a look at the MAC Quite Cute collection and was an hour late due to torrential rain and awful Friday traffic. Quite Cute is a collection of mostly pale pastel hues and bright pinks. A cursory glance told me nothing interested me. I was right, until the SA offered to try a blush on me, and she used Giggly, a pink mineralized blush with a sparkly purple heart embedded in the middle.

I must say Giggly is adorable in pan and on skin. Its a mid-toned pink with cool tones and did not seem overly shimmery on my skin. I liked the fresh pop of colour my cheeks. However, I was not too pleased with the rather powdery texture. I dithered for a bit as to whether to get it…. ok. I dithered A LOT, but left without picking it up 😛

MAC Quite Cute collection is limited edition and is available at all MAC stores and counters. No prices but the Mineralize blushes are RM100.

Just Peeking: MAC x Wonder Woman Collection Photos

March 3, 2011 Paris B 30 Comments

MidValley Megamall was transformed into a comic book set yesterday with the launch of the MAC Cosmetics Wonder Woman collection. How many of you have been anticipating this? Come on, be honest 🙂

mac wonder woman photos

Personally, I was not feeling it ever since I saw the pictures from all the online news, and I still am not feeling the collection. Its not the cartoon feel to the packaging that’s bugging me. Let’s be honest. Wonder Woman is a comic character. MAC did a great job translating the primary colours of a comic book into packaging. I don’t have to like it, but it makes sense 😛

But I was not quite taken with the colours and textures and feel in general.

Still, that’s not to say I’m not going to bring you photos of the products I managed to take pictures of 🙂

Hiking up the Scottish Highlands to MAC Glamora Castle

November 29, 2010 Paris B 30 Comments

MAC’s A Tartan Tale Holiday collection has certainly grabbed the attention of many, whether you like the tartan design or not. I told you before, that I picked up Glamora Castle, which is a limited edition eyeshadow in the collection. It was the only one that grabbed my attention because I’m into greys of all sorts.

It is also because Scotland in winter is very grey so the colour is quite apt. And no, Glamora Castle is not a real place (at least I don’t think so) The picture above is of Stirling Castle 🙂

So what’s so special about a grey eyeshadow then? Well, a lot actually. Glamora Castle is a blue-grey with a little shimmer, and a very lovely colour! Apparently those teal lines don’t go all the way through, as BritishBeautyBlogger discovered by carving up her Glamora Castle shadow. Ouch! Still, I didn’t get the teal to show up much or at all, and the grey shadow is on its own shot through with a blue tone which I actually liked, so I was happy anyway.

Take to the Scottish Highlands with MAC A Tartan Tale Collection

November 5, 2010 Paris B 37 Comments

Suria KLCC reverberated with the sound of bagpipes yesterday evening – a sound that has been likened to that of cats being squeezed in a sack but which I have a strange attraction to – like the Scottish accent. Och Bonnie Lassie!

mac tartan tale collection photos overview

It was the launch of the MAC Winter/Holiday Collection – A Tartan Tale. Although tartan was the order of the day, there were no burly red haired Scots with kilts on – we all know what Scots REALLY wear under their kilts don’t we? You don’t? I’ll tell you below what a Scotsman told me when I asked once 😉

The Tartan Tale collection is huge and like all MAC Holiday collections include travel brush sets and makeup sets. They are all limited edition of course and although I’m not personally drawn to any of the tartan items, finding them rather gaudy, I liked the tartan design etched on the surface of the eyeshadow. They don’t go all the way through, but they are different and they look pretty good, even if it’ll all disappear with regular use.

Here are some selected pictures of the Tartan Tale collection products. I’m not much of a MAC Cosmetics fiend, I’d be the first to admit so I’m not quite all fired up about the products. But I know many of you are, so hopalong now for the photos.
