Just Peeking: MAC x Wonder Woman Collection Photos

March 3, 2011 Paris B 30 Comments

MidValley Megamall was transformed into a comic book set yesterday with the launch of the MAC Cosmetics Wonder Woman collection. How many of you have been anticipating this? Come on, be honest šŸ™‚

mac wonder woman photos

Personally, I was not feeling it ever since I saw the pictures from all the online news, and I still am not feeling the collection. Its not the cartoon feel to the packaging that’s bugging me. Let’s be honest. Wonder Woman is a comic character. MAC did a great job translating the primary colours of a comic book into packaging. I don’t have to like it, but it makes sense šŸ˜›

But I was not quite taken with the colours and textures and feel in general.

Still, that’s not to say I’m not going to bring you photos of the products I managed to take pictures of šŸ™‚

I got the makeup artist to try the Mighty Aphrodite blush duo on me, and I kind of liked it šŸ™‚ The colour suited my skin and it looked fresh and glowy. If it was in normal packaging I might consider it šŸ˜›

The Mineralize Skin Finish in Golden Lariat looked interesting. But infinitely too warm for my skintone.

And finally, the eyeshadow quads.

Eyeshadow Quads: Defiance, Lady Justice, Valiant RM155

There was so much hullaballoo online about Defiance and Lady Justice that I did not realize there was a green quad – Valiant! Did you guys know about that? Most of the ladies yesterday opted for Lady Justice for their eyes – blue eyeshadow definitely reigned the night. But I opted for Valiant to test out for colour.

The makeup artist applied the light shimmery white gold shade all over my lid, followed by Diana Undercover (dark forest green) and Spinning Transformation (olive bronze with yellow pearl) in the crease. The colour in this quad is surprisingly light compared to the other two, so it only showed up quite subtle on my skin.

So there you have it. Some pictures and my thoughts on some items in the very large Wonder Woman collection. Not surprisingly, I picked nothing up from this one (do I ever? šŸ˜› ).

Are you looking forward to this one? Do you have thoughts on the collection, packaging or colours? šŸ™‚

MAC x Wonder Woman Collection is now available at all MAC stores and counters. Prices are as shown above.

Saw the collection this morning at the event MAC had with Acca Kappa. Was amused by the ā€œmarker penā€ eyeliner, but that’s about it. Didn’t even bother to find out how much it was since I don’t wear a lot of eye makeup.

Strangely, that marker pen liner must have gone on a walkabout because I didn’t spot it! Hmm…

Maybe you should just check it out at the store – cos the make up artists were running around looking for the palettes/mascara/etc – there wasn’t enough of everything to go around at the Centre Court promo area šŸ˜›

Perhaps it was being used on someone at the time, that’s why you didn’t see it.

I might do that the next time I pass by MAC. Then again, I so rarely stop by a MAC store coz I feel so lost in there. Unfamiliar brand and all haha!

Except for Mighty Aphrodite, none of the colours grabbed my attention. I thought I might like the Valiant palette (green eyeshadows and all) but the colours were too blah

I’m embarrassed to say that I was at MidValley by 10am on Wednesday just so that I could get my hands on the two blushes (Mighty Aphrodite & Amazon Princess) šŸ˜› I had to jump through hoops in order reschedule my meeting to Delicious MV from Tony Roma’s in Pavi just caused of how obsessed I was with the blushes. But I totally do not regret a minute of it as the blushes are AH-MAH-ZING!!! It has really good pigmentation and actually shows up on my tanned NC42 skin with just one swipe of my brush. The only downside is the packaging is tacky and the pan is super huge! I can’t even depot it and put it in MAC Blush Palette due to its humongous-ness. Oh well, I’ll just close my eyes whenever I have to reach for it then. šŸ™‚

Hey no need to be embarrassed! šŸ˜€ We all have our weaknesses hehe… and I must say that the blushes are pretty. They are the main things in the collection I was interested in because me and blushes are like that! šŸ˜‰ You know the best part? You’d never miss seeing them in your drawer because the packaging is so bright!

But isn’t that true of all makeup collections? They do all usually revolve around the same colours – its just how they package and sell it i guess that gets us going

I wonder what MAC was thinking really. I mean, its true to character of a comic, but for most of us visual people, its like eeks! is that kid’s makeup?

I just bought 3 items from this collection today! =)

Got myself a lipglass in Emancipation, a blush in Mighty Aphrodite and a Mineralized Skin Finish in Pink Power.
Tried them all today and they are gorgeous!

Gotta love the jumbo sized packaging.

Its actually a cool pink-purple and it would show up pinky. I used to have a purple blush from Shu Uemura (believe it or not!) and it was really quite nice going on. I’m not sure if I have it anymore though. It was a bit of a bother to get to work properly

I don’t so mind the packaging. Just not every into most mac products though I do have several favorites. There are so much better makeup out there in terms of overall quality. Usually the collections which are very hyped up gives me the biggest disappointment when I do get my hands on them. This look very much like one of those I won’t mind giving it a miss.

Eww… Why those eyeshadow palette looks like Staedtlers’ watercolour paint box šŸ˜› Reminds me of the eyeshadow palette (cannot recall which brand already) which was on my mommy’s dressing table, I was playing it with some waters and drawing pads. Drew some purple and blue Tweety birds! I was only 5. LOLL šŸ˜›
