Blush is my favourite makeup item and 2009 saw some gems that make excellent gifts too! Some however aren’t around anymore which is a bummer, unless you can still get them at the counters.

The Revlon Matte blush is a great drugstore find as is the Maybelline Angelfit line of blushes. Excellent inexpensive stocking stuffers that actually work well and for which your friends might just thank you for them!

Benefit threw up a winner in Coralista which is an amazing blush that could suit most people. This applies too to the Dior Bronze Harmonie Rose Brazilia blush/bronzer that came out in Summer – if you can still find it, get it!

Saturday again! The female population of Kuala Lumpur and maybe even other parts of Malaysia will likely be congregated at Renaissance Hotel from 5am this morning for the Estee Lauder warehouse sales.

Me? I’d be tucked up in bed snoozing 🙂 I’d been for the sales for the past few years and decided I’d had enough. You can get some really good deals if you like the brands and I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot of hauls around soon 😉

As for me, I might be down at Ikea hitting up the sale there yay! Has anyone been yet? Is the sale good? Anything to report?

Not quite a shopping steal or deal, but has anyone tried the new Haagen Daz Apricot and Cream ice cream?

I’m not much of an ice-cream person- I prefer sorbets and lighter textures but I can’t stop stuffing my face with this one. Its like a frozen yogurt with bits of chopped up dried apricot – oh so yummy! Oh and limited edition 😉

Day 1 of the 30 lipsticks in 30 days Project opens with Benefit Cosmetics Silky Finish lipstick in Frenched.

Frenched is a scary bright RED lipstick in the tube. Just look at it. Its bright without discernable warm or cool tones although I’d say it tends towards the warm.

However, I knew right off that Frenched was a red made just for me. Its no secret I love red lippies and Frenched fills that niche, being at one and the same time bright and creamy.

Being a silky finish lipstick, the texture is smooth and silky but it goes on very creamy and pigmented. I mean pigmented… seriously.

How to keep your makeup on when you sweat?

I received an email recently from reader Melinda Rudy with the following enquiry:-

I’m not sure whether to ask you this, but this thing really bothered me. I have trouble applying make up since my face sweat a lot. I have oily + sensitive skin. And i sweat after walking for 5 minutes or expose to the sun for 1 minute. Could you please suggest a way/brand that is suitable with my current situation?

I did send Melinda a reply, but I thought it would make an interesting post too. The essence of the issue here is how to keep makeup on your skin when you know you will perspire or sweat.

Use a Makeup Primer or Makeup Base under foundation

To counteract oily skin and to keep foundation from sliding off when you sweat, try using a makeup primer or makeup base. The silicone in makeup primers will help hold your foundation in place. I have found from personal experience that powder foundations slide off less quickly than liquid foundations so you could try that over a base. If you can afford it, I loved the Guerlain Meteorites Pearles primer but a budget choice would be the Revlon Perfecting Primer.

Use a waterproof mascara and eyeliner

If you know you are going to sweat or cry or to have panda eyes in general, try a waterproof mascara or waterproof eyeliner. For waterproof mascara I like Diorshow Iconic or for a budget choice, try Maybelline. For eyeliner, I like the Guerlain Kohl pencil or I Nuovi Metallic liquid liner or for those on a budget, Silkygirl Funky Eye Lights rock!  A budge-proof gel eyeliner I have also tried is by Bloop de Paris – it seriously does not budge and its budget price too!
