Boost Hydration: 5 Hydrating Lotions and Serums I love that work (and are mostly affordable!)

June 26, 2019 Paris B 14 Comments

While I’m at that age when products labeled as ‘anti-aging’ grabs my attention, my primary concern isn’t so much ‘aging’ as it is hydration.

It is my personal experience and belief (non-professional) that keeping skin well hydrated helps it look better, and even to function better and heal more quickly from blemishes.

However, I don’t seek out very heavy formula. Instead, I opt to layer my skincare, sandwiching thin layers of potent hydration, to build that buffer.

5 hydrating serums and lotions that work

In my time therefore, as many of you have oft-reminded me in person and online, I have tried numerous products. Yes, if you’ve read a review here on my blog, it’s gone on my face LOL! 😀

And there are products that I return to over and over, or will recommend, because they are just that good at their job.

Today, we talk about Hydration, and I’ll share 5 hydrating lotions and serums that work. And not only work, they work incredibly well! 😀

Spending 7 days with the Clinique Fresh Pressed Clinical Overnight Booster with pure Vitamin A (Retinol)

April 17, 2019 Paris B 15 Comments

Skincare products with Retinol or Vitamin A appear to be quite a buzzword this year. Me? I’m happy about it. It means I have more choices across the board, and brands have to work harder to impress. Win for the consumer!

One I had been curious about was the Clinique Fresh Pressed Overnight Clinical™ Overnight Booster With Pure Vitamin A (Retinol). What a mouthful!

I’ll just call it the Clinique Fresh Pressed retinol, to keep things more concise.

When I heard about it, I was super curious. I am starting to incorporate products with Vitamin A (Retinol) into my skincare routine, so any new retinol product intrigues me.

I tested the Clinique Fresh Pressed Retinol over the past week, and here’s what I think. “But it’s only been a week!” I hear you say “Where’s your credibility?! Don’t you have to wait at least a month for results?”

Ah… 😉

If you use hydrating products this is the best way to apply hyaluronic acid and hydration serums

September 14, 2018 Paris B 16 Comments

I don’t usually delve into ingredients because I’m no expert. But there’s one ingredient that I do tend to look out for in skincare products, because it is well proven to be effective, both in science and from personal experience. I first learnt about it when I was first introduced to Hada Labo skincare back in 2009 – that’s almost 10 years ago!

That ingredient is hyaluronic acid, often found listed in ingredient lists as sodium hyaluronate.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with this ingredient by now. If you have ever looked for a product to combat dehydration then you will have come across this ingredient. It is present in most hydration serums, and you can find it in a more “pure” form, in brands like The Ordinary or The Inkey List.

What I’ll share with you today, is what I’ve learnt from experience – the best way to use a hyaluronic acid serum or hydrating serum 🙂

This Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly is clearly quite different!

September 7, 2018 Paris B 12 Comments

When I stumbled across the new Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly online, I did something unprecedented for me. I contacted the local Clinique people and pretty much brazenly asked if I could have a go. There was one reason why I found it so eye-catching.

Its aesthetics.

You must admit that you too would have done a double-take upon seeing this clear bottle. Most of us would be familiar with Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, affectionately known as DDML. The bottle with the yellow lotion moisturiser would have accompanied many a teen on their skincare journey. That said, I didn’t use it LOL! I never tried it till much much later.

And if I’m to be honest, I hated DDML. It broke me out when I thought I could not break out anymore. I tried different textures, and it was the same. Meh. Naturally therefore, when Clinique generously handed me a bottle of Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly to try for myself, it was with a little trepidation on their part. I don’t fault them for I am also known to be caustic when things don’t work out 😛
