Impressed with the Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate that can serve all skin types

July 21, 2017 Paris B 11 Comments

This post is kindly sponsored by Clinique Malaysia

A new hydration product always sets my beauty senses tingling. When I first got wind of the brand new Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate, I zeroed it straight on it, like a bloodhound on a trail.

One of the early products that worked for me from Clinique, was its older sibling, the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief gel cream, which I found worked so well for me to give me bouncy, hydrated skin. Perfect for when my skin was oilier, to add hydration without being heavy. I haven’t used it for a while now, as it’s too light for my skin type now.

But I’ve found something else that fits the bill in the Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate! 😀

Does 7 days with the Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster leave me glowing?

April 14, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

Some of you may know about my current “obsession” with Vitamin C serums ever since I finished my favourite Vitamin C serum. It was eye-wateringly expensive, but it worked so well for me. I’ve been toying with the idea of repurchasing, but at the same time, wanted to try something new.

So, when I stumbled across the Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% I did a double take. I hounded Clinique before its availability here in Malaysia because I was so bloody curious. You would be too, if I tell you that it comes in 1 week vials. Say what?

The thing is, Clinique came out with 2 different packaging for this, and I understood why the moment I saw the price. Oh yes, the full set was pretty eye-watering.

The Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Vitamin C 10% (let me just call it the Fresh Pressed Daily Booster) comes in a pack of 4, for use over 4 weeks. It also comes as a 1 week option, with 7 days worth of the complementary Fresh Pressed Renewing Powder Cleanser.

I was all ready to spring for the full 1 month version, but to be honest, couldn’t justify the price. Locally it retails at RM315 for the full size option (yes, I had to pick my jaw off the floor as well. It’s not a price I’m used to seeing at Clinique) so, although I was sceptical, I dug deep and sprung for the Fresh Pressed 7 Day System, to see what I could discern from it.

Cushion Foundation Commentary: Western brands vs Korean brands

September 21, 2016 Paris B 23 Comments

After trying cushion foundations from both Western and Korean brands in recent times, I thought I’d share some quick thoughts on how I feel about how they stack up against each other. They are by no means comprehensive, as the market is quite saturated with cushion foundations and I do not claim to have tried all the brands out there. However, I believe what I’ve tried represents a reasonable cross-section of what’s on offer out there.

For a more detailed insight into the brands I tried, I’d suggest you run through Cushion Foundation Week 1 (Western brand cushions) and Week 2 (Korean brand cushions). I’ve shared in there my thoughts on each of them in greater depth and how they compare to each other.

But for those of you wondering just how similar or different the Western brands have recently approached cushion foundations, which were made popular by the Korean brands, this is what I think.

Cushion Foundation Week: Round-up and some final thoughts

April 9, 2016 Paris B 42 Comments

Whew! What a week it has been! These sort of posts are incredibly time-consuming to prepare, as you might imagine, but I think, ultimately helpful to see detailed comparisons back to back of the new cushion foundations out in the market.

cushion foundation roundup: Iope, Dior, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Shu Uemura

My one caveat which I’ve repeated ad nauseum through the week is that I had only featured primarily western brand, or I’d like to think of it as mainstream brand cushions, that have just come onto the market. The primary reason is because a bunch of them landed on my desk, so what better way than to pit them against each other! 😀 As much as I’d like to feature more, I didn’t want my blog taken over by cushion foundations so maybe I’ll work on a sequel for the future if I receive more of these. If not, I’m afraid I don’t buy for review purposes anymore – my wallet forbids me to in these trying times.

The secondary reason is that I am not generally a fan of Korean cosmetics. I never had a good result with them, and while I hated my experiences with Korean BB Creams, I enjoyed using the Western brands. As for cushion foundations, I’d never been a fan before this – I still am not – but the one I did enjoy using was a Korean branded cushion.

So, with this in mind, let me take you on a quick round-up and some final thoughts on Cushion Foundation Week, and NOW you can chime in with your thoughts on cushion foundations haha! 😀
