Baviphat Apple Jelly Lip Scrub is too cute to pass up but does it deliver?

July 19, 2010 Paris B 17 Comments

I picked up the Baviphat Apple Jelly Lip Scrub during my first visit to the local Baviphat counter at Parkson Pavilion. I bought it for one reason – it was cute. Look at it!

Its so tiny and so adorable. Not much bigger than a 20 sen coin and easily held in your palm. It even smells of apple. A strong sweet smell of red apples, not the sharp smell of green apples.

I was told that to use it, you should just scoop out a little, apply all over your lips, scrub and then wipe off. So, I took it on a test run.

The scrub is very fine. You don’t get the large granules and rough texture usually associated with scrubs.

In fact, it feels almost like a lip balm with bits in it. It actually tastes rather sweet and a little like… soap? I don’t like how it tastes.

I apply it on dry lips, rub gently and then tissue off. My lips do feel soft and smoother after using it. It will help to get rid of flaky skin if your lips are very dry, but my lips always feel a bit funny after I use it. Almost like they are drier than before. Very odd indeed.

I will try to use it up (if I can), but I will not repurchase. Its pretty affordable at RM19.90 and its supposed to be one of Baviphat’s bestsellers.

Pros: Cute, Affordable

Cons: Tastes sweet and “soapy”, Left my lips feeling smooth but dry

I love the packaging, but I think it failed me as a product. I did not quite like it. Perhaps it is because that sweet soapy taste lingers a little.

Have you tried this one? I believe its the only lip scrub they have that comes in a tub. The other little tubs are tinted lip balm – adorable, but not quite me.

It’s awfully cute! 😉 (Especially the pic where you opened it to show the contents.)

But the drying part sounds like a definite no-go for me. 🙁

Hi! I have tried this too. I don’t like it. It left me with a really sticky after feel and you are right about it tasting soapy. And it was difficult to wash off too.

Yup but I was advised to tissue off – I tried washing off and it was no go!

i have a very cute looking lip balm at home, and it is in chocolate flavor. it’s definitely over-sweet for me, so, now it only serves as a deco on my desk.

Don’t you hate it when that happens? I’m so picky about lipbalm I just go for unflavoured and unscented ones so I have less to complain about 😛

I have a sugar lip scrub from never too busy to be beautifull and i dont like it too, it doesn’t give my dry lips the dewy results that i want even after i apply lip balm after i use it.I think all the lip scrubs are the same

I prefer to scrub just using brown sugar and honey or face scrub du jour or just an old toothbrush – all these fangled lipbalm scrubs don’t work for me boo!

B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful closed its doors end of last year in the UK. But that sugar lip scrub recipe has been brought over to their sister company LUSH Cosmetics. And the one I’m using now is Chocolate & Vanilla Sugar Lip Scrub. It smells heavenly scrumptious & wonderful to use too !:)

Aww..too bad that it left a drying feeling afterwards. Something I would not like since I have chapped lips. Guess will just stick to mixing honey+brown sugar granules. Soft, moisturizing and did you know honey makes your lips pinker naturally? 🙂

That’s great to know about honey! I usually just like eating/drinking my honey 🙂

Nope, didn’t like it at all. Money down the drain 🙁 I think the Koreans do have very cute packaging for their products but their efficacy are usually highly suspect for me 🙁

hmm..I don’t think that an odd thing. Because this is a lip scrub but not lip mask right ? Normally after we scrub our face , of course then we will put something on to moisturize our face right ?
Normally after I scrub my lips , I will apply a thick layer of lip balm , and then put a dampen cotton pad (with toner) on top of it for about 5 minutes . My lips will keep soft and moist until the next day one ^^
