Amway Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel reveals new skin in 8 minutes

May 12, 2011 Paris B 21 Comments

A while ago, I was invited by Amway to try their then new Artistry Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel, which is essentially, an at-home facial peel. I was a little worried about peels – who isn’t right? But I was assured that this one is gentle so I bit the bullet.

This slim bottle houses about 12 uses or 6 weeks, twice a week. The reason you see is that each time, you have to use 8 full pumps of product, spread over your skin. We are told that this renewing peel is formulated with natural mushroom enzyme, from a mushroom too small for anyone to see (which prompted me to query how it was discovered :P) and what it does is to gently peel and renew the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and improving the skin texture. Big question of course is, how does it fare? And here’s where we come in 🙂

Strivectin-SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub : Gently does it!

April 21, 2011 Paris B 2 Comments

The last facial scrub I really liked was the Kiehl’s Ultimate White one. In fact, that one tube has lasted me till just a couple of months ago when I tossed it! I might have found a replacement in the Strivectin SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub.

You might have noticed that Strivectin-SD has ditched their rather staid clinical look and opted for a more fun packaging with brighter colours. The Strivectin-SD cream for example, is now pink (!). Also, you will notice that right on the tube of product, you will see the expected results. In other words, its alright to lose the box your product comes in (which incidentally is way excessively large, Strivectin!); you can now keep track of your skin’s progress by reading it right on the tube 🙂

I mentioned that I like this facial scrub, and the primary reason is because it feels gentle on my skin yet does a great job. The grains aren’t rough or harsh so it does not unintentionally scratch your skin. Plus of course, the skin does feel lovely after use, as with most facial scrubs 🙂

Guest Review: Kiehl’s Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler

March 31, 2011 Paris B 9 Comments

I was passed a tube of the new Kiehl’s Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler a while ago to try. The problem was that I did not have a very drastic wrinkle problem, and I wanted to test the claims that this product would “instantly fill lines and wrinkles while minimizing the depth of facial lines over time”. So, I got a willing friend to be my guinea pig 🙂

What this product is, is a concentrated cream, to fill lines and wrinkles and plump it up. With hyaluronic acid forming one of the key ingredients, I really had no doubt about its skin plumping qualities. Also how this cream works is like a spot treatment. The pointed tip makes it easy for you to squeeze the cream out along your wrinkles and lines, and then you pat in the cream and step back to be amazed. Do note that you aren’t supposed to use this all over your face, only on the lines.

My friend who took it for a test run wasn’t quite as convinced.

Just Trying: Marie Veronique Organics Anti-Aging Travel Kit

March 24, 2011 Paris B 18 Comments

I’d read a lot about Marie Veronique Organics skincare from Vivawoman. So much so, my interest was piqued. The problem was that earlier, Marie Veronique Organics did not ship here to Malaysia. I wrote in a few times to query but was told it was in progress so I decided to bide my time. One day, checking out the website again, I saw that Malaysia is now on their shipping list! The problem when I ordered (early 2011) is that when you try to checkout your order, Malaysia does not appear on the Destination Country list (it still doesn’t as of today) so I wrote in, and was told that they do ship here, but I’d have to email in my order. Update: Marie Veronique Organics now ships internationally though a third party – International Checkout.

So I did and received an invoice which I then proceeded to pay by Paypal. Lots of you have emailed me about using Paypal. I’ll write about that some day 🙂 International shipping is a flat rate of US$12 per order and its free for US$250 and up (Update: June 2011 No longer applicable 🙁 ) I wasn’t going to spend that much on a brand I’d never tried, so I just paid the shipping fee. There was a discount code too when I made my purchase so that softened the blow a little.

Because I was new to the brand, I picked up the Anti-Aging Travel Kit (US$51). I thought it would be a good introduction to the brand. What you get is a Cleanser (choose between Gentle or Exfoliating) 30ml, Anti-Aging Mist 30ml, Anti-Aging Oil+ 7.5ml and Moisturizing Face Screen SPF30 15ml. The last item was the one I was most interested in.

If you are wondering why my photo only shows 3 items, its because I only just realised when I sat down to write this review, that my kit did not contain the Anti-Aging Oil+! I did wonder why there was no “moisturizer” included in the kit while I was using it, but I got so busy I didn’t check. I guess I could let them know, but its been so long since I ordered and received my products I wasn’t sure if they’d believe me 😛

So you’ll just read my thoughts based on my trial of the 3 products shown above.
