A Korean Haul to soothe the shopping Seoul

May 11, 2011 Paris B 65 Comments

Haha… I just know that there are some of you waiting for this post 🙂 Truth be told, I did not buy very much, relatively speaking 🙂 I did stumble on a sale going on at Lotte Department store where I picked up some very lovely winter jackets (down filled!) at 50,000 Won (about RM140 each!) so I’m dying to go on a winter holiday next LOL Otherwise, I wasn’t quite into buying clothes, shoes or accessories.

masks from korea

What I did return with a lot of, was face sheet masks. Everyone who has ever raved about how incredibly cheap face masks are in Korea were not wrong. I picked up different masks from the different Korean brands – Skin Food, TheFaceShop, ElishaCoy, Baviphat… just to name a few. The masks are usually sold in packs of 10 or 20 and I got them for between 10,000-20,000 won (RM14-28) a pack. This was a shared pack, and I took out quite a few for gifts and suchlike. Should have picked up more 😛

Cleansing Oils I have used over the years and some Tips on using Cleansing Oils properly

April 19, 2011 Paris B 81 Comments

When I asked for your opinions on whether one should use cleansing oils even if you don’t use makeup, I had a few readers (Shay, Kay Es etc) ask for my thoughts on the cleansing oils I’ve used. Eeks! Do you know how long I’ve been at it and how many I’ve been through? haha…

But I do like using cleansing oils and I have found some that I like and will merrily tell you to buy (provided you don’t buy them all and leave nothing for me 😛 ) and I have also found some that do not work for me.

cleansing oils I've used before

As for how to use cleansing oil to avoid that oily feel after cleansing, try reading my earlier tip on how to properly use cleansing oils. Proper emulsification will reduce the oily feel, but a lot also depends on the texture of the cleansing oil in question. The oily feeling never goes away for some I’ve tried, even if you emulsify like crazy.

So, from memory, here is a quick run down of the cleansing oils I’ve used. Its long, so make sure you have food and water on hand so you don’t expire 😛

Your favourite (and not so favourite) Beauty Items in 2010

December 29, 2010 Paris B 49 Comments

During the weekend, I asked you for your favourite non-beauty item in 2010 and I was so amused to see that we have so many gadget geeks among us. Gadget geeks unite! 😀

Anyway with each day, we’re slowly but surely heading to the close of 2010 and a new year of 2011, so I thought it might be fun for us to share our faves and duds of the year in terms of beauty products, this time 😉

a few of my fave things in 2010

Like every year, 2010 saw a slew of new products head our way. Some of us took the plunge and tried the new items, some of us didn’t, preferring to stick to the tried and true. Some of us rediscovered old favourites in the process and some of us discovered pure lumps of coal. Duds. They are the bane of trying anything new.

Would you want to share your favourite and not so favourite beauty products of 2010 with us? 🙂

I’ll start and you can just follow on in the comments 😀

Baviphat Two Times BB Cleansing Oil – Is it 2 times as good?

September 8, 2010 Paris B 19 Comments

After my initial foray into Baviphat, it would appear that I’m not quite enamoured with the 2 things I’ve tried – Juicy Mask and the Apple Jelly Lip Scrub. The last item I purchased from Baviphat was the Two Times BB Cleansing Oil. Might it fare better than the other things I tried?

baviphat two times bb cleansing oil review

The bottle is cute – it reminds me of a bottle of olive oil for some reason. You might want to hold that thought because we’ll be coming back to it 😉

It looks small but holds 150ml of liquid so that isn’t that bad. Also, the cleansing oil is very liquid. If you are used to the texture of cleansing oils like Shu Uemura, you will be surprised to find that this one pumps out like water so don’t use too much. 2 pumps about does it for my whole face.

I use it the usual way I use cleansing oils – on dry face and then emulsify with water as I go along. I’ve shared how to properly use cleansing oil in an earlier post.

It cleans my skin a treat and removes makeup well. It also doesn’t dry out my skin but I did feel like it took a lot longer to emulsify and wash off than other oils I’m used to. I spent a long time in the shower going over and over but it still felt like there was a thin film of oil on my skin – nothing a bit of double cleansing can’t solve of course.

Is that why they call it “Two Times BB Cleansing Oil”? Because you have to wash your face twice? 😛
