5 Ways you can help keep your skin hydrated with Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator

March 2, 2018 Paris B 11 Comments

This post in written in collaboration with and is sponsored by Clinique Malaysia

One of the products I first enjoyed using from Clinique was their Moisture Surge Gel Moisturizer back in 2009. Goodness me has it been that long?! But you know what they say about innovation – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! But if you can make it better, then by all means, improve it!

And so on our shelves now in 2018, is the Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. This refreshing light gel cream promises to offer up to 72 hour hydration, so your skin feels comfortable and moisturized for longer. This is done using the Activated Aloe Water and caffeine ingredients to stimulate our skin’s water pump, to draw water from deeper layers to saturate our skin. I think of it like a self-watering plant system. As someone who dabbles in a spot of balcony gardening, this is a system I’m trying to rig up for my plants too.

The Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator is already now available at counters, but I’ve had this in my hands for just about 2 months now, thanks to Clinique’s sneak preview. In the process, I’ve been experimenting with it, to get the best out of this moisturizer, and realized that there were up to 5 ways I could use it, making it helpful as a multi-tasking moisture tool. I am very big on hydration, as you know, and I’m always trying to find ways to keep my skin hydrated. It is truly one of the best secrets to healthy, glowing skin! You might find it helpful too!

Clinique has an “Official Flagship Store” on Lazada and I do not like the idea one bit

December 4, 2017 Paris B 28 Comments

2023: I no longer hold a similar view today as I did in 2017, which is my thoughts as below. Since 2017, much has changed in the e-commerce industry, and in the reliability and setup of such portals like Lazada and Shopee, which now form a significant backbone of e-commerce in Malaysia. There are differing opinions on whether discounts ‘cheapen’ a brand, but as a commentator has pointed out, quite correctly, it is ultimately the consumer’s choice, and it is no place for me (or anyone) to gatekeep the accessibility of brands. It is better that they get such a discount from the official brand, as opposed to buying from other, potentially unreliable, sellers. The e-commerce landscape in Malaysia is quite different today than it was back in 2017 – and it is a far better place today than it was back then, both for sellers and buyers.

We had a long weekend here in Malaysia, and I’d spent a pretty packed few days wrestling with little monsters, so come Sunday, I was flat out of energy, and hiding in my cave. Quite literally. I spent most of the day lounging on my couch, catching up on blog reading (never let your unread posts build up in your feed reader past 500!), content in the knowledge that I’d had the prescience to write and schedule a blog post for today. Yay me!

The rest of the day was scheduled for mindless TV watching, with occasional trips to the fridge, and maybe to fix myself a meal. That was until I scanned Twitter in the afternoon, and came across a tweet that incensed me so greatly, I was galvanised into action, to fire up the computer, and to boot off my scheduled blog post to publish this rant instead.

IMO this gives Lazada more credibility than it deserves. My estimation of Clinique has dropped Ben further. https://t.co/lXb0eWa5gc

I’d read that Clinique Malaysia has only just gone and launched an “Official Flagship Store” on local shopping portal, Lazada. My tweet, with its typo and all (It should read “My estimation of Clinique has dropped even further” – Ben had nothing to do with it, sorry Ben LOL 😀 ) pretty much sums up what I feel about this piece of news.

But I am curious as to what YOU might think. Is this a welcome piece of news for you? Does this irritate you as much as it does me (I’m often in the minority in my opinion of this, I’m aware)? Or do you not care because online shopping isn’t your thing? Let me know! (It’s OK not to agree with me 😀 )

Of the 3 items I tried in the Clinique x Jonathan Adler, there is 1 that I will say is a must have!

August 17, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

Do I pay a lot of attention to Clinique makeup? I’m afraid not. I know they do some solid pieces, but they aren’t what I’d call exciting, or even sexy. But the new, limited edition Clinique x Jonathan Adler collection is going to change that. Here is a collection I can get behind.

As Jonathan Adler said “My collection for Clinique is for women who want to crank up their glamour factor to eleven” Sign me up Jon!

And for a limited edition collection, one that promises not to break your bank. Clinique teamed up with designer Jonathan Adler, for a collection that shrugs off the more youthful, rather staid image of Clinique, and turns their makeup into art pieces, worthy of display in your flat lays, or in your makeup pouch. I mean, look at that lipstick! I was cooing all over it, enthralled by the beautiful geometric printed cover, capped by an acrylic, gem-like cabochon. I loved the look of the lipstick the most, and the wallet-friendly prices help you want to collect them all.

There is just one wee little down-side.

My Skincare Routine August 2017 : Healing Sensitive Skin and Products I used

August 14, 2017 Paris B 31 Comments

I’ve been meaning to update my day and night skincare routine for a while (my last was in 2014!) Goodness, I hadn’t realised that it was so long ago! I’d been trying to write a post about my skincare routine for a while, but what with one thing and another, never got around to writing it.

I also get a lot of requests to share the products I’m using in my routine. The thing is, a lot of my basic routine remains pretty constant. The products change from time to time, depending on my skin needs, how I feel etc.

So, instead of just sharing my skincare routine once a year, which will change, I’ve decided to keep to an evolving skincare routine post. I’ll endeavour to share my routine every 2-3 months. It’ll give you an idea of what I’m using, how they work for me, how I use a product or fit it into my routine, and it’ll give me a point of reference as well. Also, it’ll allow me to highlight certain products that I may not dedicate a full post to. Win, all around methinks!

For starters, here’s my skincare routine that I’ve been doing for the past month or so. I had a much more complicated routine before this. But about a month ago, I noticed that the skin on both my cheeks were taking on a very bumpy feel. It wasn’t visible, but the texture of skin had changed, and any glow I had was gone. Naturally so, for the skin was uneven, even if unnoticable to someone else. I was very upset.

So, one day, I sat down, and stripped back all my skincare. Then, I built back a routine that was very simple and basic. Whether it was the products I used, or the routine I was on, my skin is now back to normal. Hurrah! 😀
